At our shop we do just the thing, use the small impact to secure the wheels to the hub somewhat, if you weren't brave enough to do a few quick zips with the full-sized air impact, lower the car then torque 'em. I love using that Makita DTW251z, a quality tool that works like a charm. And then to have that 10$ thing do just that, yea i'd actually buy it. If something's got big torque, i'll break it loose with the breaker bar, and use that cheap piece of shit to do the rest aside from torquing them down. Of course i'm not gonna expect it to last for years, but i'm sure i'll get at least some of my money worth out of that thing. People buy a lot more useless things for even more expensive than 10$.
I'd find it useful for a lot of things. Not heavy duty stuff I'd use a real impact wrench for, but light-duty stuff you'd use a regular socket for. I'd personally use it a lot. I have a corded impact wrench, which is quite useful but a bit of a hassle to drag the cord out for it, so if only doing light-duty stuff I'll typically stick with a socket set. This could make such work go a lot faster, a convenient but not capable tool.

@@charlestimmons604 you wouldn't need to get under the car to change a tire, and if your doing car repairs you always should use jack stands and tire blocks.
My experience with these sorts of products is that they DO work, but they have almost no durability. Need it once? You're fine. Need it a hundred times? Maybe get your tools from somewhere else. EDIT: Also, sometimes the factories in China produce name brand tools, then produce the *exact same tool* for another brand. All they do is change the stencil and box. That's probably why that sander they used was comparable to the Bosch sander they showed - it IS the Bosch sander, just with a different name.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was an unbranded Bosch. Like how companies will sell models to more well known companies and they'll just slap a name on it.
@@shadypalmtree2989 It's very common in grocery retail. Having worked in grocery for over a decade, it's become pretty easy to tell which products are rebranded brand names. For example; most grocery chain's store/private brand 24 pack drinking water is actually Deer Park water. It comes from the same exact bottling plants, on the same exact bottling lines, using the exact same water. The line doesn't even stop to change labels. Each bottling run let's say a thousand Deer Park branded bottles are filled, directly followed by a thousand Kroger branded bottles, then Walmart etc etc.
@@shadypalmtree2989 I doubt it is a Bosch. Don't be fooled by the color. Tack Life is owned by Aukey. Tack Life/Aukey used to sell these on Amazon, until they got caught using a paid reviewer service to place fake positive reviews for their Tack Life products. At the time they were selling them on Amazon, you could find about a half a dozen of the identical same sander being marketed under different "brand names", each with a different color. This is the same identical sander being sold at Harborfreight under their Bauer name, which are Red. If anything, these are just re-badged Harbor Freight tools.
I'd use the $10 impact to take bolts out when disassembling something. I have a dewalt impact drill that I use currently. I'm sure that would work in it's place. What does it weigh?
I actually have that same jack, got it from Amazon though. It's fantastic to take on car trips for emergencies. It beats bringing the manual pump or using the factory installed jack. We actually used it on our aluminum car trailer and it did the job well. So I would recommend it honestly. But, since you threw it away, I'll gladly recycle that for ya.
$10 "impact" I'd gladly break it loose by hand and zip everything out. I got all Dewalt stuff now but back when $250 was alot of money to me I would of loved that thing
Agree - not suitable for "heavy duty" stuff like a good impact, but a very convenient light-duty tool. Not a replacement for your Milwaukee impact, but - at times - a faster alternative to a ratchet. I'd totally use that if they gave it to me, I have a corded impact I use sometimes but the cord is too much bother in some cases so I just use a ratchet - this thing would be great from a convenience perspective.
This has definitely become my favourite show from donut the chemistry is on point and it's genuinely unpredictable every episode, and to me that's what makes the best episodes... Keep up the awesome work.
For $10 I feel like comparing it to Milwaukee is wrong. That's a tool to use around the house for odd jobs and not the shop. $10 for an impact that can remove a lug is a keeper. That's a new, frugal homeowners dream.
@@Outwardpd no it's not the issue. Here the seller lie on the price by making the object 10$ and the shipping 200$. The plasma cutter for example is clearly not worth just 30$, but it's just a trick used by seller to get a better ranking.

