blur were making music when liam was still in school and noel was a roadie. give these guys the respect they deserve.
I like the music cos it's timeless
Blur vs Oasis is so 90's
Ye but when oasis were actually making music they were better than blur
@@oliwilks7769 Beatles rip-offs lol
Beetlebum is a great Blur song - They played this at Glasto 09 too. Awesome performance
This song, like the album it is from, is actually quite cynical, rather than optimistic. “The Universal” is a Prozac-like drug of a dystopian future where everyone is numb and complacent. The odd time signature comes from the fact that this was originally written as a reggae song before being completely overhauled during the recording sessions.
And beetle bum is about being addictied to herion
The Great Escape is a fantastic album.
Love the name
@@richardbremner1284 wrong album
@@TheSpacemannspiff Every Blur album is fantastic! Damon is one of the most talented song writers around.
I was in that crowd somewhere hahaha, was a brilliant festival and a really good performance by Blur.
Thanks for your reaction ❤❤
Tendor at the end of this set was something else. While crowd singing, Damon brought to tears.
Saw Blur at Hyde Park 2009. Fantastic gig, Tender brought me to tears!!
Best gig of my life. Tender just brought 100,000 people as one
Yay.blur are so versatile. Give to the end she is so high there's no other way a listen
Just Stumbled upon your channel, noticed you have done a few glastonbury videos and curious to an American view of Glastonbury
I was at this show and easily my favourite gig of all time
It's happening guys! Welcome to the blur rabbit hole. 🎉🏴
"Chemical World" is a great song from Blurs back catalogue. Worth a listen.
Great track from one of my favourite albums. For tomorrow is a big favourite of mine too
I was there for this and Tender was the song of the night
Some light relief from the Westminster shambles
Ain't that the truth....*sigh*
It's definitely in 4/4 but it has the swing of a waltz so you're tricked !
Incredible song in an amazing live setting, great choice.
Emphasis on the 2 *AND* and the 4, instead of the usual 2 and 4 of 4/4.
You can only get that at Glastonbury. It is not just a gig it is an amazing experience, because the bands that have the honour of playing, are playing to a crowd of 75,ooo people
Was there, didn’t like blur until this night, great gig, they nailed it. 👍🇬🇧
This is one of their masterpieces...plain and simple!
For tomorrow' from their second album ' modern life is rubbish is a great song
ive seen blur a few times but i have to say they dont transfer to film very well, they're brilliant live to be honest. Plenty of lets say lesser mainstream tracks are great - since you're on a linear journey with Blur I suggest "On Your Own", you will defo hear the origins of Gorrilaz in that....Blur - On Your Own
Damon Was classically trained, you can hear the influence in many of his songs he wrote.
Glastonbury the biggest and most important music festival in the World and the biggest compliment you can give Blur is they headlined it 3x, no one else has ever and it 2014 they played there for a fourth time.
People from all over the globe travel for this, this is where Blur conquer Oasis, they was only ever big in the UK. Blurs Album Parklife topped Japan's number 1 chart for over a year too.
Oasis make some cracking tunes but they are not versatile the same way Blur are.
It's really hard to label Blurs genre but they have been going from the late 80s and still releasing music currently. Under the westway is a banger, I believe that was the last single they released.
Beetlebum is another great track about Damons Ex Girlfriend Justine Frischmann, from the band Elastica, who was addicted to Heroin.
Please react to Blur vrs Oasis Britpop era. It's absolutely funny.
So glad u were wrong about their last single! Now we got a new blur single yayyyy 🎉🎉🎉
Under the Westway is a beautiful song, This is a low, Trouble in the message centre & Badhead r all great from the Parklife Album, & some excellent stuff on the Magic Whip album too,
You've played Blur and music from Jimmy Fallon's show, now combine the two and do a reaction to Blur with Jimmy singing Tender, it's so good, you'll love it.
LADS, can you get some ASH on, you're gonna love it trust me. Girl From Mars, Goldfinger, Oh Yeah, Kung Fu from the first album, in 1996 when they were 17, brilliant band, held their own in the era and still releasing quality. Should have smashed America,
Burn baby burn, shining light, sometimes, Candy….great band
I would definitely say Beetlebum. Also, For Tomorrow, This is a low, Trimm trab, Country Sad Ballad Man, or, Chemical world. And yeah, the studio Parklife too. They're all pretty different in styles, Blur was a rather versatile band.
Check out:
This is a low
To the end (plus the French version)
End of the century
For Tomorrow
Girls and boys
Parklife
MOR
She’s so high
There’s no other way
For Tomorrow
Music is my radar
Tender (also already written, Jimmy Fallon one is good)
These are all singles, there albums are full of gems as well.
I agree with "To the End" mate...such a classic song from them..
You alright guys. One of the first blur songs that was a 90s anthem in the UK was boys and girls. Classic
It is in 4/4 time. It’s just accented so it’s counted 1,2,3,1,2,3,1,2. The same amount of beats as a standard 1,&,2,&,3,&,4,&.
It's very much a syncopated drumming sequence, almost acting as a counterpoint to the main theme. It's very clever, but would be ne'er impossible to dance to well. Cole Porter was very good at introducing this rhythm into popular music.
i absolutely love the tone of graham's guitar during the "doo da doo da doo da" part
I was there! 🏴♥️🏴😀
The whole thing about this gig is what made it so great. Reunion of one of the main bands of a particular generation, Glastonbury, even little things like graham with the Cheryl shirt on…
I was there, it was amazing and a blast from the past for me. Great atmosphere and a good band
I'm a blur person through and through, the albums Parklife and the great escape are the classics but check out others. I play its my birthday every year on my birthday and have a cry, it's hauntingly sad and reminds me of my teenage years.
