I use that bug catcher with the beedrills for the EV training too, it is such a good spot for it. Thank you, thank you. I felt I'd blasted through the game too easily lately and wanted something harder. I had no idea. I really enjoyed doing that second run actually. I agree, I feel it's totally plausible that that particular Shuckle would find its way to Kanto. It felt like the best way to get exactly the EVs that I wanted on Shuckle for the league. @bateltheassistant I'm not 100% sure how the translation to Gen 1 would go but that Squirtle team was nasty for Shuckle. STAB super effective Water moves hurt while we took 3+ shots to take them down!
I know Shuckle gets a bad rep but honestly in gen 2 you get it at the perfect time and it honestly over performs. solo runs are rough because there's certain setup for it but if you ever do a gen 2 run with a full team i would recommend picking it up, its a solid team sweeper and has all the tms it needs to do that as well! love the run, shuckle has been my favorite gen 2 bug and it has been for years!

U know what can maybe be on a equal level to this imo? a pineco/forretress run in firered. I shudder to think about the way u can clear without powerleveling or hidden power in place
Ahh, the nightmare of Pineco/Forretress. I can definitely see that one being painful. It feels like their greatest asset is blowing up, which doesn't bode well in solo runs 😅 At least my pain entertains thousands of people :) Thanks!
I just heard your joke about shuckle and what rhymes will shuckle .. Long time ago when I did my muk video I'll talk about how I wanted to name my muk and I couldn't think of anything but I thought what if I just spell it backwards
The moving background made me a little motion sick along with the sped up footage (maybe because i watch on 2x speed already), also, you could have the pokemon's current level and moveset on the overlay, scott's thoughts does that and it makes narration more dynamic.
Hmm I'll make a note of it thanks for letting me know. I'll have to experiment with watching it at 2x speed to see it myself. Scott's Thoughts is a genius though and his overlay incorporates GameHook which monitors the game's RAM live as he plays. Adding it all in post would be an astronomical amount of work manually. I plan to incorporate it in the future but my current computer can't even handle the emulator I need to run properly nevermind GameHook.
It's because they started fully evolved (not applicable in some cases) but also with the option of a single Egg move. It's the format I use in my VS runs as I find it adds some flavour the runs, and strategic diversity.
Why would you do this to yourself? This is almost as bad as deciding to do a Magikarp run.... No... Wait... don't do it! I was only being sarcastic!!!!! Okay gotta love the name of the shuckle: What's up, Shuckleheds?
So I was thinking about upcoming runs. Trade evolutions have been a popular request lately and my first thought was doing the Abra line. My second thought was that I've experienced enough pain lately. I ran out of characterd what can I say?
In the first run we were taking so much damage that our decoys were breaking in one turn - causing us to essentially lose 25% HP for nothing. I did try getting the Leftovers, and in the second playthrough I did use Sub/Leftovers along with Defense Curl/Rollout strats.
They weren't learnable moves in FireRed. The only way to get Defense Curl/Rollout was to trade to Emerald and learn from tutors in the region. I always do second playthroughs in my videos - the second run used them :)
@@Eggsceptional I didn't know that they were only tutor moves, I was listening while I was at work and guess I missed some things. You know that means I'll have to go back and listen again. Thanks for the response and keep up the amazing content!
@@treyparkerofficial Gotcha, it didn't really come up until the start of the second playthrough. It was easily missed! Thanks for watching! I'm glad you're enjoying the content :)

I guess I was hoping beyond hope. The fact that Defense Curl/Rollout wasn't an option in FR alone was what killed it. There I was being so optimistic. After adding those in the second run though Shuckle became was more fun :)
@@Eggsceptional What really seemed to break MDB was how much of a way Koga was. He was perfectly willing to take the time to Toxic stall, but Koga was between him and that strat.

