I always love when you do videos similar to this! It would be awesome to have a "Mix-It Monday" where one Monday of the month you do some fun nail polishes mixes. You could mix nail polishes together again, mixpolish with eye shadow or other powder makeup pigments like highlighters and blush, or even use actual polish grade pigments/suspension to mix colors.
Hint from a former chemist: cut most of the stem of of your funnel. Put the eye shadow into a piece of paper, fold the paper to turn it into a "scoop", and pour it into the funnel from the paper-scoop in small portions. Flick the funnel a bit and it should go in easier.
I have done this many times, I am not really an eyshadow person and if I wear one its usualy nude. A litle bit of adviace 1) I use a paper to tranfer the pigment in the bottle, I folde it in two and the pigment goes in the craks and its easier to pour in the bottel. 2) go slow with the pigment you can always add more but you cant remove it. 3) scrape the eyshadow super fine its easier to mix and also its a lot more satisfaing. 4) If you dont have mixing balls use a stick to mix the polish 5) always put a papertowel under your work space its going to be a mess. I personaly have never used a thiner but the top coat I used was very thine anyway, simmers always work best and the final prodact always looks mat, also you will notice that after you live the polish for some time the pigment will setle in the botom of the bottle its totally normal just sake it again and it will be fine. I dont know how long they last I have them for years but I dont use them offen . I have to say I never thought to put two colors together I will defenatly trie that, your colors look great.
I think is a nice idea for an occasion in which you want to really match your makeup with your manicure. I'll do a really small amount and use it just for that day... I love it!
I’d love to see another one where you test eye shadow quality to see if you get better or worse results! I love videos that are just fun while also informative! I’ve never done this but I don’t wear makeup so never had the supplies lol.
This was so much fun, I'd love to see a part 2!! Might be kinda interesting to see what the eyeshadows look like swatched? Or a matching makeup look? Thanks for another great video, it cheered my day! 💖
These are so pretty! This is how I started when I got into nail polish because I was a broke little 9 year old who took her moms makeup and dollar store top coats to make more colors! This takes me back❤️ thanks for the thinner tip!
Something I learned from a book on nail polish is that matte topcoat is similar to suspension base-- not the same, obviously, but for the purposes of diying, it's a lot easier to get. I used it during quarantine when I decided to mix my nail polishes together and I wanted to add some mica shimmer.
Just a tip if you ever do this again, when you scrap the eyeshadow out of the pallet dump it out onto a piece of paper, then the paper over ontop so the shadow is sandwiched and you can crush it to be smaller particles, then the paper is already creased so you can easily just tilt the paper into the bottle. No mess ♥
I have tried it. I used a very sheer white shimmery polish from Taylor Morgan and a Mac matte dark purple pigment. I wasn't using neither of them so...It turns out I have a beautiful shimmery mid tone purple polish to use now.😉
Love the colors of #2 and 6. How fun this would be. I do have a suggestion though. You can find 15 ml medicine cups to use for mixing in - measure a few mls of polish (less than what your bottle holds), then add your powder and mix with whatever small implement you have handy like an orangewood stick, pour in the bottle and top off with more polish to fill and shake. This may be a bit easier to control the lumps.
Over the last few months I’ve come to LOVE your channel and content. Now, I watch every video, I get excited for the days you upload. You’re so positive and fun to watch, your swatches are so comprehensive and well done, and I’m so glad I found your content!
that duochrome rose gold is actually my favorite eyeshadow lmao, i have that palette as well as a single pan of just that color watching you break it killed me a little bit inside but it looked so good as a nail polish, wow
Might sound a little more messy, but hear me out. When you pick out the eyeshadow crumbles into a bowl, mush them up with gloves hands or one of those grinding tools(for the life of me I can't remember what you call it) so make it more of a powder and get rid of the chunks :) then put it through the funnel
I would have crushed the powder between paper sheet and a spoon before using paper to pour in the funnel, but other than that... you made me want to go find my unused eye shadow and buy stuff on amazon to start doing this extra polishes I absolutely don't need but absolutely want 🤣
This video couldn't have come at a better time! I just threw out some eyeshadows yest, and now I can make them into pretty nail polishes. Thanks so much!
What a fun experiment! I never would have thought to try this. Maybe pushing the eye shadow through a strainer or crush it with a spoon or in a plastic bag as others have mentioned would help make the powder a little more fine. But that rose gold was amazing! And I loved the last one too with that little glimmer of the blue in there. Great job!
love all of these but the camel color. I have a pile of pallets my step daughter gave me, and I can't wear any kind of eye make up anymore, so this might be a fun rainy day project! totally would watch a part two... I was hoping you would do that beautiful shimmery teal **sadface**
I have so many old eyeshadows that I never wear, I can't wait to try this! My daughter loves the makeup slime videos too but I'm much more of a nail polish person. To actually get use of some of these things could be so fun! Edit: I've been watching your videos casually for awhile and this has finally made me subscribe, I don't want to miss any updates!
This was a great video and I would love to see a part 2! Some things that might help you with consistency are getting a digital food scale with a tare button so you can quantify how much powder vs liquid you're using. Also, you could probably get a tiny mortar and pestle to process the powder before putting it in the bottle to smooth out the texture.
I would really like to see a part 2. These mixing videos are awesome. I am kind of surprised these were so opaque. I wonder what would happen if an eyeshadow was mixed with a colored polish instead of clear.
I actually have been doing this for years. When I get tired of something I make franken polishes and mix in any eyeshadows, pigments and tiny glitters I can find until I get giggles out of it lol 😂❤
I'm totally doing this and I'm using my Jeffree Star palette! Been thinking about how to do this for a while now so your vid was perfect timing. My favs are definitely the green and the shimmery pink. Would love to see a part 2, and with some black flecks 🖤
Back in the late 90’s or early 2000’s they sold loose mineral makeup. They had a certain kit to make nail polish, this reminds me of it. It was fun! Love your videos 💗
I agree that mixing your own polish is super fun! I’m in the process of launching my own indie polish brand so I’ve mixed up a lot of polish and I have a few suggestions that might give you better results. I personally wouldn’t just mix the polish in the bottle. You can buy some small plastic medicine cups on Amazon for pretty cheap to mix in instead. Also I wouldn’t use top coat. I would suggest using clear polish so it doesn’t dry too fast on you or you can even buy legit nail polish suspension base from Glitter Unique. You just pour a little bit of the clear polish into the medicine cup then a little of the eyeshadow and mix it together with a popsicle stick or something. Once it is all mixed together well and you get out all the clumps, you can pour it into the bottle and you don’t need the funnel at all. Just squeeze the cup and it should pour in easily. If you don’t have enough to fill the bottle just top it off with some more clear then shake it up and you’re done. This way should help it not be clumpy and make sure it all mixes in better. Also you will know if you added too much pigment before you waste a bottle.
How fun!! I needed this video today! I was in a doctor's appointment waiting room, talking out loud when they spilled. I LOVE THE GREEN! 🥰💓, You are fabulous 💗!
This was great to watch. I would love to see more videos like this. It was very satisfying to watch and see the final result. Definitely the shimmer eyeshadow hold the secret for a better consistency.
I bet if you mixed the thinner with a little bit of TC and the pigment first, it would help break up all the lumps! Then adding the rest of the TC and shaking. Part 2 with different kinds of eyeshadow please!! Or really anything... I love the mixing videos!
My favorite one is #6. That color is gorgeous. I love the green and the purples, but that pink/gold color is so beautiful. I would love to try this!!!!
I wonder if you got individual pans and scraped them out and then tried to crush them up more if they would go into the bottle easier. I definitely want to see more!!!

