Please note the stat should read '53 mph,' not '53 seconds.' I apologize for the mistake.
It's fine dude
It's fine, no sweat, love your channel
This better then helix what
It's fine I thought you didn't noticed oof
Don’t worry about it no one was stupid enough to believe it... I hope
If this ride were in the USA it would be called The Joker.
JordanFilmsChannel I was thinking that too. *Cough* Discovery Kingdom *Cough*
lmao
Or Goliath. Or Batman the Ride😂🎢
Ah America. Why?
Y'know, I always thought if Smiler was ever cloned, and went to a Six Flags park, the Joker theme would actually fit it perfectly.
"The Smiler at Alton Towers remains my favorite rollercoaster in the UK" *Nemesis fanboys let out a screach*
Their both equally as good.
smiler is awsome nemesis is my seconded favourite wikerman would be 3rd after that i strugle with placements i like all altontowers coasters well except octonats as ive not riden it and dont plan on riding it unless i get into the credit hunting
I've only been to Alton Towers once, and I absolutely LOVED Nemesis, but The Smiler ticked all my boxes somehow. I got off that ride and was beaming from ear to ear for a solid two minutes
Even though I rode it in middle back row, it wasn't that bad, however the second half destroyed my ears
😂
2:10 John Wardley explains this reasoning in his autobiography. Apparently, he said, a 14 inversion coaster would require a single lift of around 50 meters / 164 feet- but because of Alton Towers’ famous tree line limit he settled for two 30 meter / 98 feet lifts.
The theming of this ride alone makes it one of the most interesting rides ever created. It's just so absolutely insane.

*I NEED A HONEY BUTTAH !!*

...I don't get it :P
is that a reference to something orrrrr...?
I mean...it's not every day that a roller coaster is themed to being brainwashed by an Orwellian style organisation in the near future.
Alton Towers, everybody.
@@aidanstead6069 no it’s the cheshire cat from alice in wonderland
Taron may have the best THEMING
But I'm sorry, The Smiler has the best theme..
Millsy Taron has onride theming, but overall Smiler did it on a better way
Kärnan Fanboy Not sure you understood what Millsy meant, or maybe I missunderstood. I think he meant the smiler has A better theme, but Phantasialand’s execution of the Klugheim’s / Taron’s theming is the best.
@@coasterfest Yeah that's what I meant, sorry if I confused anyone lol
@@jojo_hendriks Smiler's ride experience _is_ the theme
Millsy when I rode Taron the actually really good theming didn’t do it to me, but I think Smiler has better story within the theming because it fits to the layout
Great review! I'm glad that someone else thinks it's the UK's best coaster too!
how much did you pay ;)
*Icon has entered the chat*
A few chocolate digestives won him over
Also Icon is very good and definitely one of the UK's best coasters!
My favourite too!
COASTER BOT I haven’t ridden any coaster in the UK, but I think Smiler or Nemesis are the No. 1. But when it comes to theming, I would put this over Taron and Kärnan, but not Nvgrd
"Looping coaster 1 looks to intense for me!"
Hahaha. I get it. Lol.
I want to get off Infinity Coaster 1!
3:03 that sincronised dive loop
*Nemesis and Wickerman have left the chat*
Lol and Galactica too.
@@trainlover16 nobody likes Galactica 😜
Wickerman is another overrated GCI.
The Lord No the hell it isn't. I love that ride. Coasters don't have to be tall or fast to be good, like most GCIs are.
@@trainlover16 I've been on it, I thought it was ok. Second weakest woodie I've been on (excluding kids ones). Wodans better, Gwazi was way better and Cu Chulainn is probably my no.1 woodie. Can't wait to get on Balder this year though.
About the merch, I saw an enthusiast at Cedar Point wearing a Smiler shirt, and it was awesome! Like you said, I was the only one who was impressed 😂
When I get sushi, I always order a cobra roll and a sea serpent roll.😁
vertical loop soup
Heartline roll is my favourite
You can add Steel Curtain to the list of Sea Serpent Rolls!
Garret Miller good point!

It's perfectly safe. The accident was caused by human error.