I was surprised by the electric scissor jack. I wouldn't trust it to lift the entire rear end of my Escalade but to lift one wheel at a time....I think yes. As a handy but non-professional guy the most useful advice I got when it came to tools was: start with the cheap stuff, and when it breaks replace it with something better. I'm not a carpenter or contractor using this gear daily. Every year I might do a handful of jobs that need specialized electric or air tools - unless I'm using them every day, the cheap stuff is still going to last me for years even if they wear out way sooner than the professional grade. Anything I use enough to wear out quickly, I replace it with something mid or upper grade. The things they "trashed" here would still all be worth holding on to if you didn't have anything better, and using until they failed.
I partially disagree. I guess it all depends on how much you would plan on using it, but even the average homeowner would probably use something enough to make it worthwhile spending a bit more on something that will last all your life, instead of just a few years. You don’t even need to get the super expensive shit, but why pay 10 bucks for an impact that might last a few projects when you can pay 80 bucks for something that will actually last. Buying something you anticipate will break is stupid and wasteful. In both money and now you’re contributing to more junk being thrown into landfills
They left out all of the shipping costs. Shipping is often more than the item itself! Pisses me off how they misrepresent wish as cheap, when it absolutely is not.
That $10 tool set is another reason why it's INEXCUSABLE for a household to not have a basic tool kit. I know too many people who call expert help every time a smallest stupid thing comes up that only requires a simple tool and a google search at best to sort out.

They gave up on it way too quickly, should have troubleshot it a bit. They were ready to declare it junk as soon as they heard the price, didn't give it a fair chance.

So , what we need to do is give this to the coconut who changes oil .
@@texasslingleadsomtingwong8751 If you see someone actually use an impact just to deal with the filter and the drain plug, you know to look somewhere else. Like plenty of times it's fine to use an impact on plenty of suspension and a few engine parts. But nobody would be dumb enough to use them on spark plugs, drain plugs, internals' or cylinder head's bolts.
@@sirbrokenlegs2074 I've had my fair share of way over tightened oil drain plugs , enough to make me think the guy in the bunker has a five foot cheater or a very quiet impact , lol
Build quality/durability is one thing when it comes to cheaper tools, but safety is the biggest issue.
Nah
Shutup nerd
Zzzz
Well, yeah. If you can't afford expensive tools you likely can't afford the lawyer for when you cheap tool maims you.
Never had a problem with my harbor freight tools, use the jack every day, but i wouldnt trust tools that are cheaper than the materials should have been
I'd love to see them make an entire mechanic starter kit using exclusively wish tools. Either set a budget or have a competition to see who can do it cheapest.
Like impacts, hand tools, sockets, organizers, tool box, everything. Close to everything that a C or B level tech would need to get through the week. That'd be fun to see who can get the most functional, and diverse tool collection this way.
Good idea!!
The one whose tools function for the lowest price get the point. So tools that are so cheap that they don’t work would lose you the round.
Kind of like price is right but for cheap tools.
@@megladon6 Maybe do it like a classic Top Gear Challenge? For $1500 or so, someone buys their first car and has to use the change leftover from the purchase price for tools to learn routine maintenance.
This is a fantastic idea. They already stole the magnet "best of" board from Top Gear. Why not the challenge structure too 🤣🤷♂️
No, but really. This sounds like a great idea and would watch HOURS of them doing stuff like that from them.
Jeremiah totally dug that electric jack out of the trash after filming was wrapped lol
I think they failed to realize that wish sellers don’t actually sell those items that low. They make the price low but then they add a lot in shipping, so while the tool set was $10, they most likely charged a lot more in shipping, making the actual price a lot more.
Exactly! Shipping on the wrench is $90 and shipping on the plasma cutter is over $200
Yep. Or its for a sold out colour, toy version, some size of item that noone would ever use, or just an accessory. You need to click buy and add to your cart to actually see what you would get or what you would pay.
Same goes for eBay and aliexpress usually
@@jbarzee0001 That impact wrench for a total of $100 totally changes the proposition. I _wish_ they had mentioned the total price.
The shipping issue is new. It goes up and down daily.
@@noobsimdriver it is not a new issue. Ordering from China has always been that way. It started on eBay over 20 years ago because you only paid fees based on sales prices now including shipping.
The plasma cutter definitely needed more investigation, it would have probably been an easy fix. I have the exact same one only I paid 120 for it and it cuts great
I was just saying the same thing and then looked at the comments and seen your comment. They should investigate. They can probably do a whole episode just on that plasma cutter.
I bet styropyro can make a 1 MW pulse laser with it.
I need to know what was wrong with it. Like, was it just a valve needed opened somewhere? Need. More.
@@CDCI3 Same here, my mind is just stuck there now why it didnt worked? i would have spend hours on it before I come to a conclusion that its dead. Should have tweaked it a lil more for our satisfaction lol
@@MW-zy4no Right? They were seeing 0 PSI? In my mind, I think it has to be one of two things:
1. The regulator and the gauge are separated (by a valve?) and there is pressure built up somewhere.
2. There's a massive leak before the gauge.

