    **** Absolutely wonderful that someone is doing 'intros' for the variety of musical instruments..... It's sad that very few people are aware of many of even the typically used orchestral ones.... Please keep doing this.

      Philharmonia Orchestra (London, UK) Hi, I would just like to know if the orchestra would consider making a video on the Alto Clarinet. It's is a wonderful instrument that it highly underestimated and there are not many resources for the instrument on RUclips. I'm sure that many people would appreciate it. Thank you!

    I prefer playing the second violin part in my orchestra class. Not because it's easier than first violin, it's because I love to play a more harmonious part. Also because we don't have many seconds in my class. We don't have chairs yet but I sit in first chair because on the first day I had the class ( I have orchestra on B days so we started on the second day of school )no one wanted to sit in the second violin section and everyone wanted to sit near the back. We did playing test recently to see which section we are in ( second or first ) and what chair we are in.

    I got 2 questions:
    1. Is it all of the orchestra that follows you, or only the violins?
    2. If the are watching you, who is watching the maestro?

    • @SunlethSky
      @SunlethSky 8 лет назад +7

      1. Generally they follow their section leader, eg a brass section would listen to their principal player. The principal violinist leads the orchestra in general however.
      2. People are generally watching the conductor, and the principal in each section tends to pass on the message where there's something specific.
      That's just my orchestra though, I don't know if that's a general thing.

    Why are there many more violins than other string instruments in an orchestra?

  • @DmitryTimofeev
    @DmitryTimofeev 9 месяцев назад

    Dear Zsolt-Tihamer Visontay, my name is Dmitry Timofeev. I am a Russian composer. I really need your help. I couldn't find your email address anywhere. That's why I decided to write here. You recorded examples of violin sounds, and among these samples there is a sound - a natural harmonic "d#7". How did you get this harmonic? Have you tuned your violin a tone higher? And is this the harmonic "c#7" on the second string (sul A)? Or is it half-pressed on the first string (sul E) in normal tuning? And if so, how stable is this harmonic? It is very important for me. I would be very grateful if you take the time to answer my question!
    Sincerely, Dmitry Timofeev

      Question 2. When buying a violin, dont just go tk a store and pick one. Look up music stores u know about and look for ratings and reviews.Look for one that has different colors on the end of each string. & mostly for a beginner would be best. Hope I helped!

      Hi Javier, We don't have a saxophone member of the orchestra, but we'll keep this in mind for the future. There are some pretty great saxophone solos in the orchestral repertoire.

    what is the difference between a violin and a viola?

      Justine Franklin, there are many subtle differences between the two instruments. Size, pitch, timbre and their uses in orchestral music are a few of them. Check out our instrument guide to the viola and all will become clear - ruclips.net/video/XierDLeUiYg/видео.html

    Would it be possible to pick up the violin at 17 and play in an orchestra in years to come? Granted I have a grade 3 in music theory and I've always had very good muscle memory and use of my hands..

      If you are comitted, put in the practice, I see no reason why not, though you might have to put in a lot of work, given that your peers will have a headstart, but it's never too late to start!

      Nice, go for it! I started a couple of months ago! I absolutely love it. I try to practise 30minutes a day.
      I think it's important to get a teacher to show you the right posture/technique, that helped alot for me.
      I am a guitarist and singer as well, and I must say experience in music, especially having ear for pitch is
      a head start, but that is something you can develop!

      Johnny Bruce Muller I hope you become great! I've been playing for six years now and it's always funny seeing comments about just starting the violin cuz it makes me feel like I'm good lol

      startrekwarsmixguy Theguitarwhiz It is absolutely never too late to start.My Grandmother began playing the bass fiddle when she was 60, and played in our city's Orchestra until her death, rip.
      But yeah, that's not about me nor her, that's about you. You absolutely can with the right devotion.

    Is it possible to buy The Orchestra app for other platforms other than iTunes? I'd love to have it, but in my region Maldives, iTunes is not covered, sadly. Thanks
