I wonder how many Sendak rolls will be ordered after watching this video. You are the first person who has shown how to put just the right amount of materials in the role, while keeping it slim for travel. Writing Ink!
Hi Kriksis, I have the Sendak large pencil roll in moss brown and I love mine which I use at home and I put less in when I am travelling. The mini is lovely too, you have filled yours beautifully. I also have the pencil case. I love Peg ‘n’ awl products. I also love the smell of the Sendak and pencil case. It’s the wax canvas just so well made expensive but so worth the money. xxx

It was good you used a brush, glass pen and dip nibs with the gun ink, the gun ink is for dip pens and not fountain pens according to the description on the peg and awl website. I’d love to see your lightfastness tests. :)

You should always treat yourself on your birthday ! i treated myself to the larger Sendak after receiving some money for Christmas - love the products - great video as always
Most inks are dyes (dyes fade in light, idk about gun ink). For lightfastness what you want are pigmented inks that are ok for fountain pen use like eg: Platinum Carbon ink. There’s a few other brands also. The pigment is finely ground and the base medium isn’t sticky shellac etc so with care can be used in pens.
Loved how you set up your Sendak! I have the exact same one 😊 I tend to overpack mine and then I struggle to balance it when I’m out sketching. I have a similar color palette, I’m going to follow your lead and repack it.

I am slowly going through your past videos 😊 I have never used ink like this before; I wonder if anyone reading this knows whether left-handers can use these ink pens, or am I just going to smudge the page with my hand? I used to love calligraphy many years ago, but I remember having the same trouble back then. Would ‘lefties’ like me be better sticking to fast-drying things like Pigma pens? I have the Windsor & Newton Gouache too but I was never really using them, so I used some of your color mixing recipes and they turned out great! Designers are not concerned about lightfastness so if you use designers gouache for art, be mindful of which pigments are lightfast if you intend to gift or sell your work. Of course sketchbooks and scanning to digital are no worries. :)
Hello! I did start sewing the roll from the pattern, cut all the fabric, waxed it, even started sewing in some parts but I left it unattended for a month while I was in Latvia last year and for some reason the fabric became moldy. 😢 So I didn’t continue with the project
I would never have known you could wax fabric yourself - might need a process to eliminate chance of mould. UK and Ireland are humid. I didn’t have all the trimmings and buckles. Debbie’s pattern works well and easy enough to put together (@craftyvamp)- the first one is always a learning curve. I think getting wax fabric or nice upholstery fabric, I’ve seen another one using a liberty lining. Peg & Awl just quite pricey but nice ❤
