A proud bath architect in ancient Rome starts randomly surfacing in present-day Japan, where he's inspired by the many bathing innovations he finds.
The time travel bath house comedy we all didn't know we needed.
from the creators of hot tub time machine who got isekaied from a parallel reality where craig robinson is japanese
I think there is live action movie for it
Have already a movie xd
Comedy? This is a documentary 😂😂
I finished watching this. It was _all right_
Really, I don't know why I kept watching. It wasn't very compelling
This anime feels like a massive fever dream
10/10, Love it
The Roman love of public bath houses and the Japanese love of public bath houses is such a match made in heaven I'm surprised I never thought of it.
There is an episode where the two get to influence each other.
I was a little disappointed that he didn't travel to public bath houses in the Arabic world as well. I have been to Bath houses in Saudi Arabia and God, they are otherworldly. Nothing will ever compare.
@@dinem4624 Otherworldly levels of body hair too?
@@lindgrenland sorry if I offended you in any way
@@dinem4624 What, offended? How would you have offended me? =D I too have known the glory of the baths, in southern Spain at least. And the roman bath in Bath years ago (but that doesn't count because you kinda die if you go in the water)
That's one of the things I love about anime/manga: there's anime/manga about literally everything!
Random Japanese Author after waking up from a dream: **Noted**

the source material manga is a modern masterpiece.
looking forward to this new adaptation that hopefully does it justice!
I can hardly wait for the prequel!
I wouldn't call it masterpiece, but it is one of the unique and clever ones.
Not like the previous adaptation did not give it Justice... it just was too damn short.
@@rainbowprism6242 INDEED man. Awesomely suck. Hope this one delivers!
Fingers crossed this new series will cover the entire manga....
This was one of Mari Yamazaki's stories before she worked on Olympía Kýklos in which the potter/amateur athlete Demetrios time slipped to Tokyo in the year 1964 A.D., Tokyo's first hosting of the Olympics. The basic idea of the main character learning from the future is used in both stories.
Made me think of Olympia kyklos, didn't realise it was the same person behind it
Wait they were by the same person? Olympia Kyklos is so underrated. "Areteeeee"
Oh, a reverse time travel anime? Gonna be on my watchlist this season.
Time travel is time travel , doesnt matter whether it is to the past or to the future.
@@glendjunuslodoli211 yeah but reverse time travel is better
@@Django0324what the hell even is Reverse time travel? Time not travelling?
@@nathanperoandrei3841 it is isn't it?
@@Django0324 yep
I wasn't expecting much going into this anime, but god was it oddly enjoyable. Underrated anime, definitely worth watching.
Binged this in a day, we need a second season.
Seconded the second season
I second this proposal
ABSOLUTELY
Comic book industry: “here’s another comic book about batman, superman”
Manga industry “here’s a manga about a time traveling bathhouse designer”
it's how mangas can out sell the entire comic book market
There's a raunchy comedy called To Be Hero about a lewd toilet seat designer who falls into another realm and becomes a super hero. Except now he's unrecognizable to his daughter.
Manga industry: "Here is another uninspired story about something not japanese... that gets turned into something japanese again, because all there is is Japan and japanese culture only!
only flavour of new comics is if the hero is gay or black
@@bifrostbeberast3246 and you will never be a woman
The fact that they took part of the opera Carmen, turned it from French into Italian, AND wrote new bathhouse-related lyrics just for this show is my favorite thing ever omfg
That's so freaking funny
It feels like it's been so long since anime like this is being made. I'm very excited for this, well done Netflix.
Bubble is coming out soon
I remenber watching the first adaptation 11 years ago or so... and it was hilarious...I'm glad to see they did a huge improve on the animation....you should definitely watch this....
But most site didn't upload finish, they didn't upload the swimming pool episode at all.
This is a remake or season 2?? because the original is truly a classic. One of the most original and funny anime's out there.
That series skipped a lot in the manga though
One of very funny but educational manga I have read. This guy is so serious in his work that everything ends up very humorous, especially his reactions when he interprets modern Japanese bathouses. Eventually, he is quite dependent on getting transported to get inspiration.
Yes but he helps a japanese architect too with his ideas.
in a way i think he shows a lot of inventive thinking when he has to improvise and adapt the modern concepts to his day!
1:37 The voice acting had me dying. Can’t wait to watch it.
I just found this on Netflix and was really intrigued. If you like history, culture, architecture and anime, definitely give it a go. I was surprised by how good it is. Some much attention to detail in the roman archictecture and latin speaking. I dont think everything is 100% accurate but some of the details about the baths, toilets and culture, are amazingly precise. Really underrated.
this ia why i love manga and anime,
they not only limited to edgy/jokes,
this series practically have comedy, drama, politics, and more shoved into one without intruding it's viewers/readers
That's why I hate anime and manga,
even when thy try to talk about other cultures or even fantasy,
they just CANNOT talk NOT about Japan. It is impossible. It all has to lead back to Japan, always. And if possible it HAS to highlight, how awesome Japan and its culture is.
This culture is such a self-centric piece, it is hard to bear sometimes.
As a person who likes ancient greece/rome and know some anime and japanese stuff...Now this!.. this is something that i would like to see!!!
It looks gay tho