I've had that exact electric scissor jack (thought from Amazon) for over a year now and I love it actually, yeah it is bulky it takes up less space then a regular floor jack if you travel, just have to remember to grease the threaded shaft from time to time!
Seems very useful for older people.
Yeah, I thought this was a miss - your car probably already has a manual scissor jack or something near a spare tire (or space for a spare) so it wouldn’t take up much room at all, maybe just get rid of the hard case.
I would totally take that jack. You guys at donut can send it to me!!!
I have two! Great for lifting a car in a tight garage where you can’t get leverage on a longer jack bar. A bit slow, but faster than a traditional manual jack of the same type. Love them!
It takes up as much space as the jack kit you get with the car. Nothing worse than twisting up a manual scissor jack on rough asphalt
The $10 impact wrench is listed now for $91.
Of course it is they had to raise the price after Donut media gave them this glowing review!! 😂😂😂
Lmao great buy still clearly 😂
the tool kit is 40$ now as well
Donut tax
@brent randall What does biden have to do with this....i swear he's gonna live rent free in all his haters heads. You say his name like it has relevance..😂
The air diaphragm is likely screwed in place for shipping like my soldering station's heat gun, look at the bottom for the bolt that needs removed.
Exactly. Didn't read the instructions. It'd be pretty hard to make a bad plasma cutter, there's not that much to them.
I would never buy yhis thing. But if i somehow receved it for free I would take the time to see if I could get it working...
Yeah obviously the airline is plugged somewhere so it's probably literally a 20 second fix like pulling a stopper or a plug or a screw out
That was probably the missing plug for the valve, you take it out from one spot and put it there.
Yeah it is really annoying that they made no attempt to try and get it to work. Almost like they wanted it to fail.
The impact wrench is indeed $10, but they left out the fact that the “shipping” is $90.
Yep. Or you could pay more for cheaper shipping. The same item at 90 dollars would only charge 11 dollars shipping. Lol, but sadly true
Or that it didn't include batteries.
Nope
I have the electric jack and for those of us with bad backs its a life saver. I've never regretted buying it and it fits in the trunk of my grand prix just fine
You can get a nice hydraulic one with a long handle that will last forever for 150$ ish bucks at harbor freight...
@@WHATDATTOOLDO Long handle jack isn't so convenient for lugging around in the trunk
The “Jobe” swish threw me so much I genuinely laughed way more than I should! You two just work together so well!

Kinda feel bad saying I have that yellow electric jack, but it works great and super convenient especially when you get a flat in the city. Fits with my tire kit great in my trunk. Keep it with me all the time. Love it. Recommend it.
@koiun dwrru I've used it a hard dozen times. It's been very consistent and handles my car just fine.
I thought it was weird that they trashed it after proving it works much better than they expected.
It's faster than a regular jack
I wouldn't trust it enough to roll under a car unless I braced it with the harbor freight jack stands I got from a pawn shop but I could see it being pretty handy

The "Jobe" when shooting the battery in the trash really caught me off guard lol
but it was gold
Hey, for a cheap sander that was pretty alright! -Edgar
Okee dokee
No. No it wouldn’t. It would break remember u pay for what u get
Mad respect to the editors, really make the humor work!
Exactly, they acting like they really enjoy using the og jack over pressing a button
I figure it wouldn't make sense to carry with you due to bulk/weight, but would be a nice thing in the shop.
@@quillmaurer6563 the factory jack takes up almost as much space. I bet you it will fit where that one goes.
Thanks
$10 "impact" I'd gladly break it loose by hand and zip everything out. I got all Dewalt stuff now but back when $250 was alot of money to me I would of loved that thing
Seems like it's best function. Still for $10 what would you expect.
Seems like what it is, just a stronger ratchet
My only issue with this kind of series is that shipping cost isn't included.
Since it doesn't matter if something is 1$ , is shipping costs 100$.
Shipping is complicated because sometimes they'll offer free shipping and sometimes the shipping costs are negligible with a large enough order
@@Outwardpd no it's not the issue.
Here the seller lie on the price by making the object 10$ and the shipping 200$.
The plasma cutter for example is clearly not worth just 30$, but it's just a trick used by seller to get a better ranking.
Usually on wish the shipping is actually a good price, usually less than 5$
@@loganries7066 The shipping on the impact was $90
This testing things from different sources is by far one of my best donut media series ever . Love them trying and reviewing these stuffs for our knowledge and entertainment.
Problem with the "reviews" is that they are just showing their bias and lack of imagination. Most of the stuff worked fine, but sure you wouldn't use it every day in a workshop...which is why it was so cheap.
I was surprised by the electric scissor jack. I wouldn't trust it to lift the entire rear end of my Escalade but to lift one wheel at a time....I think yes. Also when doing oil changes just to get a little extra ground clearance to access the oil pan and filter. I think I may look into one....but a better quality one. Honestly I didn't even know these existed. I guess I'm old school....I roll out the hydraulic floor jack for everything. LOL.
The $10 impact wrench could be the basis of a ton of d.i.y. projects tho :)
Like a electric scissor jack 😉

