And physics laws say nothing about the sound box size being flawed. All physics laws say is the sound box size will affect the timbre (by amplify harmonics in a certain frequency range). What makes a good musical sound is actually something outside the realm of physics, by which I mean, physics says nothing about it. I love this instrument's sound so much! Violins have such a.... high? Thin? sound sometimes that is almost too much for me. This has the sounds I like from the violin (I think cause as he said it shares some strings with the violin?) without the super thin ones, while the deeper sound from the viola is so beautiful! I wish these guys had more solos, or more... melodies (from what I understand from the comments) in orchestras. I just started liking classical music and I'm in love with this instrument. So beautiful.

What I think many of the violist haters don't realise is that roughly 3/4 of all the notes played on the viola are the same as the violin. 😐 and also the violists can shift on the A string to produce many of the same notes as a violin would on the E string. 😑 And the "out of tune" jokes- it depends on who's playing it. A violin can be equally out of tune if the wrong person is playing it.

I’ve played violin for years and hearing this makes me wish I learnt viola instead :( I love both but I’m into things with deeper sounds

As a lover of classical music and beginner in the world of composition,
this video series is a wonderful education. Thank you for sharing these
with the world and allowing a Trombone player learn the details of the rest of the orchestra.

the composer Brett Dean once said that there was an advantage of playing viola in Berlin Philharmonic that he could hear the music from the inside and all the inner voice which help him in learning how to orchestrate for an orchestra and make the all the part for the orchestra interesting to play.
