The universe is 13 billion years old. How lucky are we to be living at the exact same time as Led Zeppelin.
Every rock band in the world wishes they were Zeppelin. There will never be another.
@user-db4gr7ne8l "rock band" 😊 but yeah, I bet even Paul wishes he wrote Stairway
@@notanobodywithabody the Beatles were a "rock band."😑
... as Plant and Page wishes to be authors of Yesterday))
No they don’t. Zeppelin was great, but they were just one of many. We lived in the era. Not every album was full of hits. Most don’t even know John Paul Jones, on Bass, was the most talented in the group.
@@jdh9676 the Beatles were a pop band. Sorry.
I was at this anniversary bash in the second row. Only the media cameras were in front of my group. My best friends girlfriends father worked for Pepsi and gave us the tickets. It was 12 hours of amazement. What a show this was!!
I remember this on TV, I envy you for being there. I was a huge Yes fan, how was their set to see live? Seemed like the crowd went crazy when they finished up their set with Roundabout.
Never seen a band more loved than Zeppelin! Once your hooked you can never get enough!!!
I have about four bands I feel that way about!
Oh yes man AC/DC and since 50 years this year, their fan base all around the world is in forged steel 🤟
I've always marveled at folks that don't like Zep's blues based rock (!) 😮 (its called music)
Gee, what a bummer!
Their footprints 👣 are left all over the earth 🌎
Spreading love and joy- pure life energy ✨️
thanks boys. 💖
Forever 🕉 Led Zeppelin ✈️ 🎶
I remember watching this live and listening to the fm simulcast. It was awesome! Caught some great simulcast concerts back in the day. This one was very special.
The greatest rock band period no others can compare!!!!!!!!
The version of Led Zeppelin everyone forgets!
Jason has played with them 3 times; his wedding, here, and the 2007 reunion!
🤘🏻
He also did a tour with Page for the Outrider album in 1988. Over 30 shows and he was on the album as well.
I remember being a kid when this was simulcast. My dad was recording the whole thing off the radio. Those were the days...
I still have my cassette recording of this event.
When they were in their prime, there was Led Zeppelin, and there was everybody else.
this...not their prime especially Page
Yeah, you only get one "prime" and its around your 20s...@@vracan
Yes and Robert Plants years are behind him as well. Not only can he not reach those notes, but he forgot some of the words and repeated a verse to Kashmir. (There own favourite song) Still love them though
Ahmet Ertegun signed Led Zeppelin and made a fortune.
He wisely let Page handle the music and production which he was a genius at doing.
They loved the blues artists on Atlantic records so it was a good match. Led Zep delivered 7 great albums and that catalog sold millions of albums and still sells today.
Bonzos drumming is what’s missing here. He was so powerful! RIP Bonzo
RIP Ertegun
It also takes a Great Manager to have Their back, Peter Grant.
@@brucechristensen2161 Wow, I didn't know that. But We say Stole, they say Percentage.👌🏾
While not the best gig, this is THE HAMMER OF THE GODS!!
I remember this, we waited all night for zep to come on tv! 1988 so long ago now
Yourself and a lot of other people!
Simply electric from Mr Jimmy Page and lovely to see Jason filling his father's shoes so perfectly
Not really.... Jason isn't even in the same caliber as Bonzo. Only a non-drummer would compare Bonzo to his kid. The groove and swing just ain't there. We won't talk about the lack of nuance in his fills, too. That repetitive fill in Kashmir would like a few minutes with you...
I’m not a drummer but a guitarist and you don’t have to drummer to have an opinion. Jimmy was sloppy usually in concert! I thought this was a crappy performance except John Paul Jones! Vanhalen rules.
I was watching zeppelins 40th anniversary concert scrolling through RUclips when I saw them. Ooh haven't seen that one I thought to myself as I left the zep gig for a garden rendition of the Jean Jeanie. Made me smile, as always 😊🤘
THE GREATEST BAND EVER HANDS DOWN!!!!❤😊
Better then when at Live Aid for sure.
