    Last time i did bulgarian split squats, it totally nuked my glutes, probably far more than my quads. It hadn't done them for a while before that, so the DOMS was absolutely insane. I almost couldn't walk for the nex five days. Five.

    • @tiernanastronskas261
      @tiernanastronskas261 Месяц назад +3

      Bulgarian split squats work almost entirely the glutes when you keep your back straight up with your chest up to the sky. They train the quads more when you lean forward more and emphasize your knee over your toe.
      That exercise is superior for Glute development though, because the load on your quads isnt going to be very high, and also going heavy is going to be very difficult due to stability issues and also just setting up the exercise can be a problem when you are pushing 60lbs+ with each dumbbell. This is an issue when trying to target the quads on this exercise because you will need a significant load to maximize quad growth. So stick with chest up high, back straight, and really focus on glute stretch during split squats.
      If you want to train more quad, i suggest deep leg presses, slow and controlled leg-extensions, and/or barbell squats. Just to clarify, Bulg split squats are designed to put the glutes into maximum hypertrophy, and while quads can be worked, that should not be the target with this exercise.

      @@tiernanastronskas261 may I ask what do you mean when chest up to the sky🙏🏻

    • @tiernanastronskas261
      @tiernanastronskas261 26 дней назад

      @@dolu5515 While you literally dont want to flex your back to point your chest to the ceiling, the Queue of trying to stick your chest up is supposed to keep your back straight up and down. So while you are keeping your back straight and stiff, focus on making sure your chest is as high as you can bring it without flexing your back.
      Its just a tool used to help keep your back in the correct position for the exercise.

    1. Thumbnail. What’s her handle? 😅
    2. Agree with high volume hip thrust. You see a lot of progressing in the weight but very little results glute growth.

    The video is saying “stay locked in” while the thumbnail is saying “don’t pull out”. Perfect synchronization.

    In earlier videos, you mentioned that pausing at peak contraction is generally considered having a worse SFR, advocating for a pause at the stretched position instead. What makes it here worth it then? I kind of agree it feels good, i just look for a more scientific explanation,
    Thanks

    • @SPRVLN27
      @SPRVLN27 Месяц назад +5

      Because Hip Thrusts are almost entirely a concentric biased exercise. There isn't any tension in the stretch position; there isn't really even a stretched portion to the lift. So if you're going to do a concentric biased movement, may as well milk the contraction.

      @@SPRVLN27 didnt think it through enough, makes sense. Assume the hybrid SLDL/ deadlift would stretch the glutes the most, or a front elevated bulgarian then