Park Inspector: The Smiler has crashed!
For me, Oblivion has always been my favourite A.T coaster and for nostalgia reasons, nothing will ever beat that, but up until this point, I thought that nothing could top Nemesis for my second A.T spot.
Smiler did it.
I was wrong. It’s unreal.

This is the review I've been waiting for!!
Attempt for the smiler coaster parody #1
(Would love to see one Taylor 👍)
Lemons Are Real! Yes and I'd like one for both Nemesis and Galactica too.
Lemons Are Real! You all know what topic will be in there.
RIGHT! THE CRASH! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )
Lemons Are Real! Oh yeah I really would like to see Takoda doing 14 Backflips, but the Smiler is already Part of the WF Parody so Idk
Another Swiss RUclips user OMG YES!
Kärnan Fanboy lolololololololol
"It left me smiling, that's for sure" lol Taylor I love you for that
Glad you liked it! I’m from the UK and it’s my favourite coaster here too, I don’t know why most British enthusiasts don’t like it much
The only part I would say is rough is when the trains hit each other but other than that great ride!
thanks for the good laugh one year later

I love this ride, been waiting for this review for a long time!
Have been looking forward to this one, great video!
Gerstlauer: How many inversions do you want on this ride?
Alton Towers: yes
Glad you enjoyed the Smiler!
It was great going on it with you guys back in the summer.
Thank you. An unbiased opinion of the coaster that doesn't mention the accident once.
I've ridden both back and front row, to no real discernable difference. I thought they were all great to experience, personally. I loved it!
Great review Taylor love from us in the UK
I LOVE the smiler and I think it is pretty smooth. Alton Towers is my home park so I’ve riden it SOOOOO many times in every row and it’s fine either way. Nemesis is my favourite coaster but the smiler is so bonkers. It’s my number 2
Glad you liked this coaster as I adore it! Got stuck on it on Wednesday but I don't mind! This thing is messed up and amazing!
We rode the smiler in April 19 and loved it as we rolled to a stop my eyes were all out of focus from the spinning through the corkscrews.
I agree with the score, my fav coaster in the world and I’ve been on a lot. Great vid, good to see someone with the same view as me :)
I honestly came off the ride for my first ever time and I had the biggest smile on my face when I entered the break run to when I left the shop!
Sam Raymond You got corrected.
The procedure went well then. :)
I love watching your coaster reviews, because as a fellow enthusiast I love your takes on coasters from all around the world!
As someone who visits Alton Towers a lot (I currently live in London but I’ve lived in the UK all my life) I couldn’t agree more with everything you said! The Smiler is SOOOOOO Alton Towers! It could not be any better of a fit! It is absolutely nuts to me that this ride is 10 years old next May! I remember riding it opening day, and I was only 9 at the time so my mum took me, and we waited 5 hours to ride it, and it was absolute insanity to little 9 year old me, and it still is to this day! Every time I ride it I come off smiling and laughing and I immediately want to hop straight back in line and get on it again!
I cannot wait to see what Alton Towers will do with SW9 in the future, the more recent secret weapons (Th13teen, The Smiler and Wicker Man) show so clearly that Alton Towers is really going to push the boat out as far as they can!
When I went on smiler I like to count every single invertion 😂
How are you able to count the inversions when you are going like 54mph
Simple if you count 7 before the vertical, chain hill you counted correctly as they split it so 7 before the vertical chain hill and 7 after
This is mine and my best mates favourite roller coaster. Always go on it every year and I've only ever sat front row or second row.
I have to agree with you - it’s my favourite UK coaster. I love how they have got so much track into such a small area and as you say how messed up the ride is - you can’t predict where you are or what’s coming next.
It’s one of those rides if they had a viewing area you could just sit and watch it
I agree. I didn't find it rough. It's my favourite coaster at the park, I love the theming and how the coaster kind of interacts with the theming. Alton Towers is a great park as a whole, especially for coaster fans!
