They may have 3 spiderman actors, but we have only 1 Green Goblin.
what about TASM 2 lolz
Dr Doom that was more of a crackhead goblin XD
214Gaming I’d go with Norman Osborn but you’re right he is the green goblin
Well, he was the best Norman Osborn. TAS Norman was a bed ridden narcissist, and the other 2 Green Goblins were both Harry.
I think that James Franco was a better physical actor in the role, but that's just my opinion.
Compared to Tobey's Peter and Keirsten's MJ, he was brilliant, though you could say the same about Alfred Molina and Thomas Hayden Church.
NO HARRY IN THE SECOND SPIDER MAN TOOK OVER REMEMBER!!! REEEEEEEEEE!!! Sorry I am pretty sure I'm on drugs
When acting: tough guy. When being himself: a sweet human meerkat.
I agree.
Meerkats are the most murderous mammal in the animal kingdom. He seems sweeter than that.
@@SubVet84 I’m imagining a meerkat maul a lion
Willem Dafriend
@@Zanoladab yes
Look how he's glowing. Willem Dafoe. He's just so grateful. Must be a great actor to hide all of that with the characters he's played over the years. Lovely guy.
He does seem like a generally cool guy.
Beautiful comment, totally agree!
He's so different. It's kinda sad that he's usually type-casted for bad, crazy guys cause to me he's beautiful inside and out.
And in STARK contrast, ALL of the other actors (like, 99%?) talking about themselves all day long...
I recently watched (probably why this just hit my recommended) another channel doing an interview. Search for "Willem Dafoe explains his iconic roles", something like that. but it is longer and just lets him open up about his experiences as an actor. Incredible talent, and still humble.
I'm something of a "good guy" my self lol
For a guy who is an absolute natural at playing villains, he has such an infectious smile
That smile is so attractive ! He's got charisma so thick you can feel it
True, looks like an old Gullum
It's so funny how his real life persona is so different from any of his characters. He's so animated and sweet.
He always play crazy nut guy with wild eyes.. lol
I thought the same, never see him on talk show circuit.. thinking he's must be a sourpuss in RL.. comes across soft spoken & sweet.
that's because he is truly an actor not like the young shitty actors today who are the same in movies as in real life
Adi Adrian Though honestly that’s not too much of a bad thing of they’re really good at that. If anything it makes them specialized rather than having a broad bandwidth, but whether or not that’s still acting is debatable
Holy shit. That would be awesome seeing him as Joker. He would be one of the greatest up there with Mark Hamill!
mizzypoo he's just a good kind of crazy nut.
"You know, I'm something of an Oscar nominee myself"
You know how much ive sacrifised
Jokes aside i think we can all agree he deserves to win an oscar by now.
He's so different from any of the dozens of roles I've seen him in. I guess that's a testament to what a great actor Willem is. He literally transforms.
Fucking Stephen is supposed to be a nerd, and he didn't once reference him as playing the Green Goblin.
5:24
"Like a spider monkey... or... a spider-man ehhh? *wink*".
FUCKING COLBERT!
This is what I was about to type. This guy is so different from Norman Osborne..
Well-said!
@@nahor88 😆
Stephen: “its a lie because it turns out that your actual name is William Dafoe”
Willem: “YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I SACRIFICED!?”
Lol
you can't do this to me...
"Stephen...
Don't tell Harry"
William is on sabbatical honey 😉🙃
Tobey: I missed the part where that's my problem.
Willem seems like the sweetest guy ever
Dude, I agree, he is so soft spoken and seems like a really good-natured and humble guy, who is not craving for attention. And as a bonus he is a very talented actor.
WTF HE'S SUCH A NICE MELLOW MAN.
Respects to him, seeing him very young, his acting always hooked me into any movie he starred in.
the best joker that never happened.
depending on which reimagination of Joker you wanted.
Please stop relating to Joker as if it’s some kind of coveted and most desired role an actor can get. It’s overrated and not really interesting after first five minutes. It’s considered this way only by ignorant fanboys that never watched a move that is not in English or a movie without explosions. Joker is a silly role, over simplified and shallow representation of imaginary villain that can never exist in reality. Only teenagers and infantile adults will think that Joker is complex character.
@ D G
Noone here said nor even implied that it was a coveted or highly desirable role, nor that he is a complex character, but rather that Willem Dafoe would make a good one.
*DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I SACRIFICED*
He was a great Norman Osborn though
Willem Dafoe is sooo different in real life. Usually in a movie he's always this reserved, or angry, or a charismatic and loving father figure. But in real life he's actually a shy and goofy guy.
Bruh I just want to grab a cup of coffee and sit and talk with Willem. He seems like he has great stories to tell and a good personal philosophy
I thought he was Dutch for so long, that first name
Yeah, it's a very common Dutch name.
He is of Dutch,German,Irish,Scottish,English and French descent like myself.
1993MovieMan ya, like 50% of white Americans 🙄
Understandably. I am Dutch and my son's name is Willem.
@@1993MovieMan Nowhere else in the world do anyone keep track of that shit. It's fucking ridiculous.
Lol when he got kicked out of school he should've been like *OUT............AM I*