Guys you should listen to, 'To the End, especially the video they did with iconic French singer Francois Hardy. She ads her angelic voice to it.
React to Freakin Out by Graham Coxon, one of his solo songs outside of Blur. A proper rock number!!
Blur are my favourite band in the entire world. And I’ve got tickets to Wembley stadium next year. 🙌 The music is really diverse so I’ll guess you two might love it or hate it - some classics are There’s no other way, End of a Century, To the End, Beetlebum, Tender. Maybe a new album eventually 🤞
Have fun this evening! I’m going tomorrow
If there is one thing left that makes me proud to be British it is the sheer quality of music that has been churned out of this small Island half the size of California.
Highly recommend watching Park Life from this concert as well
Sometimes a song is just a really good one!!!
In the 90s I was a big Oasis fan and ignored Blur a little bit, but this was the one song I really really liked.
While going down the Blur rabbit hole check out Gorrilaz, Damon Albarn is a very clever artist
Parklife, song 2, both at Glastonbury 2009, same gig. 👌👌🇬🇧 crowd mosh.
For tomorrow from the same concert is also amazing!
I'm a drummer, I can promise you that the whole song is in 4/4. It's just the placement of the snare hits during the verse is slightly unconventional for a rock song
You need to check out their song tender live at Glastonbury 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Surely that is in 4.4
Time tablature is 4/4 in the intro and 8/4 in the main song. Some say is 3/4 but can't feel it. And no, I'm not musician.
I would say react to Beetlebum 1999 at Wembley, not the best quality but one of the best live performances from blur.
Well done fellas🫶🏽🫶🏽bit of an epic song in my humble opinion 👍🏽🙌🏽
Would be awesome for you two to go to Glastonbury and do reaction videos during your time there... tickets are rare as hens teeth, so you'll be lucky to get some.. but it's one of if not the best festival in the world (obviously was better in the old days etc etc...lol.. but it's enormous and an incredible experience)
To the end!
New album coming out first one in 8years
I could see you guys living it large at Glasto u would love it
Blur are an English secret!!
England do indie music so well. You do not have to analyse the words!!!
Ah also Glastonbury, we do music so well
It's in four beats to the bar.
i live in chesterfield my friends neighbour lived next door to someone who was in pulp in the mid 90s we used to sometimes see the band going to his house....crazy i guess... i dont know if you have checked them out most of the band was from sheffield. i'd be interested in what you thought of them....common people, disco 2000 are the biggest ones they did really but i really liked something changed.
I only like a few blur songs this beetlebum, charming man, tender and stereo types.
i was there but i didnt stop to watch
The timing is a waltz. 123,123,123,123. It's a three/four time.
I think you'd appreciate The Streets. It's not rock, it's more hip-hop and garage but they're lyrically incredible.
I saw this live, it seems so so long ago now
The meter is a simple 4/4. The beat is syncopated a little, maybe that threw you off
blur do melon colony really well
for me its beetle bum that will make you respect them more as a band
Under The West Way is a good ‘un by Blur.
Just new you would mention the crowd lol
The song is in 4/4
Next stop with Blur is This Is A Low, another beautifully atmospheric piece from them.
Also, you have DEFINITELY more than exhausted the horrendous shit show that is Oasis. They literally only have ONE credible album in their entire career and it was their debut. Everything else was truly effing awful.
The charlatans how high, one to another the the seahorses - you can talk to me - love me and leave me co written squire an l.gallagher the streets - dry your eyes dirty version
They we're at the height..............that is how you spell it lo..........................the war(Indie), Oasis!
P.s your not even halfway done with Rob.k reacts has been doing oasis reactions for about 5 years he's still not finished he's on the obscure b.sides and covers which oasis have maybe 50 of they've covered the stones, verve, smiths, beatles, jam, slade, bert bacharach, the who. P.s the charlatans- how high or one to another Brixton academy or even the proper version.
You should've reacted to the studio version the first time, and then upgraded to this
its 3/4 timing
Not bad
Ha, for the music video they were dressed up like the idiots from A Clockwork Orange.
You should react to the major teams fins in Brazil ans Argentina. Much better than Europe.
Should have reacted to the video.
I miss optimism.
Under the Westway is Blur's greatest song
They're not really a stadium band but did a fair job. Muse, Radiohead, Coldplay - stadiums.
Coldplay suck so bad. Depressing to think that there’s stadia full of people listening to that tedium.
This song is the opposite of optimist, my dear.
you should watch a british comedy show called some mothers do have em that came in the 1970s it is very funny you will love it
3/4
Agree its 3 4 time.
It’s 4/4
it is 4/4, just count along with it, it’s 4/4. Count along with it as a 3/4, you cannot make it fit. 4/4 fits perfectly.
@@carolinestirland3126 listen to the song and count along with it, 3/4 won’t fit.
@@upthesock1 chorus is 4/4.
How have I only just realised that you reacted to this???!
So glad you enjoyed this one, I had a feeling it’d be your thing.
I think you might like End of a Century, Clover Over Dover, or Trouble at the Message Centre.