My brother Joe & I were at this show. We were so lucky to see this.
Do the camera men know john paul jones is a member of the band???
John Entwistle had the same problem. Unless the bassist is the lead singer of the band, a cardboard cutout would be the same as the actual bassist!
If you want to be in the photo, make sure you stand close to the singer or guitarist, lol!
I read Beast, a biography on Bonzo, and evidently JPJ and Bonzo wanted more lighting but Jimmy told the light staff to keep the lights on Plant and him
He was always discounted in the band. When they reunited for Live Aid, they didn't even ask him to play initially. Robert Plant proposed his own bassist, but JPJ got wind of the news and said, hey I'm part of the band too.
I think that’s when he famously said I would’ve complain. If they would’ve asked me I don’t think he
@@Flash023JPJ was the most musically talented
The only constant of Led Zeppelin was CHANGE. They were always on the edge and pushed the boundaries for me from the very beginning. Always broadening my Musical Horizons along the way to embrace and understand many different musical genres. They always evolved and took chances. Jimmy Page is a compositional and arranging pioneer & visionary whose brilliance and light has never dimmed. Each member was a Titan with their own unique shine and gifts. Had they existed during the 80’s … one thing is for sure- they would have put their own unique spin on music and forever alter it ONLY for the better ❤️🔥 It is very sad that the world of Music lost a such a brilliant drummer cut down in the prime of his musical life. It is even sadder to imagine the impact of this even deeper loss on his family and friends . Thank you John Henry Bonham for sharing your Musical Gifts with us 😘🌹🙏 Thank You Lee Zeppelin 🥰
Well said 🤘😳💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨
I agree Jimmy's composition and songwriting.
Went to visit an old friend that night i told him i wanted to see zeppelin and i wouldn't have made it home it was a Hours drive back home ,well they went on stage last and his now xwife was pissed
i wouldn't leave till i seen there set ! THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THEY WERE PLAYING TOGETHER NOTHING WAS GOING TO STOP ME SEEING THIS. !
I read they went on at 1am ur so lucky to have been there for this I was 12 watching this on hbo hooked absolutely crazed out of my mind Led Zeppelin playing again
good move
Whoever was mixing the sound totally forgot there was a bass player and keyboards completely missing from Kashmir and Stairway.
So sad, He was always behind the scenes, but today he is still around making great music with the younger ones of the most recent last generation before everyone flipped out and forgot what gender they are, this country is crumbling, Led Zeppelin will always be remembered from our past.
He must be related to the cameraman, because he forgot about him too!
WOW great blast from the past
I hadn’t seen this footage before. Very cool 😎
I remember hbo showing this me at age 9 crazed zeppelin fan and after seeing the song remains the same and not seeing them together after Bonhams death then this I was sucked in like a vacuum when they showed this come on nobody looks that beautiful with a les Paul then jimmy page ♥️
I was fortunate enough to see them 4 times.
Well, la-tee-dah! Good Fer yoooooouuuu!!
I don't care how loose or brown sounding this performance may be.
I came here to watch Jimmy's moves and the sheer joy of playing he exudes!
Even on a bad night Jimmy Page blows everybody away.
Exactly @@chriskroll4166
Painful to listen to... Same with Live Aid.
@@PickettMusic you should check out some Taylor Swift . More up your creek 😮
@@chriskroll4166Ha ha ! Good come back. This is much better than Live Aid. Infinitely better
Anything Led Zeppelin do is fantastic, saw them twice at Earls Court, once at Knebworth then on the Page/Plant tour Manchester evening news, I'm 68 now and still love there music, and my 21 year old lad also loves Led Zeppelin and to cap it of he even looks like Page and plays guitar (of cause anything by Zeppelin).
Rt on! Dad's rule! Ya did good
You’re thrice blessed!
The camera always leaves out the most talented member.