This has potential to become one of my favorite comedies off the trailer alone
As a daily reader of all things Rome. All I can say is thank you. We may never get HBO'S Rome continuation, but this will do for now.
True Roman bread, for true Romans!
I believe the author studied Roman history, the manga was very historically accurate with archeological references
@@lieutenantkettch But you are enemies.
I am so loving that Kenjiro Tsuda is receiving now lots of love, appreciation and more promotions... Been a fan of this guy for about 20years (can't believe its that long already 😱, since YuGiOh and PoT), and I am really happy for him.
がんばてくださいね津田さん 🥰😘💕
He was also the voice actor of the househusband yakuza
He really is getting a lot of roles in recent seasons.
He always had a lot of love, Kaiba voice was always perfect! But yes lately he does seem to work a lot more
I sent his voice from "To you eternity" to a friend.
She straight up went to watch the anime lol
@@jomaritucas4802 is he the same guy that plays in the life action psa series?
He also voice Mikoto Suoh from K Project
A must-be-seen. It's based on a wonderful and funny story made by a mangaka who really knows the ancient Roman civilization.
For knowing ancient rome, they talk awefully LOT about Japan, japanese culture, japanese bathhouses, japanese food, etc.
I think it is just another failed attempt at showing something not-japanese in a japaniese anime/manga.
@@bifrostbeberast3246 I respect your opinion, but I think otherwise.
Please make more Netflix. I loved this anime. Had such a good message and was so feel good. I wanted to take a bath after every episode.
ive never seen so much meme potential crammed into five minutes like this
It's so beautiful I could cry. I'm absolutely speechless.
That golden bath water...
If it isn’t one of my favourite voice actor of all time. I was sold the minute I heard him and I can’t wait to watch it 😆
ちゃんとしたアニメ化は嬉しい

This show has been so refreshing and soothing and entertaining to watch. I also learn a lot about cultures of hygiene and recreation I never previously thought much about.
I enjoy Ms Yamazaki's shorts at the end of each episode, showing her inspiration and passion.
thank you for sharing this.
This is a labour of love. You can tell that so much thought went into this series and the author wants us to genuinely learn more about the rich history of bath houses in the West and hot springs in the East.
This show is absolutely amazing. I never thought I would get invested in something like this. I was thoroughly pleased by it. I’m hoping for season 2 and I’m glad he resolved things with his wife.
I just know kejiro tsuda will have a blast with this anime. 😂
SO GOOD!! I love that at the end of each episode we see Mari visiting different real spas and talk about traditions there. It is BRILLIANT
Un anime que no podía estar mejor, combina el japón moderno con la antigua Roma, una loca y rara propuesta pero a pesar de eso,es muy divertido...

