    I know many of you are waiting for the boosted Mustang video and I’m in the middle of installing the centrifugal now (yes we’ll still turbo it). The format of the boosted Mustang video will mirror this one: install process > tune > race. Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like me to cover and/or do during that video.
    And as mentioned above, if you have any questions for me or want to support me directly, check out my Tazet profile. These videos are expensive in both time and money, so every little bit helps more than you would think and of course is extremely appreciated. 🙏

      I think the only thing that could/should have been added that not only does timing it wrong reduce overall power, but can cause damage. I had a 97 Trans Am which was notorious for breaking ring lands if you had detonation due to timing or being too lean. And yes, unfortunately I did it one day. I'd switched from race gas back to pump gas but forgot to adjust my blower (ignition) timing module back.

    Mopar/Viper guy here. Awesome video as usual, I thought the Viper did really well against the Audi considering all the advantages it had. Back in the day, there were a few guys in the Viper scene that achieved 600-650++ whp naturally aspirated so it's certainly possible with the right setup and tune. A personal friend of mine drag raced a '99 RT-10 for a number of years that actually had the engine built by Lingenfelter after leaving Hennessey. It was a super high compression (14.5:1) 545CID that put out somewhere around 850-900 HP and ran a best 1/4 time of 9.43@150+. Pretty cool what the Gen2 engines are still capable of!

    Great video. The editing and pace are really good with no boring bits. That Viper is a locomotive. Look at the power and torque graphs and see all the area beneath the curves. That's high-bandwidth performance. Also, it's 100 percent duty cycle performance on pump 91.

  • @Oroborus710
    @Oroborus710 2 месяца назад +4

    6:13 Minor mistake made here, but it's a very simple thing to mend that helps a lot when doing future oil changes. ALWAYS lubricate the oil filter gasket with some new oil, if you don't then the gasket will basically fuze to the mating surface. A lubed gasket will still seal fine if properly tightened, while still allowing for some movement whenever you go to remove the old filter. A dry gasket will remain still, as you struggle to untighten the filter with the gasket not moving at all. (Source: 4+ years of experience changing oil on cars for work)

    • @Oroborus710
      @Oroborus710 2 месяца назад +2

      I should also add, while this is probably a trivial thing to most people it is a very simple step to take to save yourself from future struggle when doing regular maintenance on your car. Ask any old gear-head if you should lube the oil filter gasket, they will all give you the same answer (unless they are incompetent)

      what torque wrench do you recommend in general? balance of accuracy and longevity?

    • @MediumHalf
      @MediumHalf 2 месяца назад +1

      @@Four_Eyes Sounds like they're gonna send you something, but since I saw this: torque wrenches are for tightening, not loosening. For loosening, an impact wrench (or, on the cheap or in tight spaces, a breaker bar) is the right tool for the job. I suspect Torque Test Channel will recommend a Milwaukee Fuel 1/2" drive impact wrench.
      Using a torque wrench as a breaker bar risks compromising its accuracy for the job it's meant for.

    When I was in auto tech school, they had a prototype V10 from Dodge. Yes, that V10. It was one of the engine from the prototyping phase of the Viper V10. It had a cast iron block & aluminum heads, IIRC. It was an entire engine from intake to oil pan.
    During our "engine - machanical" phase, the instructor said if I could take it all apart and get it back together using the proper torque specs & checking clearances of everything and it turns over easily, I'd get an A for that part of the class. Using the standard V10 specs for a cast iron block and the specs for assembling the aluminum heads from a viper, it all went together fine. No issues and no parts left over lol.
    I even got extra points when I put the GM 2.5L Iron Duke back together that some young guys took apart and never finished assembling. Tbh, I don't think they ever really started lol. That was a fun time. I'm the only person that was allowed out in the shop unsupervised. I was also 10 yrs older than everyone else and had that much more experience & knowledge.
    I was only there for technical reasons. I knew more than enough to work as a tech but no one would hire me because I didn't have any professional training. So I went there and got a technical diploma. I learned a few things but I knew a majority of the stuff they taught. So I was going for the paper saying Ive had real training by a recognized school & organization.