For only a couple days rehearsal it's great to see Robert, Jimmy and Jonesey togather with a young Jason Bonham. The sound engineer and mix did not do the band justice at all although not bad for not playing a gig in eight years. The O2 Arena shows made up for this performance although Zeppelin did perform as a birthday present to Ahmet, co-founder of Atlantic Records. This was a wonderful birthday present! Xo, David. 😀☮️❤🎼🥁🎹🎸🎤🤘
@daviddrotar410 - This concert celebrated Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary. Not Ahmet’s Birthday
Led Zeppelin Rules! Period.
1988 only 8 years since they ended amazing isn’t it rip John Henry Bonham ♥️9/25/80
Bonzo!
当時はヒドすぎるステージだと絶望しましたが、こうして月日も経て見ると、なかなかカッコイイではありませんか!
素人でもハッキリと分かる下手さにますます磨きがかかったジミーペイジのカッコ良さに痺れます!
Great Memories again seeing them again. With Jason Bonham son Of John Bonham on drums. What a show.
I saw them in Dundee in 73 brilliant concert
Saw them the same year in NYC at MSG, miss those days, times
It’s good to see the guys (3 of them) giving it a go in 1988. I saw the band in 1973 and in 1977. The 1973 show was the better one, by a considerable margin. The Led Zeppelin mystique was a real thing.
Saw them in 73 also, NYC at MSG. Miss those days and times
@@letitbe777 The May 10, 1973 show that I saw was at Memorial Coliseum, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I assume they were just over-the -top great wherever they played back then.
@@scottjackson163, well, aside from their music, and being a woman, if I could’ve thrown myself on stage, and landed in Plants arms, I would’ve been a very happy woman lol
Led Zeppelin rules no band can touch them
Had Lynyrd Skynyrd had not lost the 4 key members in a horrible plane crash they would have blown zeppelin away in album sales and concerts. They easily had as many hits at the time of the crash as zeppelin did at that time.
The best absolutely the best Led Zeppelin baby ♥️nobody will ever do it better
Absolutely right
That is true!!

While standing in line for tickets (remember the day?) for the 1995 Page/Plant tour, I happened to be standing next to a man who was at Zeppelin's NYC Montana Studios rehearsals for this gig and he commented re: the sound issues for this gig and faulted Zeppelin's sound crew. My understanding is that the MSG soundcheck was great but the gig was marred by sound issues, the fact that Zeppelin's gig was delayed which heightened Jimmy's stage fright and because Jimmy and Robert had an argument backstage over Robert's psychosis about and threatening not to sing "Stairway To Heaven" minutes before the gig which obviously affected Jimmy's guitar playing.
@user-db4gr7ne8l Peter Grant reported that Robert was refusing to sing STH all the way up to within 5 minutes of the gig. Jimmy supposedly tried to convince Robert that they owed it to the Western world. I can understand and respect Robert's feelings about it but at the same time it was an egocentric hissy fit. I love STH but Robert developed a dislike for it for its throwaway lyrics and overrated status and he was trying to cement his solo career while dissociating from both STH and for that matter Led Zeppelin. I remember that I saw Plant perform the week following on his _Now And Zen_ solo tour at the then-Byrne Arena in East Rutherford, NJ and hoped for the possibility that Jimmy may have stayed on in NY and have been invited for a guest appearance but it was never to be.
Wow I heard page had issues going on mentally as well
Thank god Phil Collins was presenting and not playing again. He massacred it at Live Aid.
Wonderful - thank you.
NOBODY WILL EVER DO IT BETTER THEN THE MIGHTY MFN LED ZEPPELIN ♥️✌🏼
I was there, 61 yrs old now
You
No one can do it better!
Кто будет такую песню петь,будет молодеть!!!❤
8 minutes into Kashmir, can I please have 1 shot of Jonesy and Jason??
It's shot like it's the Page/Plant shows in the 90's. I'm glad you commented about it.
