Lads don’t apologise. You did an honest reaction Park life was the wrong first song to react to and it’s satire and it was a shit live version tbf. Paul Weller on the drums is a huge character in British rock n roll, a pioneer and phenomenal lyricist. His band, The Jam, were one of the most influential bands in British music, one of Noel Gallagher's favourites as well.
Parklife is too far away from your culture, I think. We may speak the same language and be allies and all that but we are well different.... in a good way. Love your channel. Damon has a super band called The Good, The Bad and the Queen with Paul Simonon from The Clash!! And a guitarist from The Verve and a drummer from a less known band. They are great live.
If you're gonna do a live version, try Top of the pops. They nailed it, and the number of thirsty comments from women in the comments, about Damon biting his thumb is also worth a giggle.
Glad to see you gave them a second chance. They were a very eclectic group, you can’t judge them on any one song. Noel once said he wished he had written Beetlebum.
Definitely. There's a video on RUclips somewhere of Weller and Noel performing That's Entertainment which is a great place for these guys to dip their toes into
The 'Modfather' on drums. How cool is that! Park life was really popular more or less because it had Phil Daniels (An actor) as the lead vocalist. the vid for Park Life with Phil walking through a London park taking the piss is iconic. The rubbish live clip you saw shouldn't sway you from that. One of the most memorable performances from this period is actually Pulp, 'Common People' live from the Reading Festival. That was Brit Pop at it's magnificent best. Radiohead, 'Creep' also live at Reading, was in my opinion ,one of the most important songs of the 90's.
Check out Blur's There's No Other Way. It actually was very popular on alternative music stations here in the States. It was their breakthrough song, from what I remember. lol
“For tomorrow” at Glastonbury is a true representation of blur. "parklife" was a joke track basically they had a song and damon couldn't get the vocals right so he got an actor to do the voice over for it.
The rivalry was real. Liam threatening to beat Damon up, Damon pushing back Blur's song to coincide with the Oasis release, Liam aggressively confronting Graham in a nightclub bathroom, Noel and Liam shouting abuse across tables at the Brit Awards after Blur said their award should have been shared with Oasis etc. Noel bumped into Damon around 2010 or something and apologised to him and said he was just high out of his mind back then and now they are friends. Liam doesn't care about mending fences.

You should do some Libertines. Band that bridged the gap from the 90s britpop era of Oasis and Blur to the indie explosion of the likes of Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian in the early 2000s. Highly influential band.
I find Blur quite difficult to pin down. Lyrically and musically they do vary quite a lot, and you have to be understand that that satirical edge is a big part of what they do. I hope you react to some more from them as it'll be interesting to see how you feel about them after listening to a bigger range of their songs.
Understood your reaction to Parklife, really it needs to be heard in context of the full Parklife album, one of the themes of the album is the americanisation of UK culture, but it’s not only that. It’s a genius set of songs though, it is also as british as an album could sound
Also Song 2 was also a parody, he wrote the song as a parody of American Rock that got played on the radio all the time, then it got played on American radio all the time...
The Jam lads. Liked by punks to two tones types at the time. Down in the tube station at midnight, Eton rifles, strange town,.....could go on and on. Saw then live Sheffield Top Rank next week The Clash at the Lyceum. Dead Kennedys at Leadmill also excellent.

Parklife is SOOOO British in its lyrics, video and style. It would be difficult for you guys to appreciate it. I'm not surprised it wasn't your cup of tea (as they say in the UK - mug of Joe in the US for your coffee I suppose is the closest I suppose.)
As an Oasis fan from the very start I did appreciate Blur, and some of their songs, not all, but some. Oasis were more rock whereas Blur were more pop, and probably more diverse in the kind of songs. Oasis mainly had their heavy hitting electric guitar based sound, with some ballads. With Blur you got some out and out pop songs like Country House and Parklife (which I think probably doesn't travel well), along with less pop, but also I think your expectations were based on Song 2 and I don't really see that as a typical Blur song. Please do There's No Other Way, The Universal, Charmless Man, End of The Century, Girls & Boys, and even Country House (it's a bit poppy, but very catchy). Please do some other Britpop band line Pulp, Suede, and even more post Britpop band, so more Stereophonics and maybe bands like Feeder, Franz Ferdinand, the Manic Street Preachers. Also check out Embrace (more anthemic songs), Shed Seven, Snow Patrol. Those are the bands that I was also into, they have some amazing songs I think you'll really love and I'd bet you've never heard any of them!!! I'd say Blur are more like Radiohead then Oasis in they're more eclectic and can change styles more. I love Oasis, but I think they ran out of steam because they couldn't evolve their style like other bands did and after a while ago the songs started sounding samey, which wasn't the case in the first 2 or 3 albums. That and they lived the rock n roll lifestyle, toured a lot and it took a lot out of them and didn't give them enough time to come up with new amazing songs to match what had come before, it happens to many bands. Great video though guys!!! Love the fact that you give second chances. When I saw you were doing this one I wasn't quite sure it'd land. They do have better songs though imo.

