So after opening the back, I saw that my second ram slot has no tabs to lock it in place. Does this mean I can only use one slot? Sorry for the late comment.

note some laptops dont has memory door some laptops have non memory door which you can upgrade just has to take out the whole bottom part of laptop like mine is hp gaming pavilion and i has to take whole bottom off to access memory it varies from laptop to laptop just to note on that!

My specs are 8.0gb ram
Would I need to install anything for the memory to work without having my laptop messed up? Sorry if this sounds like a bad question since I'm worried that upgrading my ram would do so since I'm a bit new to upgrading my laptop
You will not need to install any software/app for the memory to work.
sir my laptop tends to run out of memory RAM and then it will restart by itself btw this is a new laptop... will adding more ram will resolve the issue? also we have the same specs

According to ASUS support website your memory spec for X540up is: DDR4 2133MHz SDRAM Onboard Memory (non-removable) and 1 x SO-DIMM socket for expansion, up to 16 GB SDRAM.

Can I ask? What is electro-static discharge and how it affects the ram, is ESD affects ram or not?
ESD is not good for RAM. Suggest to get greater understanding and details: Google using keywords: electro-static discharge
Thanks for the tutorial! Some of the other tutorials for upgrading your ram in laptops here on youtube say that you should remove the battery or make sure there is no power to the motherboard before changing the ram so that you do not short circuit your computer. Is there a reason why you don't do that? Have you noticed any problems? Is it possible on your computer? How do I do that with a battery that is non-removable?

Put an SSD adapter in it’s place. But the CPU is the one. That has been bugging me. I know it has an old 2 Core. But how high can I go. Before the Laptop. Can’t run it any more. Now with your link. Does the new ram has to be the same speed as your current ram speed? I have 8gb 2666 ddr4 but can I buy 2400? as they are cheaper.
The speed does not need to match. However, all of the RAM speed will downgrade/run at the lowest RAM speed that is installed in your system. In other words, if you install the RAM 2400 then the existing 8gb 2666 ddr4 will run at 2400 too.

Is there a way to tell how many memory slots your laptop has before opening it up? I'm not sure but I believe my new laptop has room for a second memory stick. I plan on sooner or later buying this cheap 20$ memory stick for an extra 4GB ram.

I recently bought 2 8GB DDR3/DDR3L SODIMM to upgrade my DELL Latitude E6430 from 8GB to 16GB. Now I have to get 2 more for the Lenovo IdeaPad N580.
The DDR2 DIMM will be for both the Sony VAIO PCV-2253 and HP Pavilion a6110n.

My laptop currently has 8 GB ram (4 solded and 4 on the free slot).
I am planning to remove the 4gb from the free slot and add 8gb ram in its place,because my motherboard supports a maximum of 12gb(idrk about that),but i was told that if i do that i will lose stability or RAM frequency,and fps will have huge spikes.

4GB if you have a 2nd RAM slot open and available. Or replace the 4GB stick with a 8GB stick if you only have a single RAM slot.

The best way to absolutely confirm that, is to open up your Laptop and visually take a look at the RAM slots.
My Acer predator Helios 300 has 1 stick of 8gb ddr4 2666 (idk the brand). If I add 1 stick 16gb Crucial ddr4 2666, will that cause any problems?

A laptop max RAM is the limit, any more will not be seen and would be a waste of money.

@@crazydude9496 If u have an extra slot then u can add but u have to commit the allowed maximum memory don't make the total memory more than the maximum .lf u don't have an extra slot then you can exchange the old memory stick with new one bigger but keep committing the allowed maximum memory.

Hello sir, I have an Acer Travelmate p215-52g it has 2 slot of ram upgradable at max. 64 gbs. My initial memory is 4gb adn I want to add another 4gb to make a total 8gbs of ram. My question is, since the motherboard of my laptop is not like the aspire, do I need to remove the battery first? Or I straight up put the additional ram on it?
You can insert additional RAM without removing the battery. But first make sure the laptop is completely and fully powered off and the AC charging cable is not plugged into the laptop.

Hello, My HP pavilion has a few screws on the front of the laptop. It has 4gb ram and an extra slot which I would like to put 8gb ram in. I would like to know if unscrewing these will reveal the cpu, ram, motherboard ect...

Normally, CPU, RAM, GPU (if any) etc are only visible when opening the notebook from the backside
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. But I do have a question. My bank says 2 banks of 1, which means I have two slots, but only one is occupied. Do I need to buy two slots to upgrade to 16 or just one to upgrade to 16? I have 8gb installed right now. (I don't want to like confuse the system with two different branded memory slots).
Based on what you have described, just one additional stick of compatible 8GB RAM that you would insert into the empty slot will work OK. This will give you a total of 16GB RAM.

It's telling you that you have 2 slots available for memory. That you have one stick of 4GB of removable memory in each slot and that your max memory for your computer is 16GB. And in order to upgrade to max of 16GB, the 2 sticks of 4GB would need be replaced with 2 sticks of 8Gb each (1 single 8GB sick in each slot) for total of 16GB.

Also be shure to check the type of specs your old ram sticks has. For me i was using so-dimm memory for laptops. I was installing it into a laptop that only supported PC3l NOT PC3. But unfortunately i ordered pc3 so-dimm ddr3 memory and the laptop did not start it just kept posting.

@@lavendxrfz2003 Just look up the ram stick online by scanning it's barcode. Then find a website that will give you detailed information. You won't realy need to worry since most ram these days are compatible. It's really just on ebay we're you need to be a bit more careful.

If your Slot: 1 (1 bank of 1) is empty then yes you can add another 4GB to get a total of 8GB.

They can be different RAM speeds, but the RAM speed will run at the lowest RAM used.
can we install the one with 3200mhz on every laptops?
Not all laptops/desktops support that RAM speed. Your computer will only run at the max RAM speed it supports.

thank you so much sir i am going to upgrade my laptop ram for sure. i could get a gaming pc right now but i need to finish college first i have 1 year left but even then the pc prices are too high right now and my friends are telling me not to do it. one thing is i have amd radeon graphics card and it have very low vram. i also have amd ryzen 5 so im hoping that can run a game like rust with 20gb ram... i also have only 120gb ssd so i might upgrade that im storing all my games on external hard drive i will see if its possible.