Led Zeppelin is Rock And Roll Royalty .to start out in 68 or 69 with that first record but it was the next 4 years or so 1973 they are biggest band in the world .bigger than Elvis .bigger than the Beatles .Rolling Stones .The Who .they will always go down as the biggest and best hard rock bands ever .Any one that even doubts that for a minute I say go watch "The Song Remains The Same" and that will confirm it for ya .
My heart just melts for Robert Plant, saw Page and Plant in Houston finally after missing them by a day or so in the east coast, they rocked!!! Jason certainly can fill his fathers shoes!!!
Love the Zep!
They couldn't unite until a Bonham was sitting in the drummers seat.
Kashmir is such a heavy riff
СПАСИБО ! 🫠
Excelente🎉🎉🎉
Unas de mi bandas preferidas led zeppelin saludos desde Argentina 👍
I heard this broadcast live on the radio, I loved it at the time, but now it’s unlistenable, O2 in 07 makes up for it, saw them in Pontiac, MI 1977, set a guinness record for largest indoor concert at the time, not the best sound either, but one of the best times of my life
You have to admit that Jimmy looks great!
Yeah, they're kind of phoning this one in. This is why Plant was so reluctant to do Zep shows after what he considered a disaster at the Live Aid show.
From what I’ve heard/read, the FM broadcast had much better sound. You could actually hear JPJ’s keys.
Caught this live on the radio. Drums caught my attention immediately. Didn't know who was playing but it sounded more Bonham-like as the set went on eg 17:20. Didn't realize it was an actual Bonham till Plant introduced him- never heard of the guy. Disregard of Timekeeping hadn't come out yet.
Jimmy beating that danelectro down!
Es como decir fútbol y nombrar a Maradona.
Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd & Rush marcaron un camino para que la música siguiera su curso. 🔱💪👍
I love you
Does anybody remember laughter???😊😊😊
Oh wow I remember this and I flipped out
His fingers just didnt want work on them leads,,, still the man
Yep drunk of his head and sloppy as always!
He not using any saturation or not much..some more sustain would fix this??
Really really dry
No shot of John Paul ?
Mientras unos subimos a los autobuses, hay algunos que recorren las más altas cordilleras. Pero qué salvajes y qué valientes son estos tíos! Bendito sea Dios y bendita la madre que los parió!
Led there be zeppelin !
What difference in sound between that Dano electric and the LesPaul Page was playing. Saw them in Seattle 1970.
Where’s John Paul Jones?
We want JPJ ….
人類最強のバンド❤
If they had continued, they would have continued to be the biggest band in the 80s,but they didn't. Robert once said in an interview,"I had a great, warm, big hearted friend I haven't got anymore. It was so final, I never thought about the future of the band or music".
Well done Robert. Jimmy what the hell were you doing?
The Lord works in mysterious ways.
So does blow
Poor sound quality, that’s all
They were better rehearsed than the live aid gig i give them that, Jimmy just needed a little bit more overdrive.
Live Aid was a mess.
I know but what’s crazy is he really doesn’t play with a lot of distortion I admit he could have had just a little more edge here I play too and it sounds pretty good less edge
So was this!!!
Coca is a hell of drug
Page literally almost quit in the Stairway Solo it was so bad
I was there.
sure you were
@@markjh1017 I was there as well - flew into NYC with three friends - saw Pink Floyd the night prior - Ac/Dc the night before that and SRV opening for Plant 2 days before that - with all the musicians who played 40th Anniversary - it was a lot of great live music that week

Hammers of Gods….. Jason Bonham blood of Bonzo🤟🏻🔝👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
As the show went on it seems Robert warmed up and got better. Still not all the there though. Also I think they needed more rehearsal time. Jimmy and Robert were not on the same wavelength like they were in the old days.
Eventually there's some videoshots of JPJ. I eventually just accepted the Audio. Woulda been a serious crap show of sound without JPJ keeping it real. But long live the band forever.. 🤍... listen on headphnz.. JPJ saves Page every song... Mixing is off but still.

Him and every other singer. It's called "getting older". What's being "purely honest" mean? It sounds like something you might read on a religious dating app.