Hi kelli, I'm so glad you made the same mistakes I made. Lol I ended up putting a tiny piece of tape underneath the bottle as the funnel makes it top heavy. And I used a very good clear polish as a base. Your polishes are beautiful. The green is really nice. Thank you for another great video. Stay safe and have a wonderful day. 💅
@@KelliMarissa I'm just really old lol I made a terrible mess and I had such a hard time cleaning up. That's when I tried to figure out how to do it and not mess up my space. Your polishes turned out beautifully.
How fun! Tried this with a blush palate I bought a while ago that didn’t suit me. I put the thinner in first and it dissolved all the powder and eliminated the clumpiness. It made an interesting chromy peach color.
I got several nail polish making kits from an indie maker. It's a lot of fun playing with real suspension base, glitter, shimmer, holo etc. There will be a topper kit available at Polish Pickup in April
This is very satisfying to watch! It might be easier to use a piece of paper folded in half as the ‘funnel’. The pigment might not stick as much to it as it doesn’t tend to have a static effect on fine particles, like plastic does.

Why do you use a top coat and not a clear polish?
i would love to see you make actual nail polish!! i think TKB trading has the supplies for it
Maybe I should do that next!
I would like to see this as well.
Sadly they don’t ship to Oz ….
I’d totaaaaally buy a dupe for “Experiment #6” if you collabed with a company to make it 🤩
Essies “One Way for One” is an almost perfect dupe for this one!
That rose gold! ::Chef's Kiss:: Wow, I never thought of trying to make my own nail polish--thanks for the idea, maybe I'll give it a try!

Maybe it's good to try with some of those cheap eyeshadow kits they sell at drugstores haha!
Yes please another DIY video, your so good at them.
Will do!! Thank you!!
If you try it again, try a clear polish rather than a top coat. Like from wet n wild or revlon. You may not need as much thinner.
This was so much fun, I'd love to see a part 2!! Might be kinda interesting to see what the eyeshadows look like swatched? Or a matching makeup look? Thanks for another great video, it cheered my day! 💖

They're fun to do but the powder settles after a while and the separation looks weird lol. Those steel balls definitely help to re-mix.
Oh man haha do you find that remixing them makes them work again? Or is it eventually just gunk?
Or maybe... like Honey Nectar from Kokie Cosmetics - nice colour, not so nice formula
I tried doing this with some pigment last fall and it eventually turned into pure gunk
I love the mad scientist approach to nail art experimentation!
That looks like fun! I want to try it now, I have a sally hansen 2 in 1 base/top coat that I don't really like to use, it might be perfect for this.
My girls 8 and 6 are thrilled about trying this with my too-glittery Colourpop shades!
Omg I didn't even think to use my colourpop glitters! But I totally should, I'm not a fan of using glitter on my eyes!
The not eye safe glitters they have been putting in their pallets would make awesome nail polish I bet!!
I have tried it. I used a very sheer white shimmery polish from Taylor Morgan and a Mac matte dark purple pigment. I wasn't using neither of them so...It turns out I have a beautiful shimmery mid tone purple polish to use now.😉
