Not being a massive sherried whisky fan, I always enjoyed a bit of Glendronach 15. I never had the Tamdhu before but it does sounds delicious and solid enough to go toe to toe with the dronach. I need to try it. Nice one brother, cheers 🥃
Great video Wade! Thanks for doing the heavy lifting on this one. Both great drams. I'm with you on the Glendronach, even though when they dropped to the non-chill filtered statement it stung a little. It's summer where I am, so sherry isn't typically what I'm going after lately...but you convinced me that I need to pour a nice one tonight. Cheers! BTW I signed up for the newsletter. Looking forward to it!
Thanks for signing up brother, hope you enjoy it! 🥃🥃
@@McIntyresMalts Nice review and Channel 👍🏼
@@caskstrength7629 Thank you my friend, appreciate you being here!
Enjoy your reviews Wade cheers. The Tamdu 15 I have is NCF it’s on the box.
Thanks for letting me know Leanne, I suspected as much. Have just gone and checked my box and indeed in the spiel about the whisky I can see it is there! Thank you 🙏
I haven’t had the Tamdhu 15 but I’ve had the Glendronach 15 and your notes were spot on.
Thanks Frank, I report it as I taste it! Hopefully you get to try the Tamdhu 15 my friend 🥃
Great comparison video Wade! Have to admit i was rooting for the Tamdhu 15 as i do think its got a slight edge over the GlenDronach 15 these days, but i do prefer the earthier style of sherry over the sweet so that makes sense. The Tamdhu 15 is also about $30 cheaper here so that is extra nice. Great video once again man. Cheers 🥃
Thanks Matt, value definitely comes into play and if you can get Tamdhu $30 cheaper that might just be enough to swing my vote too!
I love both of these whiskies. I think the Tamdhu is very elegant and the Glendronach is a sherry bomb. Both great and too close to call, cheers Wade!
I love how you describe them both Billy!
I bought a bottle of Tamdhu 15 on your recommendation. Yet to try it.
I hope you enjoy it when you do open it!
Nice review Wade. Thank you for these. Can you please do a review of the kilchoman sanaig? I know is a NAS, but it seems like people are really loving it and I’d like to know what you think of it before I purchase a bottle 🥃 cheers
On my list of reviews to do and in my cabinet! What I will say is if you like peated whisky with sweet sherry combo then the Sanaig is for you. I like it a lot 🥃
Good to know, thanks! I’ll be waiting in anticipation for your review on that- looking forward to seeing you try it. I just watched your video on Speyburn 15 and I’ll definitely be picking up a bottle of that for my birthday next week! These are highly informative- keep em coming
@@kaylashae3915 Happy birthday! Enjoy the Speyburn 😊
I would love to hear your opinion on a Glendronach 18 vs Tamdhu 18
Have an unopened bottle of each, this is one I am very eager to do!
This is a really well-matched fight. I expect I'd agree with your choice in a blind tasting, and that's before factoring in that the whisky you chose as the winner costs more than $40USD less than the other bottle here in the US ...
Wow 😮
Talk about a price difference!
Glendronach 15 👌 even if it’s chil filtered.
That's some tough competition. I've yet to do this comparison specifically, but Tamdhu has won others I didn't expect it would because it's just so unbelievably balanced. I like the Revival better than the whiskies I already compared the Tamdhu to though, so I would lean towards it probably.
Was a fun comparison to do, both are great in their own right.
Tandhu 15 all the way!! If I am in the mood for a lovely Oloroso 15 yo scotch this is one I often go to!! Terrific video! I clicked on right away!! Thanks Wade!! 🙂Tonight I am sipping on a Lagavulin of course! Lol! Lagavulin Offerman 11 4th Edition! I can find the Tamdhu 15 where I am but I have a lot of difficulty finding the Glendronach 15. I have enjoyed them both but I admit I am a bit burned out - just briefly!! - with Oloroso casks. I am mostly looking for Bourbon casked peated scotch these days preferably with a lot of complexity!! I am also really into very old scotch right now after acquiring several beautiful scotch expressions! I need less sweetness right now on my palette!! Hope you are super well!!
Yes I hear you Christine, I find myself going through phases of what I am liking and leaning towards, currently preferring PX cask over Oloroso.
Where I am is the opposite of your experience, GD 15 is far easier to find than the Tamdhu 15.
I am indeed very well 😊
@@McIntyresMalts I always love your work and replies Wade! A gift! Thanks so much and I am very happy that you are doing so well! Much care! 🙂
Thank you, Wade!
I agree with every single word said, even though i come to another conclusion. To me its a draw while leaning to the Tamdhu personally. Of course we all agree on that is just a matter of personal preference and the phases we are going through.
While i was watching your take on these sherried giants i felt the appeitite to have one as well. Both are on stock, but i couldn´t decide which one i should have. They are both so elegant, rich and so mighty, i wanted the sherried goodness, but that late already in bed, are they mabe both a bit too much? - then you called the Glendronach "simple" but in a good way and i knew what i want. It´s a speyburn 15 i´m sending a toast with. Slainte!
Right now i do love my PX casks as well, but only when they contained peated whisky. Talking of peated whisky and px cask: my personal surprise of the month and my recommendation for you is the Murray McDavid Mistery Malt "Mull´s finest" (going through the inevitable independent bottlers phase).
Of course Mull means Tobermory and as it´s peated we are talking about a Ledaig. 50%abv, 9 years old and a mixture of PX and Port casks - it is absolutely delicious, the sweetness compliments the peat and the sophisticated destillate so well.
Speyburn 15 is lovely, cheers my friend! 🥃
Sounds incredible 🤤
I am a massive Ledaig fan and those casks are my fav too so a combo that definitely appeals to me!
Yep I was trying to buy Tamdu 15 other day $140 couldn't order it next day $180 too much of a jump 😌
Both great companies
Sweet vid Wade! 👍🥃
Saw that at Dans, $140 is great, $180 is not....
@@McIntyresMalts yep Dan's 😕
Tamdhu 15 says on the side of the box that it’s Unchillfiltered
Thank you Brukuns, your are correct!