The Bidet thing is the funniest one, because foreigners who used my bathroom are surprised about them
This manga is my favorite bath-centric reverse isekai of all time, and I don't say that lightly. Hyped for this.
*time slipped, Roma is still on Earth
As somebody now living in Germany and new found love for bath houses, this looks amazing. Can't wait to watch it.
This is so genius! I'm watching right now and I'm loving every episode while also learning a lot about Japanese culture mixed up with Roman history, like I saud, just genius!!
It’s funny, educational, easy to follow and love every episode. Perfect anime for lunch breaks or before heading off to bed
This show is amazingly detailed, novel, and just a blast. Highly recommend dipping your toes into this one.
Japanese people have a lot of funny ideas in manga.
I like them.
Keep it up, guys.
This is why I love anime, such creative out of the box minds writers and artists have
実写版も是非観て欲しい
This looks great, I'm glad anime is getting back at its game ever since this year started.
He came, he time-traveled, he went to Japan. Rome's first weeaboo xD
The artstyle is different from all the ones I’ve seen but I enjoyed it. The show, the story of how a Roman architect teleport to modern day Japan and use their ideas to make his country better. His reaction to the advance technology we use in modern day would be the same for anyone from the past.
Very good show
I just got done watching all the episodes on Netflix and now I have another favorite anime! Fantastic show!!!!
I freaking love anime/manga and this is why, literally an anime just about bathing culture.
Way to cast Tsuda Kenjiro! Bene!
Japan is Gifted 🤣🙏 they have the ability to make anything Passionate even Manga about taking you bath
Those were the most wholesome and refreshing 11 episodes I ever watched, wish we could have a bigger series.
I didn't thought this will get an anime, the live action movie was already great though I first watch it 7 years ago. Now I can't wait to see the anime
I wish they had season 2😊
im at episode 3, i could already tell, its going to be great. i am enjoying so far. i love it
I learned a lot about bathhouses
just watched this entire series. straight 10/10 comedy and educational reverse Isekai !
Make sure to watch Olympia Kyklos too, the Hellenic equivalent
The anime taught me more about roman and japanese bath house than my mentor in history of architecture ( roman architecture).
This one and Ryuguden are some weird hiddden gems, im glad to see it receiving more love
Roman bathhouse time travel? I’m sold.
This anime is a masterpiece and I love the tour of the hot springs Yamazaki sensei gave us after each episode. Netflix please renew and take my 💰!!!
Lucius "their face are flat!" ......
I know this is gonna be an absolute BLAST 🤣 when you think you've seen everything in anime
There is a movie with Jean Reno and Christian Clavier in which they are middle-age knights and pulled into today or rather the 80/90s (cause that how old the movie is).
There are even 2 parts of it. One in which they land in France and the other one I think they land in the USA cause everyone wanted to make it in US back in those days..
Movie was called "Les Visiteurs" or "The Visitors" The second movie "Just Visiting" even had Christina Applegate in it.. but I haven't watched them in a long time cause I don't know where to get them.. :(
This anime actually has the live action version too came out in 2012.
Finally the manga will have an adaptation do it more justice! 😆👍 The web anime and film was not enough lol
This was great, watched it all in one sitting. Now time for a bath.
As a fan of the Roman Empire and Japanese video games like Yakuza (Ryo Ga Gotoku), I have to say this series is amazing. Love the interviews with the author at the end of each episode. Love how you mix real history (Hadrian and Antoninus) with fiction. If I ever win the lottery, I'd love to try the bathhouses in Japan! Well done!
It's often said that everything's been done before. I now know that is untrue.
0:36 Their faces are flat😂😂
One of the best mangas in such a long time, it looks like they'll do it a great justice.
Animation looks amazing
There was also a live-action movie a few years ago. please look.
i found this series from a video talking about monster hunter collabs didnt expect this one to be so good
I read the manga back in junior high! And I loved the movie as much as the manga!
Now this as an anime?! Hello my childhood. Welcome back! (Hope Netflix doesn't ruin you like He-man.)
Though I wonder it'll have a original ending, or follow either manga or movie endings?
今度はちゃんと原作者に正当な報酬が行きますように
Seriously needs a season 2 or many more seasons its just amazing
Holy shit i didnt expect there will be an anime adaption for this
Okay. I never had a idea that i need this anime. Japan you crazy ❤
1:37 First time u travel to Japan
In any other media this would be utterly nonesnsical, but It's anime so I'm guessing the goofs will be backed up by absurdly well-researched information about the history and technology of bath houses. Will watch.
There is a live-action version that was still quite decent.
Despite its absurd premise, the manga this anime was based on was surprisingly well researched.
I didn't know Hot Tub Time Machine got an anime adaptation. Cool. LOL
...HOW FAR HAVE YOU FALLEN, SETO KAIBA!! 😂
He Fallen To much that he got Time Travel to the Present Day Japan TF 😂🤣🤣🤣
YESSSSS. I actually read it before I couldn't find the translation online, so I am happy to see this animated
His entire world has been shattered
It was a fantastic show! Hopefully this show gets a bigger budget for the next season because it was really funny and interesting to learn with lucius
this a masterpiece manga that i love Congratulations getting an anime!!

1:43 exactly how I felt when I first experienced Japanese toilet bowls with warm seats and auto-bidet spray.... in a public toilet that is super clean, you can practically eat off the floor. :D
Japanese and living abroad. Watching this while dinner time. Makes me want to go back to Japan for a while to take a bath
People who say that they “aren’t into anime” make less and less sense with each series release. Anime is more varied than any other medium out there. Point blank. If you don’t like anime, you aren’t paying attention and you should feel bad.
I agree and disagree. I would change it from anime to animation in general and I would mostly agree. While anime can be varied, a lot of the popular content that gets pushed to the forefront is very risk-averse and heavily marketed towards Otaku.
For every anime like this, Attack on Titan, Aggretsuko, Vinland Saga, Ping Pong the Animation and anything else that kind of deviates from the norm, there are about 20 anime targeted specifically towards the Otaku demographic.
If that isn't enough, the form of storytelling is very different from western storytelling. There are videos explaining it.
I could also argue the animation style may also keep some away. Anime takes a more minimalistic approach to animation which may not be for everyone.
The rest are people with no intention of trying to understand or give it a try.
A primeira vez que eu vi a capa desse anime na Netflix eu pensei: "Vai ser 10" . E após ver o trailer: "CARAMBA VAI SER INCRÍVEL AAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
This is the most anime concept ever.
