When you leave the garbage bag attached to the roll. When you pull the full one out. The new on automatically comes up. And you don't have to dumpster dive into it
I've never had a problem finding something that I've lost on the ground in my work shop. When ever I kneel down to look for it it always finds its way right between my knee and the concrete without fail.
For rope/wires I now do the "roadie wrap"! It's just wrapping it in circles, but you alternate going over or under on each pass. No knots, and when you want to unroll it you basically just toss it where you want it to go while holding one end and it fully unravels like butter. Yours might be better for transportation so it doesn't accidentally unravel, but for a dedicated garage hook or something, the roadie wrap is awesome!
Here's a tip for when you're winding rope or any sort of cable. if you want to extend the life of your power cords and want to easily throw the bundle to uncoil it, you should use the roadie wrap, it's hard to explain in a comment but I recommend looking up a video on how to do it. it'll make your cables and rope coils look neat and prolong the life of your electrical cables (really any cable in general) and keep them from coiling when you try to lay them out flat.
I do that with my guitar cables - they always end up fucked lmao
3 года назад+9
I stagehand (well usesd to) for a small band and have taught countless people how to over under the cable, because every musician I met absolutely mangled their cables. Never do the over the elbow thing to any signal wire, cheapo ethernet cables can handle that rough treatment like three or four times before they break.
best thing about that wrap style is that it allows you to hold one end of the cable, and then throw to coil in the direction you want to run it in. If you wrapped it right the cable will unwind neatly in a straight line.

It's honestly playing with fire. All it takes is an errant elbow and now you have a dead battery appearing charged. They should do it the other way around so if they accidentally knock over a charged battery then the worst that will happen is they try to recharge a charged battery
@@Jomskylark yeah, way too easy to knock them around. Get two small plastic storage boxes - one red, one green. It’s pretty obvious which batteries are in which box if you keep on top of it!
Quick suggestion for the battery charging station. Instead of having dead batteries standing up and charged batteries down, you should switch that around to have them fail safe incase someone bumps into the table they're on or knocks one over. You could have down=dead and up=alive, that way if one is standing up and gets knocked down the worst that can happen is it goes back on the charger rather than a dead battery getting knocked down causing you to think it's charged and bringing dead batteries to the field.
Or just an elbow, or moving a case and knocking it over by accident. Switch the order so fully charged stand up and you'll never be taking a battery you think is full but actually is empty and just got knocked over
Just wanted to say that I am not into mountain biking, probably will never mountain bike. I recently got a Schwinn comfort bike and looking for information about bikes in general stumbled upon the channels. I find them informative and entertaining. A lot of the information carries over to comfort bikes I feel. My bike has a suspension fork, suspension seat post and mountain bike style handlebars and so on and so forth. I still need to acquire some tools and figure out a good place to work on our bikes, but enjoying it so far. Wife's bike is and old Mongoose mountain bike. I just replaced the bars with Dimension aluminum 60mm riser bars for her comfort. Looking forward to catching up on all your videos. Just caught up here on the Express channel. As a sailor, I commend your rope trick. Small bit of advice for using 3-strand rope: coil it clock-wise. Doing this works with the twist in the rope and completely takes away the potential of it kinking up on you. Ride-on!
Quick tip! Instead of using the end of the rope, use one of the coils to wrap around the bundle of rope instead. That way you get a little loop to use as a hanger (:
Also because a standing up battery can be easily knocked over by accident and then give the false impression that it's charged. Whereas if it's the other way around and you can only knock over fully charged batteries then the worst case is you try to recharge a fully charged battery.

I've found out that getting oil in your brake/gear cables is way easier with a jig saw. Just tape the end of the wire on the jigsaws blade and make a cup on the end of the cable housing that holds your desired oil/grease. And then let er rip - the back and forth motion forces the grease inside the cable housing. Quick and mess free.
i know it's been a while since this was posted, but the garbage can hack can be leveled up +1 by drilling a 1/4" hole or two in the bottom of the can on the side. It relieves the vacuum, suction and static that makes the bag hard to pull out, and also allows the back to be perfectly formed to the inside of the can when you put a fresh one in. I know it's hard to drill a hole in a perfectly good can, but it forces you to only use bags in the can keeping everything cleaner.
For the garbage bag hack, I just put like 3 or four bags on how your supposed to and they’re already open so you don’t have to open it. I use the rope trick on shortening or storing speaker wires, HDMI cables or ethernet cables. Do you know about the 1 flick twist when wrapping up extension cables? Basically the way you were wrapping up the rope in the fist clip but with wire it starts to bind up. Give it a flick and a half twist in the direction it's starting to pull and it will wrap up in a perfect circle every time.
