    this one came to me sounding awful, probably one of the worst I've heard in a long time. customer said he couldn't hear it, only one was leaking so I re tightened the other 3 while I was there and that will save them from leaking in the near future

    Many thanks for the tip about the spinning captive thread inserts which hold down the injector wiring plastic rail, 2 of mine were spinning and not coming undone too, great info to lift upwards using a flat screwdriver! nipping up the clamp down 7mm hex nuts on injectors which are not yet a problem is well worth doing too, some of mine were a bit loose. All the best mate!

    Does this need reprimed or owt like that after having the injector fuel line/s off? I ask because removing all four injectors, replacing the washers and giving them a deep clean is on the agenda for me on a 2014 C Max with this engine. Its proved a right pain in the arse doing things with the fuel system.

      My engine has a cover on it which deadened the noise it was the smell of exhaust which made me remove it and find the problem

    Good video i have the same engine in my mazda 3 same injector chuffing.I read somewhere thay the original injector seals were slightly to small and the newer ones are modified.

      Hi Ryan thank you mate 👍. Yes I’ve seen thinner injector seals and they are not as good. I use euro car parts and they supply the original thicker ones I’m sure there’s a euros not far from wherever you are. My mrs has the Mazda 3 with same engine aswel and 2 of her injectors where leaking when I bought it. Thanks again 👍

      Thank you mate 👍👍, to get the heavier stuff I chip away with a flat head screwdriver then there’s a spray you can get called injector crack but it’s not cheap, I’ve found paint thinners in a cloth removes a lot to. Thanks again

    Hi Brilliant Video I have a focus 1.6tdci and it seems I have a leaky injector so I'm going to replace it seems to be 1 and 2 but before I replace them i might try and nip up the 7mm Hex bolts 1st to see if it stops the leak But which is the 7mm hex bolt is it the fuel line 1

      Hey Dan sorry for the delay, did you try to nip these up? I have had success tightening them but only a little bit you’ll probably get a 90degree turn on them if they have never been nipped up.

      @@YTDTETV also, I had the chuffing for about a year and it got quite bad, so I was looking at doing this job. I just tried tightening them all up and the chuffing has gone now. Would you still redo the seals or leave as is unless/until the chuffing comes back?
      I was all geared up to do it but now it's gone I'm thinking it might be better to leave it alone.

    Hi, yes very good instructions video, I have question would you change all seals on four injector or just the one leaking, I have one leaking and it's 78000mils on the clock so I'm thinking what to do, thanks

      Hi Libor welcome to the channel glad you found it useful. I would only change the one that is leaking 👍. While your there just NIP up the other injector bolts you will be surprised how loose they become overtime as the injector washer crushes. Don’t go to tight thow just use a 3/8 ratchet and nip them up slightly. If they havnt been tightened before then you will probably get a full 90degree on them.

    How do you stop the crap dropping into the fuel system once your cleaned out the seal area
    Vac ?

      Hi bud so any carbon that falls in isn’t a problem because it isn’t rock hard like a stone or metal it will literally just get squashed and burn off through the exhaust, if his hasn’t started blowing then re tighten his injector bolts asap as they won’t blow then. Just use a 7mm hex bit on either a small or medium ratchet. You should get maybe a 90degree turn with ease, don’t go made but you’ll feel it needs tightening when you start. Each injector has 2 bolts you will get a decent turn on one then a nip up on the other. Do all 4 injectors and they won’t ever blow 👍 glad you found the channel.

      All went really well followed instructions. Only think i struggled with was the black rubber seal. After ruining 3 i Used a 14mm socket pushed through the seal to get the lip of it behind the hole

      Hey bud thank you appreciate that 👍 so it’s the 1.6tdci bassicly, you say it’s braking injector clamps? Blimey I’ve never seen that. Has it still got a DPF I won’t if that’s blocking up causing back pressure.

      Hi bud welcome to the channel 👍, if you can get a cloth and clean most of the moisture off and see exactly where it’s leaking from and let me know. It’s either leaking from the very top of the injector and on your 1.8 it should be the union bolt with the feed pipe. If it’s leaking from there they are almost impossible to reuse so if that bolt/pipe has been undone then the whole pipe needs to be replaced. If you ring fords and give them your reg and tell them what pipe it is they will be able to supply you one and believe me they are a lot cheaper than you think maybe around £20. If it’s leaking further down from the thin black pipe then that’s the return and needs a new little o ring. Hopefully that helps if not give me a shout 👍

    Did leak off test` your were bang on thanks for advice ,
    The far right injector on the ford focus sport 1.6 2011 TDCI 5 door hatch was way above the other 3 injectors ,
    Did test 3 times and every time it filled bottle befor other reached just 20 mililitre.I think number 1 injector is furthest from the drivers side in this engine,4321
    As I need an injector now could you advice me what brands i can choose from and what year can I go above and below my vehicle 2011, if bought second hand injector .
    And do I need to look at any numbers on top of injector that has to match my old injector.