I can't stop cry laughing at this image in my head now😂😂

I love how naturally they related and talked to one another!!
This guy is American treasure.
Tommy?
More like Willem Dafriend, amirite?
yoghurt_monitoring you, my dear, are a gem.
I see this comment beneath ever 2nd interview
Technically, _Canadian_ treasure, but yeah.
“ I just stopped going to school!” Lol
He is quirky.... My head would pop off if He and Jeff Goldblum got together to chat!
He got to murder Jeff Goldblum in Grand Budapest Hotel. Another great movie - Dafoe's leather jacket deserved a spot in the credits too.
Omg yes the daddy-ness
Haha haha this comment made me laugh more than it should have.
He's so soft spoken
Willem's performances in The English Patient, Spider-Man, The Life Aquatic, and Once Upon A Time In Mexico are outstanding. This guy is something else.
@Masked Movie Man I've seen Platoon. I liked him in that, too, though my attention was more drawn to Charlie Sheen's character and his conflict with Tom Berenger's character. The other two I haven't seen.
Nobody gives him enough credit for All Saints day. I thought he was great.
Streets of Fire!
@@scottisitt Streets of Fire. Watch it.
I thought he was the best thing about The English Patient. Second best was Juliette Binoche. The other two characters left me cold.
"You've spun your last web, Spiderman"
Do you know how much I sacrificed?!
*BACK TO FORMULA*
Don't tell Harry.
One of the best Super Hero movies and one of Willem Dafoe`s best performances, I have always thought.
You could see that Dafoe was enjoying himself in the role of the Green Goblin/ Norman Osborn in the 2002 Spider-Man movie.
why is raimis spiderman so quotable
Pleasantly surprised. He is nothing like what I expected based on the characters he has played. Very sweet.
Such a real, genuine guy. I find Mr. Dafoe to be so charming!
Slutty McTits I don’t know how to take that, coming from you.(I am making a joke referring to your user id)
When they took his project away he probably yelled... "DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I SACRIFICED!!"
Then he says to Stephen:
“I offered you friendship… and you spat in my face!”
His smile is contagious lol.
Joker-y smile
Especially when he uses the joker toxins
@@AshrafAnam kinda methy actually
@@JamesOfKS still better than the actors who played the character after 1989.
He looks like a crazy homeless guy that found a suit, and now he's just living the life of a movie star and no one is questioning it.
If he ever did get evicted I'd be disappointed if he didn't immediately say: "OUT, AM I???????".
Now that he has Ryuk's Deathnote, maybe. Nobody ever dares.
That is hilarious.
😂😂😂😂😂
RandomElement: Hahaha! Excellent description! XD
I didn't know Willem is this pleasant and funny. He's so convincing in the movies. Ha!
Whether he’s in big blockbuster movies or low-budget films, this dude is one of the greatest actors still going on as of today!
He will always be the Crazy Green Goblin for me

Willem is an underrated treasure imo. It would be so rAd to chill with him, he's hilarious & super smart.
BEST GREEN GOBLIN. and SHOULD HAVE BEEN CAST AS JOKER. THERE IS STILL HOPE
And I don't fault either of you for pointing out the things you did. This world is perfect after all.
Honestly how hes never been cast as the joker is a mystery to me!
Discovered Willem first in Boondock Saints which I used to love.
There can always be reboots, because Hollywood always wants money 😉
I'd just said the same to my son (about how he'd make a great Joker) seconds before watching this video. My son enthusiastically agreed. "What generation gap?" say I!
If they ever did a shining remake he would kill it as jack. Worthy successor to jack Nicholson
I love when Stephen has conversations about his younger days / family life.
right?! and he genuinely tells the story, too, he doesn't fake it for the audience. it's like watching two friends have a drink in a bar lol.
CLHLC I do too! Especially when he gets a little giggly!
it's so nice to see him in an interview, he's so funny and sweet. Just more proof of what an amazing actor he is.
The music at the end is way too loud. Please adjust the volume.
Glad to see I'm not the only one thinking that.
or just turn down your volume?