@@Eggsceptional I'll need to insert it into Pokémon yellow frist and then see which Pokémon the Rival is going to pick to make it even harder.🤔 But I bet that could be really fun whenever I get to do that.
@bateltheassistant I'm not 100% sure how the translation to Gen 1 would go but that Squirtle team was nasty for Shuckle. STAB super effective Water moves hurt while we took 3+ shots to take them down!
@@Eggsceptional Sounds like the type of challenge I would do🤔.. I'll try to pair it with a strong water type then .
I honestly had a lot of fun playing Shuckle in the second playthrough with Defense Curl/Rollout. That first run though.. let's not talk about :) Those defensive stats cannot be discounted. I hope I did you fave Gen 2 Bug proud. Thank you!
I will never think of Muk the same again that's hilarious man. It got a lot of less than PG nicknames in that first run that's for sure :)
All hail the dark lord!
Well... That was rough. Glad you made it through this run with your sanity MOSTLY intact.
It's only partially intact anyway :)
Dome fossil best boy
The Dark Lord knows all.
I plan to incorporate it in the future but my current computer can't even handle the emulator I need to run properly nevermind GameHook.
this is gonna shuck
It sure did :)
Well shucks what a good playthrough lol
Thank you! Stop it you'll make me blush
That's not punishment, that's torture😂
Isn't that the truth! Brutal!
Man I missed the stream but I can tell this will be torture good thing I'm a sadist.
Hope you enjoy the pain once you get the chance to watch it.
Why do some pokemon on the tier list have a star behind them?
It's because they started fully evolved (not applicable in some cases) but also with the option of a single Egg move. It's the format I use in my VS runs as I find it adds some flavour the runs, and strategic diversity.
I feel that when you upload new videos, you know what I will say on the 5th only palkia.
I'll be patiently awaiting the 6th Palkia on the next video too :)
@@EggsceptionalI'm dumb palkia is not in pokemon fire red
@@jhanAVBut it is in Gen 4! Which I will hopefully be breaking into sooner than later.
I can't imagine how painful this was to do.
It hurt. It hurt so deeply. It was worth it for the second playthrough though :)
Cheating and still having a hard time lol.
For real thought, respect on doing this hardship ✌️
The second run didn't include any cheating! If that counts for anything. Thank you :)
Why would you do this to yourself? This is almost as bad as deciding to do a Magikarp run....
No...
Wait... don't do it! I was only being sarcastic!!!!!
Okay gotta love the name of the shuckle:
What's up, Shuckleheds?
So I was thinking about upcoming runs. Trade evolutions have been a popular request lately and my first thought was doing the Abra line. My second thought was that I've experienced enough pain lately.
I ran out of characterd what can I say?
Atleast you didn't say farfetch'd lol
why didnt you use leftovers with substitute
In the first run we were taking so much damage that our decoys were breaking in one turn - causing us to essentially lose 25% HP for nothing. I did try getting the Leftovers, and in the second playthrough I did use Sub/Leftovers along with Defense Curl/Rollout strats.
Why not use defense curl and rollout?
Looked at the title and thought about Mah-Dry-Bread's run of this. When you started complaining about how long everything takes, I thought about FlygonHG's 'Shucknanigans' he normally edits out of his Nuzlockes. It's almost comical how naive you were about this run.
@@135forte I had considered Toxic stalling but felt like it didn't solve enough problems. Especially bringing it into the Round 2 league, Toxic would have been a whole new kind of challenge. Particularly against Agatha as a whole, and Bruno's Steelixeses. Oh Shuckle :)
After this run, treat yourself with an easy run like alakazam next
I appreciate it. It didn't exactly work out that way but I have a really fun one planned for the following week :)
schadenfreude to the max!
After a quick Google search... you're sick ;)
Wait...how is the Special stat going to work here?
How do you mean? This is in FireRed in Gen 3, not just Red in Gen 1. The SpA/SpD split has happened :)
@@Eggsceptional Oops - sorry, thought this was in Red/Blue. Serves me right for not reading properly
@@TheAnalyticalEngine It happens to the best of us :)
Want pain do weedle only run 😂
It's on the list! As much as I don't want to admit it... Thanks :)
pls do ledian vs ariados!!!! :DDD
It's on the list :)
Hi :)
Hello! :)
Shucklehed is best girl
Shucklehead sure was a trial :P
King what’s going on? Physical punishment isn’t healthy. Do you need a therapist? It’s okay to ask for help. We’ve all been there
You know this is one of those perfect examples of good ideas gone wrong. Except Shuckle is never a good idea. I know that conclusively now.
@@Eggsceptional can’t wait for the Spinda versus delcatty run
@@jackruby6696 I'm insane, not masochistic :)