I'd like to remember that the "feud" between the two groups was something created and, most important, pushed by the british media and the records label, so they could sell many more copies of magazines and LPs. They "pulluted" the air of those years only for economic reasons, for greediness, you need to get this...
The trouble with reviewing live versions of Blur songs, is that Damon Albarn isn’t a particularly strong or consistent singer live. They really are one of the few Britpop bands that you kind of have stick with the studio versions. I saw them live at Glastonbury in ‘92 (they played the NME stage mid afternoon on the Saturday, I think) and Damon trying to sing She’s So High was almost painful to hear. While I’m typing this, I’m actually watching your reaction to Parklife and it was a terrible choice to react to…especially live. I’m sure this has already been pointed out to you but the guy taking the lead on the vocals, Phil Daniels, is an actor…and a rather good one (if you’ve never seen it, you should watch the film Quadrophenia, where he plays the lead character Jimmy, the film was the brainchild of Pete Townsend and is based around the rock opera album of the same name). I saw Oasis live for the first time before they released their first single (about 5/6 months before) at The Plaza in Glasgow and they were the support act for another great Britpop band called St. Etienne and as good as they were, there was not a single person out in front of the stage, everyone was hanging around the sides and by the bar. The next time I saw them was less than a year later in Kilburn in London. Ocean Colour Scene were the support act, Paul Weller was stood just in front of us and the crowd was massive for this, the first of two nights. I suppose, the point I’m trying to make, is that none of the fans that I encountered back then liked one and not the other, they probably had a preference but would still be buying all the singles and albums from both bands (and most probably from Paul Weller, St. Etienne and Ocean Colour Scene too). If anything, I would probably say that Blur attracted a slightly older audience than Oasis, possibly because there would be less trouble expected at a Blur gig and that Blur had been around a few years longer) You should definitely check out the long and outstanding career of Paul Weller, encapsulating The Jam, The Style Council, The Paul Weller Movement and Paul Weller as a solo act, you will not be disappointed with either the live or studio versions. You might also like St. Etienne doing You’re In A Bad Way or their cover of Neil Young’s Only Love Can Break Your Heart. Sorry this was a bit long 😊
Parklife is not for everyone. Try Popscene, For Tomorrow, Beetlebum, or Trimm Trabb - all sound different. If you like how Graham sang, try Coffee & TV or You're So Great. He has side projects, which sound very different from Blur. He is also in Jaded Hearts Club w/ Matt Bellamy.
A couple of suggestions for future videos: imho the two best solo performances from Noel and Liam post-Oasis are Liam performing 'All Your Dreaming of' on Jonathan Ross in 2020 (I think) and Noel performing both 'Dying of the Light' and 'Dead in the Water' on RTE in 2017 Also you might want to check out the self titled album by 'The La's' from 1990 which Noel has gone on record to say Oasis finished what the La's started with that album. TBF the La's were simply standing on the shoulders of 60s bands like the Beatles and The Kinks etc and obviously Oasis were heavily influenced by those 60s bands too along with The Stone Roses, The Charlatans etc... Other suggestions for you would have to include the album 'Ladies and gentlemen we are floating in Space' by 'Spiritualized' released in 1997. The song 'Dakota' from the Stereophonics who I know you have recently just come across. Lastly, check out some of Ian Browns solo stuff...Highlights for me include 'Fear' and 'Keep What you Got' (which features Noel Gallagher on guitar).
Trust me guys pulp has made the list. Our list is a mile long cause there has been a ton of great music coming out across the pond that we had no idea about. I can’t wait to hear pulp along with the other great bands that have been suggested

If anything, I would probably say that Blur attracted a slightly older audience than Oasis, possibly because there would be less trouble expected at a Blur gig and that Blur had been around a few years longer)
You should definitely check out the long and outstanding career of Paul Weller, encapsulating The Jam, The Style Council, The Paul Weller Movement and Paul Weller as a solo act, you will not be disappointed with either the live or studio versions.
You might also like St. Etienne doing You’re In A Bad Way or their cover of Neil Young’s Only Love Can Break Your Heart.
Sorry this was a bit long 😊
Beetlebum, Tender.
lol, the best singer and song writer there is playing the drums
Parklife is not for everyone. Try Popscene, For Tomorrow, Beetlebum, or Trimm Trabb - all sound different.
If you like how Graham sang, try Coffee & TV or You're So Great. He has side projects, which sound very different from Blur. He is also in Jaded Hearts Club w/ Matt Bellamy.
No Distance Left to Run is another great song. It’s quiet a sad song & very personal for Damon.
A couple of suggestions for future videos: imho the two best solo performances from Noel and Liam post-Oasis are Liam performing 'All Your Dreaming of' on Jonathan Ross in 2020 (I think) and Noel performing both 'Dying of the Light' and 'Dead in the Water' on RTE in 2017
Also you might want to check out the self titled album by 'The La's' from 1990 which Noel has gone on record to say Oasis finished what the La's started with that album.
Great reaction!!! you should react to beetlebum, Liam’s favorite song from blur 🙌🏼
React to blur "the universal" live at hyde park, it was magical
Thank you for listening to my recommendation, lads.
You guys should react to Noel rating things as "underrated" and "overrated"
Its hillarious
I LOVE PARKLIFE!!!! Blur went through so many changes. But were always great. There earlier stuff had a lot of social commentary.
The whole rivalry thing was marketing genius. Damon Albarn is incredibly talented and very intelligent guy
There was more to Blur than what you see. With Oasis, what you see is what they were.
Just move onto Pulp already.
Yep that’s a must
@@redimp79 Start with "Sorted out for E's and Whizz"
Live at Reading - Common People! Get on it!
Trust me guys pulp has made the list. Our list is a mile long cause there has been a ton of great music coming out across the pond that we had no idea about. I can’t wait to hear pulp along with the other great bands that have been suggested
Paul Weller on drums! The mod father!
His cover of Oasis song 'One Way Road' is beautiful. Great voice.