      Hi bud glad my advice was of some use and yes definitely sounds like one is jumping back fuel. Yes your injector should have a code similar or the same as 0445110259 right near the leak off pipe connector. If your number is the same then I have a refurbed one that has only done 10 miles since replaced them the car was crashed so I took all the injectors as spare. I can sell you this one if needed 50. If you use wd40 or something similar to clean the top of the injector if you can’t see the number. Also the new one will need coding to the car but any decent OBD scanner will be able to do this. Let me know if you need this injector and I’ll send you my email address. Thanks again

      I have OBD II But i dont think they will program injector in car ,
      if they could i would not know what to go into on the device to program the code in lol,

    Apart from the noise how would a not so clued up driver realise something was wrong? Will it throw a code or will it drive differently? I’m looking at picking up an early Mk2 Focus Estate with the same engine without the DPF.

      Hi bud welcome to the channel, so the noise is normally loud enough so most people can hear something is wrong, injector seals don’t normally throw a light up unfortunately. The non dpf model is the better one to have 👍

    Out of interest, how much would you charge for that? My local garage wanted £600 per injector assuming they didn't need replacing!

      Hi John, how much?? I charge £50 per injector and that includes me supplying the copper washer seal. Some come out in 45 mins and some come out in 5 mins so sometimes it pays well other times it pays really well. Thanks 👍

      @@YTDTETV great video mate,, i watched a few of your different ones for water pumps and stuff,, I just got me mits on a citreon berlingo and its got number one injector chuffing ,, theres loads of crap around the top, well caked up,, its not as east to get to as this one looks,,,, , i wonder what you would charge to fit a cam belt and water pump and do the injector seal on it mate,, its 2011 , I got the cam belt kit,, cheers

    Nice work mate,
    mine was chuffing could not do it due to weather then i got a big triangle sign pop up with engine management ,I drove a nother 2 minutes to get home,
    Turned engine off and on again no sign did not come back on while stationary,plugged cheap scan tool showed no code,
    did notice a bit of slight smoke inline with injector 3 at the time of chuffing but at the back from the black cover seal,but not enougth to see wear it was actually coming out from,
    changed washer placed injector back after all the cleaning ect,
    Would this problem with chuffing eventually bring the big triangle warning sign up or would there of been another issue,and now because i had the warning sign has that now left a code in the computer ofv thev car that has to be cleared,

      Hi bud thank you for the comment, so this car in the video flashed up engine malfunction while being driven and also showed no codes, since replacing the copper washer it has only happened once. On another I fixed a while back it turned out to needing one of the injectors replaced, I done a leak off check on the injectors and one leaked back more than the others so replaced that one and it cured the problem. Hope this helps

      @@YTDTETV Owe, i thought as it was chuffing bad it may of been the compression issue on that piston as i did see fuel above injector and gunk.
      The recovery bloke pulled each connector off the injectors and said they are all functioning, I was a bit suprised he did that because i heard you should not disconect the injector from its rail while the car is running with cars today,
      I know injectors can be intermitton,
      I am placing all injectors back to day after i cleaned them up and replace oil seal and copper washers,
      then ill have to drive it and see if it is bad injector or it was due to the bad copper washer,
      Cheers for advice ill keep it in mind that I may have bad injector,

      @@piecetoyou8285 I fix cars everyday modern and old stuff and to locate really faulty injectors I to unplug them while it’s running, it’s the same principle as pulling a HT lead off an older car to locate which cylinder has a misfire. The focus I mentioned before would go into limp mode and engine malfunction when under load ie going for an overtake on dual carriage way etc. what’s happening there is a faulty injector is leaking back up the return lines to much causing low fuel pressure in the pump. You can buy diesel leak off kits cheap on eBay and it’s an easy job to check them. Just connect them to the thin return lines on the injectors and run the car for 1-2minutes and you’ll see in the measuring pots if one is leaking back to much. Hope that helps 👍

      I have one of those leak of kits , now ive put it all back this morning I am ready to check that all ready to start,
      it started straight away after 3 winds ,sounds good,no more chuffing sound and no leak
      Will give it a leak off test wednesday when weather better,,

    I have same engine, there is a sharp smell on cold starts (even on summer). I initially tough its a burnt cluch but smells like oil. could it be the injector seals failed?

