      Its weird how far ranging that goes, I remember reading, Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins is a fan of the band, as are, The Flaming Lips. That's two bands that are pretty far apart!

    Post-punk. Their sound is much like alt rock in its infancy. One of the pioneers that influenced quite a few more popular bands later on.

    My word - you've played the Chameleons! The greatest "unheard of" band in the world. They still tour as well.
    Yes, even though i love Joy Division/New Order, the Chameleons are Manchester's finest musical export. A massive thanks to ypu both for playing them and ultimately spreading the word about them.

    I haven't heard these guys for years. I was first introduced to them when I first moved up to the city. The B Side of this was an odd cover of Bowie's "John I'm Only Dancing".

      Theres a hilarious live version from Campden Palace I think, it's ruined by a stage invasion by two wasted randoms that insist on singing. Really badly.

      @@Sandy-dd4le I haven't heard that either. ATV are pretty good too.
      I had a bootleg of theirs for a while recorded from the audience and it wasn't great. Apparently the bad audience singing was courtesy of Genisis P. I gave it away eventually as I was never going to listen to it.

    I love this band, and this track. They weren't as well known as some other bands back then, they still tour. They formed in '81, one of my favourite tracks by them is, 'Somewhere', it's not as well known as the majority of their stuff.

    • @hanierfamily

      @@hanierfamily No, that's a fairly well known track off their debut. I have no idea what 'Somewhere' is; it's not on any of the albums or EPs I've heard.

      @@hanierfamilyNo, as another person said, that's a track off of 'Script of the Bridge' and was also their 3rd single (if I remember rightly). 'Somewhere' is a rare track by them, which was only available on a cassette ep, and a bootleg album, someone had uploaded to RUclips a few years back, but after checking today it seems to have been removed so, please don't worry about it.

      @@dbp-wv1hsThanks, yes, I've explained to them about it. 'Somewhere' was a track which was on a cassette tape and a bootleg album only which I had in the early '80s, someone had uploaded it to RUclips some years ago but after checking today it seems to have been removed, which is a pity, probably because it wasn't an official release.

    @Sandy-dd4le 10 месяцев назад +4

    As i remember, you didnt like the production of the last Chameleons song you heard, i figured this would be more appealing.
    I like them a lot, their two guitar players had this weird, uncanny knack of playing interlocking parts, dropping in and out of each others riffs. Its not seperated by rhythm and lead. What Keith Richards calls, "the ancient art of guitar weaving".....and the singer is the bass player!
    Mad Jack is another track from the same album as this that you might like.
    From the earlier stuff, In Shreds.

    Other great songs to check out from them: "Here Today" (about the Death of John Lennon told from his point of view... absolutely chilling), "Nostalgia," "Tears" (either version is great), "Second Skin" (might be their best song) and "In Shreds"... Cheers!
