- Le Vertigo by Royer performed by Nenad Leonart (Leonart Music) in March 2021 in Switzerland on a Ruckers harpsichord.
The Pièces de clavecin by Joseph-Nicolas-Pancrace Royer (1703-1755) are considered gems among the French harpsichord repertoire and prove the virtuosic mastery of the French Baroque period harpsichordists.
This unique music by Royer expands the harpsichord in dramatically-theatrical terms. "Le Vertigo" is written in the form of a rondeau and reminds with its title of the typical French baroque character pieces, although very soon it will break musical boundaries. Written to impress and establish the harpsichord as one of the main instruments, Joseph-Nicolas-Pancrace Royer has created a masterwork with his composition of "Le Vertigo" (Rondeau).

Fantastic
@@traugottklassik8252 thank you!
Beautiful composition
@@ilya_A113 agree! it is!
This piece has many moments in it that sound like they belong in some niche harpsichord metal music while other parts sound lyrical and delicate. Quite an interesting piece.
Agree
Positively enchanting! I think this is one of the most unique interpretations of this piece, and definitely captured the feeling of vertigo in the title, yet still making it sound crisp! Very well done.
Incredible! I hear the notes .. not just a wall of sound, and the interpretation is spot-on. True talent. I can OD on Vertigo. Thanks for the upload!
Thank you very much! Appreciate it :-) it‘s one of my favorites
what an outstanding performance of this exceptional harpsichord piece!! - love those contrasts and repeated chords!
Thank you so much! I‘m happy you enjoy it :)
Excellent playing! I always have the version by Jean Rondeau in my head, can't help it. But this is certainly a worthy contender!
Thanks! Appreciate it :)
The first time I heard Jean Rondeau play I was taken aback. Mr. Rondeau has that thing that very few have. Horowitz had it, he could sit at a piano and find something musical that no one else could. He could create a cohesive picture while physically hardly moving. Jean has that thing.
I love the performance, the filming, the angles, the editing, the Flemish harpsichord and, last but not least, the very cute and stylish performer!
Ooooh thank you so much! It‘s all been done by the same person (except for building that awesome instrument), so I appreciate the quintuple compliment a lot! :)
Could not agree more! Apart from the amazing performance, the video is also very well made.
Metal. Everything about this performance is perfect. 🤘🤯🤘
I've heard many performances of this tough piece, and was mainly impressed by the few who managed to perfectly convey the virtuoso aspect.
However, the benefit of this excellent performance upon the others (including even that of the excellent Jean Rondeau) is the additional aspect of the "vertigo" feeling, as defined in Wikipedia (cit.):
"Vertigo is a condition in which a person has the sensation of movement or of surrounding objects moving when they are not. Often it feels like a spinning or swaying movement. This may be associated with nausea, vomiting, sweating, or difficulties walking. It is typically worse when the head is moved. Vertigo is the most common type of dizziness".
How could I not parallel the complements the 1958 psychological thriller "Vertigo" (Hitchcock) got, to the compliments your performance deserves?
Nenad Leonart: Bravissimo!
Thank you so much for this wonderful compliment! Have a great time :)
On Spotify pls!!! ❤❤❤