Willem is the Dutch spelling of William.
My Great-uncle was called Willem and his nickname was Wim.
More or less. WIllem/Wim is often used to make a difference between generations carrying the same name (with people often named after uncle/aunts that act like godparents, the name multiplies in families). At least in the Catholic South.
Willem is the legit translation of William. All the kings named William are called Willem in Dutch.
@@NotAfraidToQuestionThings Didn't a dutch Koning Willem became the king of the UK as well? Hence all the british kings called William?
@@simon6495 Yes. Willem III ruled as stadtholder of the Netherlands and became king of the United Kingdom. Which is pretty interesting since it made him the first Dutch king, but not of the Netherlands.
@@willemverheij3412 wow, I did not know that, that he became king of the UK (while I should). We now have King Willem-Alexander, or WimLex.
It's nice to hear them talk about their family and their influence on them.
And yeh, Willem is the Dutch form of William - like you have Wilhelm in German or Guillaume in French (and I believe Guillermo in Spanish).
His home town Appleton, WI. and the region around it has a large Dutch American population so I assumed Willem was his actual name.
And Da Foe is a Dutch spelling of the French De Vaux.
Robert Cuminale More like a post-Norman English variant of the French Deveaux (and other spellings), not Dutch. The name Dafoe/Defoe has been around for hundreds of years in England.
@@robertcuminale1212 Actually, the anglicized version of the Swiss Thévou
I'm a Spanish speaker and I will never understand how Guillermo is the translation of William ??????? It has nothing to do jajaajjajaja
What an incredibly nice and intelligent man he is....one of my all time favourite actors.
I always thought of him as a baddie but he was wonderful in The Florida Project and seems like a total sweetheart here.
Him and John Lithgow can totally play both ends of the good/bad spectrum 100% convincingly.
It’s cause he LOOKS scary as hell. Lol
Sweet guy. Amazing actor. When he's on the screen you can't take your eyes off him, and you can't say that about many actors.
He seems like a truly interesting character! Someone you could have a long conversation about anything and it'd be interesting.
He’s my Great Uncle I met him once in my Gand pops funeral and I asked him are you green goblin he said yes me and my cousins ram screaming His sister Diane Dafoe is my Grannny and she’s not so known
@Toxic just because nothing interesting happens in your life doesn't mean this isn't true lmao
@Toxic Who are you that he should have to prove it to you?
Toxic the world isn’t that big. It’s not impossible for a movie star to have extended family. They are people just like us.
Exactly my sisters famous. Shit happens. @toxic living up to his name and has to suck the joy out of peoples lives. Celebrity is what we make these people don't forget that. They're human at the end of the day.
@Toxic Why in the world would you question this? Totally plausible and not exaggerated. Seems true to me.
He should win the Oscars! His performance on The Florida Project was amazing

If it sounds European, that's because it is; 'Willem' is the Dutch equivalent of 'William'.

He's got the acting talent to The Joker justice and that evil laugh and smirk only adds the cherry on top.

Woah, ending music is LOUD, needs to be normalized to rest of video. Please turn volume down a little. Thanks!
phaelox Yep. Rip my ears.
phaelox they went from the annoying outro videos to copying the daily show by blasting our eardrums. Gah why can't they just quit messing with it already?! Their efforts would be better put into putting the monologue in order or just labeling them 1, 2, 3 etc.
Dude, as I was scrolling through the comments, I saw this one and the loud outro started... #wtf
phaelox If it's too loud, you're too old.
Dr. Mantis Toboggan, M.D., quite the opposite. If it's not loud to you, compared to the rest of the video, you're getting deaf, old man. Also, you must not understand basic audio editing. They, the A/V person that edited this video, slapped two different audio files together without normalizing, which is a rookie mistake. The problem is exacerbated using headphones. The volume transition from main video to outtro music is such, that it can cause damage to your hearing. As an "M.D." you should know and care about this... Unless you're only one on YT for bragging rights.
What a brilliant interview thanks for uploading.Willem is an excellent actor and seems to be an even better person in real life.
I must say: this outro is so much better than doing adds to get people to subscribe, I've been subscribed to this channel for years, it's the only way I can watch the show, and it's enough to get people subscribed and liking it within the same day it's posted.
Wow, I never though much of him as an actor but watching him be himself is awesome.
JAYSUS .. cranck the music up to 11 at the end why don't you!
Why don't you just make 10 louder... and make 10 the top number? And make that a little louder...
But this one goes up to 11!
YES! Best comment section *ever* !
We need more Willem Dafoe interviews to watch.
make the outro music louder please. I hate my ears
