Such a beautiful, powerful song about the futile but diligent human struggle to push back against an impossibly powerful force of nature. This recording captures that feeling well.
I know right, this music is very powerful and intense. They really need to watch the original film, if that doesn’t convince them otherwise, I don’t know what will.
I remember seeing the first Godzilla film when I was about six years old. of course I rooted for Godzilla. this was playing as they tried to kill Godzilla if I remember correctly. it broke my heart that they wanted him gone that badly, but I understood why. that day I grew up a little.
come on, everyone was rooting for godzilla. i see him not as much a metaphor for the bombing as a response to it, an equally powerful, but opposite force
Doctor Nega wow you were more responsible when you were 6 and I was 9 when I saw (I saw the other ones just not the first ) and I didn't give a crap about the military but now it's kinda sad in a way if you think about the military going off to die
I remember this march from the first Godzilla when the Japanese Navy was fighting him in the movie. Saw it as a child. First film is the best! (Minus Raymond Burr of course!)
You out there gotta realize...I + my siblings saw this So Many Times on "million dollar movie" on channel 9 here in NYC...being born in 1953, it was only a matter of a few years before Ch. 9 picked it up...we knew the whole movie by heart, and the music, too, and still have "Godzilla Dreams"...where G is coming to get us, and we can not Hide...
+hermanschwartz65 yup....Million dollar Movie. 7:30 and 9pm m-f...3 or 4X sat and sun! Couldn't beat it. "Gone with the Wind" theme song. "Godzilla dreams" for me too. The natives gong the bell warning of a sighting and his imminent approach...me, having seen the movie 200+ times realize that hiding in a building basement, not the 20th floor like reporter Steve Martin , Ill outsmart him. Unfortunately Godzilla figures it out and summons me to come to the roof where I pay him $5 to leave me alone....I kid you not!! So he was a sport too. Thanks hs65 for the memory. pwmd
I remember hearing this for the first time watching Monster Zero as a kid on television Saturday afternoon, and it really got me into the scene. It's always stuck in my mind as one of those perfect instances of music and image.
If your not bobbing your head and tapping your foot in blissful ignorance of anything around you the moment this music starts...there is something wrong.
I have been looking for the full version of this forever! Thank you from the bottom of my black heart! ^.^ Long live Akira Ifukube Ishiro Honda and Gojira!
To be precise, one of the earliest uses of a motif used in this work is "Kishi-mai", a naval march that Ifukube wrote as a commissioned work from the Navy. (Ifukube claimed that this march was performed when General MacArthur arrived in Japan after the war. Today it is believed to be a misunderstanding due to listening to radio broadcasts, which used a recording.) As you know, he also used this motif for music in "Godzilla", "Invasion of Astro-Monster", and so on. There is a record that a band performed "Kishi-mai" in a live broadcast (April 8, 1943. Currently, this is thought to be the premiere, and possibly the only performance in wartime).
YESH! man I've been looking so long for this particular song I remember this played during the boat scene and I could never find it again thanks a lot for uploading this !
Godzilla, Rodan, and Ghidorah: *nervous sweating* Edit: The transitions into the War Of The Gargantuas/Godzilla vs Mothra theme and the Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II theme are what keeps me going, let alone the rest of the amazing track.
Put this in Godzilla: King of the monsters (2019)... it belongs there. You wouldn't make new star wars movies without their iconic scores, nor would you make godzilla movies without the iconic music. #godzilla #michaeldougherty #legendarypictures
I agree, they're trying so damn hard to make this next one feel like an actual Godzilla movie, but they HAVE to bring Akira Ifukube's works into this franchise if they want to succeed. It's like the Halloween or Rocky movies without the theme, it just doesn't work that well. And if Ready Player One could do it, Godzilla himself HAS to. After what went down with DCEU and the Universal's Dark Universe, I desperately want Godzilla's new kaiju universe to be the next great cinematic universe after Marvel. Fingers crossed, goji fans!
I wonder if this song will be in the new one, I'd imagine people standing and cheering as soon as they see military soldiers marching and this starts playing!