Gp: I hEaRd ThAt ThIs RoLlEr CoAsTeR cRaShEd OnE tIMe, LeTs NoT rIdE tHiS
This ride looks absolutely incredible. Definitely on my bucket list, and I hope to get out to the UK some time to ride it (hopefully I'll still be working for merlin so I can use my magic pass to get in for free). I'm also absolutely obsessed with that theming. Some of my favorite theming on any coaster.
Have u ridden it yet?
Taylor that's my number 1 coaster ive ridden so far and on the 8th November (1st day of ultimate fireworks) i ridden smiler 20+ times that day, luckily i had our video camera with me so i shot a video of the day
The back is quite smooth as that’s where I rode it and it’s such a great ride and it’s so well themed👍🏻😀👍🏻
Thanks for posting this review. The Smiler gets such a lot of stick but I love it, glad you do too!
For Halloween they really go to town with the theme too, with actors in lab coats and a really creepy Asylum-style vibe. Would always reccomend checking our Alton towers in October, It's not quite halloween horror nights but its the best we got.
That’s awesome Taylor! Great video! I’m personally excited for the steel curtain in kennywood, because it is the closest park to me. It has kind of a wacky layout tho.
been waiting for this video for so long😂
I had the same experience with the airtime. Didn't expect it going in, but it definitely had some good airtime moments.
Yes! Time to get corrected!
The fact that they can fit 14 inversions, a full queue line and a giant marmaliser while staying in the restrictions of the park itself is beyond me
dont forget its also in a teeny plot too
This ride looks flipping amazing!
Went on Smiler 3 times after studying it on youtube (50 plus times). Every ride my head was OK but had the "party in the stomach" feeling for at least 45 minutes after. Can't wait to go back! Plus the vertical lift a total "laid back in bed experience"! Last ride of the day just before 8pm, with the dew settling and the ride seemed to be pushing plus 55pmh. "Definitely Marmalized"!
I find it interesting how when it comes to this coaster, many visitors outside of the UK such as from Europe and the USA tend to rate this ride so highly, yet many Brits don't think too much of it.
I myself do rate this ride as good, but honestly, I think Nemesis and Wicker Man at the Towers are far better and more enjoyable, not to mention they both look in a much better state maintenance-wise. Smiler these days looks so grimy, rusty and broken sadly compared to when it was new in 2013 and that 12th inversion on the back row is a killer to your head and neck. >.
As a brit, I personally disagree. I find it more enjoyable than nemesis and wicker man, especially with its theming.
Marhelorpe what a silly GP reply
Ewwwww a furrie, someone burn it
You could argue though that the "low-maintenance" look actually adds to the ride theme.
Nemesis has artificial rust added for added theming so you could argue the same for the Smiler.
For me the 13th inversion was the worst.
I love the theme of marmalization or however you spell it. They could make many movies around the themes of Alton Towers coasters
I've never got front row, but the second half of that cobra roll has been absolutely brutal every time I've riden this coaster
i got to go on this in 2016 because my dad got a 6 month sabbatical to England so i needed the credits and man oh man the smiler is INSAINE. I got third row and it was kinda rough but man is this a good coaster. a bit surprised you did not talk about the first inversion in the dark with the music tho.
So awesome, glad u liked it as much as I do! I also love the theming in a really weird way too. Really glad u don’t hate on it like a bunch of other people 😁😁 also I love the theme tune, I think I’m one of few there 🤔
the smiler is up there with me like 2nd place in the uk but icon had it for me the history of blackpool pleasure beach and how icon gets around the park its amazing !!
Love your vids bro
The front is definitely the best, but I found that the entire ride is smooth other than the element you spoke about, and the heartline rolls afterwards
Great review! I love it as well and I think it gets too much hate from enthusiasts.
Can't wait to hear some more reviews of UK rides!
I RODE IT TODAY AND IT WAS SO AWSOME I LOVE IT SO MUCH
If you wear a shirt from that ride you’ll like the guy in the commercial for this ride.... Crazy lol. Great job Taylor
Gotta say didn't expect it to be your favorite in ALL of the UK, but I can very well believe it because I loved it, too. I had rides in a couple different seats and noticed a couple bumps here and there, one or two of them more noticeable, but I found it almosted blended in with the overall intensity. The ride is just too crazy not to like and the layout is so well designed. Also, I think there are way too few Sea Serpents out there, they're one of my absolute favorite inversions.