      Hello bud 👍, can you see any visible leaks of oil under the bonnet. If you start it up and listen to the engine you would hear a chuffing noise from an injector seal just like in the video.

      Hi bud, no replacement washers are really cheap. I only replace the top rubbers if they are leaking oil as they can be a pain sometime 👍

      @@YTDTETV seems thst in mine Peugeot 207 leaks oil at least first injector(that one close to pipe of air) when i saw black fluid/oil near it .,i saw that new injector s are expensive but rubber seals not which are probably problem

      @@YTDTETV it was very much appreciated, I was due for mot in an hour with 2 stuck injectors, I warmed it up to 90deg and both popped out straight away and all the rest of the securing nuts were loose too 👍

      @@geraldlavery3962 brilliant 👍👍 I’ve always found injectors come out easier when the injectors are warm, it’s surprising when you check the other injector bolts how loose they have become after the washing crushing down overtime. I think some manufacturers actually have an injector re torque service interval as if you tightened them every few years they would last a lot longer. Glad the video helped 👍👍

    Hey, loved your video, followed every stepped and i got rid of "chuffin", could swear that engine is not as loud as before too, but I have new issue, on injector 3 and 4 i have slight diesel leak, have I screwed up something ? :D

      Hi bud glad the video helped you and well done 👍. I don’t think youve screwed up it’s leaking from 1 of 2 places, it’s either from the little leak off return pipe on the top or it’s the 14mm solid feed pipe needs nipping up a little more. Check the 14mm union bolt with the solid pipe on first as that’s the easiest. If they are tight then pop the little return pipe and clip off the top again and check the little green o ring for splits. Let me know and I’ll hopefully help you sort it.

      @@Genakrul_93 so the little pipes on the top are return pipes, whatever the injector doesn’t use it send back to the tank. Do the look like they are clipped all the way down like 1 and 2? You might need to get some more little o rings and replace them, if your worried about splitting them rub a little bit of grease over them before popping them in as it helps them slip in easier. I’ll find some on eBay and put the item number on here.

      @@YTDTETV They do look like they are clipped all the way in, tho I had leak only on 3 so I've decided to change all 4 o-rings. Original were green, i got some black now, since then aside of 3 there is leak on 4 now aswell. Can air get trapped there and cause it to perform that way?

    I just completed this job and everything went smoothly, however the engine now won’t start. It turned over for a second and then cut out, now it just cranks with no joy. Any ideas?

      Hi bud sounds like you have to much brake cleaner or something inside the cylinder, if you keep cranking the key it will push it out and start. Might need to put a set of jump leads on to give it that extra boost.

      @@YTDTETVnice one thanks for the reply will give that a go. I also read there could be air in the system? Is it easy to bleed the fuel system on one of these? Mines a Volvo same engine etc.

      Hey bud does your engine sound like it’s making a chuffing noise while running? Diesel mixing with the oil I’d be looking at getting the injectors tested with a leak off test as if one is overfilling that might cause that to happen.

      @@YTDTETV I’m unsure to be honest. What’s a leak off test? I keep getting different answers saying my dpf is blocked etc cause of short journeys but I’m sure it’s more than that!

      @@Crisk1467 if you look on the left hand side of the battery box you will see a black sensor with 2 black rubber hoses that have a woven type material cover on them, they are a common problem to split. Very carefully inspect both of those hoses they run down to the dpf. If you run you hands along the hoses and see black soot then one or both of them has split. If they have just replace them with 8mm fuel hose or put a joiner piece into repair them, that would cause dpf issues and fill the oil with diesel.

      Hi bud welcome to the channel, have you got underboost or no boost? Any fault codes? Has you car got a DPF? If so look on the side of your battery box you will see a black sensor with 2 rubber pipes coming out of it, they run down the front to the DPF. Carefully check them for splits you might have to cut the outer black mesh covering off, if you can see black soot anywhere on the pipes it’s a giveaway that they have split, if so replace the pipes with 8mm fuel hose. If not get back to me and I’ll try and help. Thank you

      @@YTDTETV hi the code that comes up is p0299 I had the egr value changed already.
      It’s got a DPF but can’t see any splits or soot this is loads of carbon around injector 1 and 3

      @@Itemsbybizzare definitely worth changing the 2 injector seals and go from there, I had a focus not boosting because 2 of the glow plugs where down.

      Hey bud, they do sometimes get abit stuck. Plenty of lubricant lots of wiggling left to right while pulling on it and I’m sure it will go. I’ve spent a couple of hours on one injector in the past. Let me know how you get on.