Too funny.
Never saw you guys before but I like the show. Thank you
I think the Plasma Cutter deserves a second chance!
Same - I'd totally watch a video of them trying to get it working.
I'd love to see what's inside the case. I think it was just a factory reject. Those things are nigh on impossible to fix when they croak. They weren't designed with repair in mind.
There are internal air adjustments. I had the cut50 and upgraded to the 220V version. And have been using it for about 7 yrs. They are a little temperamental, but with a little practice (and patience), they've cut everything I've thrown at them.
I bought one of the electric jacks from Harbor Freight after the Ford one bent changing a tire on crap ground. It actually worked for what I bought it for, only to change a tire on roadside issue. I think it was $50.
I would have loved to see the plasma cutter working
Honestly I'm tempted to buy that orbital sander, on very very rare occasions I think, hmm I wish I had an orbital for this instead of my palm sander so this might fit the bill for me
You better off buying a used one on Fb marketplace. I had a 20 bucks black and decker and it lasts forever.
I think you send the plasma cutter to AVE for an in-depth tear down ,great video
There's a guy here with a channel called DiodeGoneWild and he knows his electronics. He'd either get it working or figure out exactly why it can't work. But he's in Czechoslovakia. So shipping it to him may be hard. Mostly he just reviews crappy USB chargers though.
7:26 I love how he carefully puts the scissor jack inside the trash can 😂😂😂😂😂😂 he probably wants a refund.
Thanks Jimmy for your hard work and dedication to the Donut team!
The tack life stuff isn't too bad. When I went to aviation maintenance school, several of my classmates had tack life welding helmets, and they worked great and were surprisingly tough
14:54 $30 plasma cutter should have taken the cover off to see what you got for $30. Was it just a box with dials and switches?
the thing is, we have a lot of burner tools like theses at work (crap tools u dont care to trash) stuff like undertrays ect the impact would be good as u wont de-thread them and the junk tool box would be great to have when u need to hammer stuff, i may actual buy that impact would be usefull when i dont want to break things
The jack would be good for someone older or disabled. Combined with an impact and some people would be able to change a tire when they normally couldn't.
But if they’re old or disabled how they got change the tire after its up lol
@@chickenpotpie79 impact or torque multiplier to do the lug nuts, lots of elderly or disabled can move a wheel, but don't have the hand strength to run a jack or lug wrench.
This is becoming one of my favorite series you guys have done.
open the plasma cutter case up, see if it's just a fan and weights or if they actually tried making something that works.
Props to Jimbo for being able to stand on that tiny peg. You da real MVP.
Glad you uploaded today. The days when donut is silent is always a bummer 😆
Was actually hoping the plasma cutter would work love these types of videos keep up the good work lads
yeah i was sad they didn't try to trouble shoot it. it powered on maybe the plug for the regulator was on the end of the hose or something... i dunno. I mean the sander they didn't even plug in at first.
I have a supposedly similar plasma cutter (looks similar, says "Cut 50," but is blue) that works reasonably well. Can't do a lot because if I turn up the power much it pops the breaker, but that's not it's fault, if I had a higher-current or 220 outlet I bet it would do quite well. They gave up on it way too quickly, should have troubleshot it a bit. They were ready to declare it junk as soon as they heard the price, didn't give it a fair chance.
I'd keep that electric scissor jack, perfect for tire changes
i agree. i feel like they were harsh on the jack for no reason. trunk space and weight isn't really an issue if you're driving a normal car, especially for something that size. i actually want one lol
"It's on, it's got a fan. This thing's gunna cut." 😂
I turned on a drill from wish. It started a time loop that I can’t get out. I’ve been living this same day over and over again for 15 years now.

I can vouch for tack-life actually making some pretty decent power tools.
I *totally* would take that impact wrench. Would do great in an emergency.
I couldn’t find one for 10$ feel like they faked the prices or something because I found none of those items, realistically they’re great for thag price

I bought that orbital sander from Amazon a couple of years back. Cost me much more though...wish I'd gone to Wish! Either way, it was still cheap and I've used it for hours continuously on many different jobs.
It's also not 10$ on wish... They got played by seller displaying a lower price by exploding shipping cost.
10$ for the took kit was an absolute steal
Since the sander looks identical to the Bosch (and wasn't junk), my guess is that it was one that Bosch declined for whatever reason, so they just sold them unbranded
It doesn't even spin the same way the Bosch does.
I'll take the plasma cutter. Might not take much to get it to work. Would be a fun project to me.