Glad you enjoyed it, my second favourite in the UK, Nemesis is first because of nostalgia for me and it's intensity is just insane.
That being said, I haven't ridden Icon yet so that could climb up and beat Smiler for me.
The score just fits this ride so freakin well. I just can’t grasp my mind over it.
*enjoying the swarm alone as my favourite uk coaster*
I live an hour away from Alton Towers, and this ride remains my favorite probably in the world
I got dragged on the ride by a friend so happy they did it in my opinion it's the best ride as you get loads of thrill from it
I am so hyped up for this ride but I won’t be able to ride it this year. It looks insane, the theming is unique and the soundtrack... I say it’s one of the best if not the best coaster soundtrack!
I've ridden rides like Shambhala and Red Force, and The Smiler is still my favourite. I don't think anything will ever top it for me, just holds a special place in my heart this ride
Great review!
I think you are the first person i've seen who reviews The Smiler in a positive way
Number 1 bucket list coaster
I went on this ride last Friday. I came off dizzy with a headache 😂😂
The second airtime hill goes from crazy positive to negative Gs, lucky to have this at my home park 30 minutes away
this, the swarm, icon and wicker man == best rides in the uk. i’ve rode all but icon and i can’t wait to get the credit
This ride is nuts. A back row ride in the night is mad...
I loved this coaster as well! It's a good ride but the backrow kicks your ass. Last dive before the two heartlinerolls is so rough.
YEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!! Thank you 😊
This ride is definitely my favourite in the Uk 🇬🇧 the first time I rode it was yesterday but I got row 4 and it wasn't rough at all all the theme park enthusiasts over exaggerate bait in my opinion and the theming is amazing wanted to buy the whole lot of merchandise. Great Video earned yourself a new subscriber.
Honestly the back row of this ride is mental. First time on a roller coaster that genuinely scared me.
Great review Tyler. Mad to think u go on the smiler 3 times you have been upside down 36 times...i went on it about 6 times this season and i thought it did feel rougher..then i rode the front and its much smoother...so agreed
9.5 out of 10 Boom!
Love it, never thought it was rough either
the interlocked cobraroll and batwing is awsome
the roller coaster equivalent of a psychological horror movie
Greetings for the UK. :) Glad you liked Alton Towers, my favourite is TH13TEEN. I have never been on the Smiler before. Me and inversions don't go well. But I think the ride looks awesome and would love to brave it one day.
I guess you could say I'm *happy* to see this video.
No, I'm not leaving.
Mr. Meloetta Can flip down the hill 14 times?
@@MatchTerm DO YOU HAVE ANY CLUE WHAT YOUR WORDS CAN DO!?! IF HE COMMITS VEKOMA SLC, THEN HE WILL HAVE DONE SOMETHING THAT HE WILL FOREVER REGRET!!!!!!
lol
A trick to most rough riding roller coasters is pressure, but you might lose some of the air time. Push your legs up into the bar, restraint, or whatever works on most. Just finding the way to brace yourself, sometimes it is pushing up into shoulder restraint. On stand up roller coasters that most people hate, for bicycle reasons, just a simple push up into the shoulder restraint will take away a lot of the roughness and save your area you sit on.
I rode this coaster in the back row and I thought it was very smooth. My friends rode in front and second row before and said it was also smooth so i think it’s just a pretty smooth coaster
I love the merchandise 😍
Hi I live in the UK, glad you enjoyed it but yes the theme is messed up
I loved it too, but it's defo a front row ride
I’ve only rid the front row and loved it
At Knott's, I saw some British people with Smiler merch and I went up and complimented them.
Coaster Studios is the best coaster youtuber ever
The scariest part of the ride is the fact you start laughing at the end of the ride
5:33
Bird: WHERE DID I DROP THAT LOLLYPOP?!?!
I got on The Smiler 4 times. 3 front rows and one on the back. The back is a little rougher but the only time it's painful is on the 12th inversion.
What did u thing of the indoor section
Going to Towers tomorrow, and i can't wait to getcorrected