After WW2, most Japanese had deep regret and regression. They develoved big monster as symbol of violence and War-itself. But, you know, they were doing justice between the war for the purpose to save Asian people against the Allies. They were fully simple and partly right.

So many countless hours I spent with my father watching these films over and over again. I'll be sure to do the same with my kids.

Such a beautiful, powerful song about the futile but diligent human struggle to push back against an impossibly powerful force of nature. This recording captures that feeling well.
And taking in the information that we know there could be something like Godzilla out there, and we're having unusual visitors
I thought I was still listening to Caramelldansen so I was confused when I saw this comment
Very well said.
Ifukube sensei: One of the best film composers of all time.
John Williams Sucks Balls
@Andrew Crowley Alright
People always think of the Godzilla movies as harmless fluff for kids, but with truly majestic music like this, it's hard to see why.
I know right, this music is very powerful and intense. They really need to watch the original film, if that doesn’t convince them otherwise, I don’t know what will.

God damn man. Me too. Right in the feels!
Funny, cuz that means you were rooting for atomic bombing(since Godzilla is a metaphor for that)...
come on, everyone was rooting for godzilla. i see him not as much a metaphor for the bombing as a response to it, an equally powerful, but opposite force
Doctor Nega wow you were more responsible when you were 6 and I was 9 when I saw (I saw the other ones just not the first ) and I didn't give a crap about the military but now it's kinda sad in a way if you think about the military going off to die
I would love to be at a military parade and have this played.
Especially on a victory march after defeating a kaiju
Only if they also have kaiju parade floats too. xD
I want this played at my funeral.
The most epic theme soundtrack for the great metaphor that embodied Godzilla. Fitting for such a great saga.
I remember this march from the first Godzilla when the Japanese Navy was fighting him in the movie. Saw it as a child. First film is the best! (Minus Raymond Burr of course!)
Man that scene sent a chill down my spine
@黑狮子 well without Burr for the 85 film, it would have been a straight up comedy (English version). He actually does really well.
long live the king, this is the true power of a Godzilla movie.

Music just doesn't get better than this.
Listening to this and knowing that production for the 2014 Godzilla has began and Akira Takarada will have a role gets me hyped uuuuup !!!
Fun fact: did you know ifukube wrote this piece for the Japanese military in wwii
I don't want to against my own country, but kind of wondering how the Japanese didn't win the war with this piece playing as their march
They only have them selves to blame, their is so much they could have insured they improved apon before starting their campaign.

This is better than anything every written by Sousa.
Favorite Gojira song, The march is awesome.
This tune is also known as the Japanese March from Godzilla: King of Monsters.
Godzilla, Rodan, and Ghidorah: *nervous sweating*
Edit: The transitions into the War Of The Gargantuas/Godzilla vs Mothra theme and the Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II theme are what keeps me going, let alone the rest of the amazing track.
thank you for the upload !
i will march on ; )
goes to show ya....... even Godzilla can be classical !!! :) very cooooool--------->
+Daniel W. Toho kaiju scores can be considered as classic for me
This is not from the movie soundtrack. It's much longer and much more complex. wonderful.
haha this music sounds more victorious to us fans searching for ages for this tune and finally finding it :P
I think this uses the marches from Kaiju Daisenso, Frankestein no Kaiju Sandra tai Gaira, and Gojira VS Mekagojira 1993.
this is my favorite theme
wow, i rember thos was my favriot song as a child. so awsome to find it.

I wonder if this song will be in the new one, I'd imagine people standing and cheering as soon as they see military soldiers marching and this starts playing!
In the last Showa series Gamera movie, it showed him burning a billboard with Gojira on it. I would love to see some thing like that done too.
Put this in Godzilla 2019

Do anyone got a napkin? There's a small red blotch of ketchup on the like bar!!!
@SuperNoob09 Go to Ifukube's website for information on the publisher.
I would choose a different city, even though its iconic to destroy. Godzilla movies would be canceled, be cause most of the staff would be dead!
