Here is a life changing stamping nail art hack: apply a layer of clear polish over the base color and let it dry for about 30 seconds. This way the base will be a bit tacky and the design will transfer perfectly every time!
Huh, that's interesting. If my base layer is too glossy and/or completely dry, I usually take a buffer block and buff the top layer. And that's always worked for me.
LA colors top and base coat is great for this, it stays tacky for about 10min after trying for 60s. Great if you're a little slow with your transferring and the stamping polish is drying too quickly to stick to your nails :)
I really liked how you admitted that you hadn't mastered the advanced stamping of make a decal. Its refreshing to hear an experienced individual admit that not everyone needs to do it all perfectly!
I've been stamping since Maniology was called Bundle Monster! My tip is to make your decals using the silicone mat (instead of painting onto the stamper), that way you can do all 10 at once (and make sure they're perfect), then lift them off and apply to your nails. You may have to trim the decal to make it fit your nail if it's a whole nail design.
I have a tip for advanced stamping, instead of coloring it in and adding top coat to make it into a decal. Let the design completely dry on top of the stamper, and add a sticky base coat to your nails before applying the stamp. I don't remember where I learned this but I could never do advanced stamping when making a decal but I've never had a problem doing it the sticky base coat method. Hope this helped!! 💖
I use dotting tools to color in my stamping designs when I do reverse stamping. I let it dry completely while I use yellow stopper on my nail. Everything transfers perfectly!
The timing of this video is so perfect, I just got my first stamping set with plates, a scraper, and a stamp in the mail yesterday and I was going to try it out tonight. Thank you for the tips!
Also a quick tip that have made my life so much easier and I don’t know why a lot of people don’t know about it! Use a water based top coat when you stamp or when you do nail art if you don’t want to smudge your design and after it completely dries, you could apply your favorite top coat. The one I use is from essence cosmetics called “melted chrome” and it’s pretty affordable 💕
I really needed this!☺️🙌🏻 Stamping is one of the only thing with nailart that I have a hard time doing, thank you so much for making this video Kelli!💕🤗
Really, thank you for the video. I was just about to do my nails for the week when I saw the notification for your video. Maybe it's a sign? I have over 50 stamping plates, but have NEVER been able to stamp a design on my nails properly. Not once, EVER! I gave up trying over a year ago. During this quarantine I said I was going to practice stamping, but I haven't even opened the box that holds all my stamping supplies. I don't remember if I have a clear stamper. I might need to buy one. I don't remember if I have bought anything from Maniology, but I do remember buying a lot of stuff from them when they were about to change their name from Bundle Monster. All the stuff had the old name, so they had some really great sales in stuff. Okay, I'm going to stop procrastinating now. 😅 Thanks again for the video and hopefully the next time I try stamping my nails I will have better luck!😊
The big (clear) Pueen stamper available at Walmart is my absolute favorite. Ever since I bought it, I've actually had a hard time finding an image that it couldn't pick up. 10/10 would recommend!
Haha! I seriously feel your pain - I struggled with stamping for so long. I feel like the new stampers are significantly easier to use than the old ones! Maybe try picking up a different stamper and see if it helps!
Thanks for this! I tried stamping years ago and I couldn't get it to work, recently tried again this winter and I finally got the image to pick up. Having really opaque polish that's meant for stamping seriously helped. It takes some experimenting and practice but it's worth it. I'd love another stamping nail art video!
Ohh yes they're such a great way to organize! I actually needed more room so I recently got the MoYou London book for my plates and it's so pretty haha
And the stamping plates that are designed for layering, such a flowers, that have a stencil for base colour, colour high lights and then outline! I love those ones 😍
Once I was pretty much into watching stamping videos, then bought all the stamping supplies. But I realized that it's not as easy as it looked! 😅 I wanted to try layered design, but now I'm happy if one pattern transfers more or less complete to my nail! 😅
I actually found your channel because I bought a bundle of 10 collaboration plates randomly from them a few years ago and one of them was yours. I had forgotten about that until just now. You are the only channel I still watch from that group too.
@@KelliMarissa By the way thanks so much for keeping all your videos clean. My parents have a lot of restrictions for what I can watch and I really love learning more about nail art, and you're the only person I can watch. Also, I love your personality.
Yes please do a vid showing different stamping techniques! 😍I love stamping. I, too, find I have so many ideas in my head, but never enough time to do them all 😂
Great video! My daughter and I love the Sharpie stamping technique. You should look into it! Also, I have found that if I spray some aerosol hairspray on my design and let it dry, I can use my regular top coat (I use gel) without smudging. Just a fun little trick for those who don't have the Maniology No Smudge TC. I'd love to see a nail art video with some of your stamping ideas. Always looking for inspiration!
A few tips/tricks: Instead of using nail polish or stamping polish, you can use acrylic paint! If you do not want to invest in a mat, a ziplock baggie works just as well! I actually reuse mine all the time and it works so well :)
Another great video Kelli. I too found nail stamping so difficult and nearly impossible when I first tried it a few years ago. The use of silicone has completely changed the game for nail stamping. I also was one to say that stamping polishes were not necessary in the beginning, but have found that when it comes to the non-cream type choices, stamping polish is a must. With the cream type colors you can usually get a decent job done with a highly pigmented and opaque polish. Your videos are so great, and I love how you give info about the basics needed to get started without emptying your savings account. Because it is really frustrating to spend a ton of money on all the supplies needed to try a technique out only to find out that it isn't really something you are into. There is no doubt that once you find that you love a particular technique there are endless companies and suppliers where you can find all the specialty products that can take your results to the next level of awesome. And that can get a bit pricey,. Honesltly though, who can put a price on doing something that brings you joy and makes you feel beautiful, I ask. There is a learning curve that is involved, of course. Timing is something that ony practice can solve. Which is why the more economical choices are so important when you are finding your groove. Thank you so much for posting such awesome videos. I have watched so many channels where the person really did not know what they were doing or what they were talking about. And don't even get me started on the technical quality of the video itself. OMG UGH!!! Not so with your videos. They are well made, with useful and concise information provided. Oh that means so much to hear, Kat!! And I totally agree on all points. Stamping used to be such a point of frustration for me and I spent so much money only to find it didn't really work. Now the game has totally changed, and I really love doing it!!
Omg remembering nail art a few years ago I always ask myself how the hell I even made it work. Stampers that weren't clear, no nail art matt, using tape around my nails instead of liquid latex... 😂😂
Definitely seconding the fact that using stamping polish works so much better. Yes, you can use regular polishes, but so much easier with stamping polish! 😊
This is so crazy literally an hour before this video was released I was looking on if you had a stamping video lol. Also do you would recommend any nail polish that is easy to stamp with that's not just stamping polish. Id rather get a nail polish that's versatile and comes Ina bigger bottle
There's no one brand of polish that you can say is uniformly good for stamping, because opacities vary wildly within brands. I have found that a lot of my OPI polishes are thick/pigmented enough for stamping, but not all. My recommendation is to invest in stamping polishes for key outline colours (like black and white), then use your more pigmented regular polishes for filling in designs.
Thanks for the video! Today, I began trying to learn how to stamp and encounter the dilemma of "my stamper is not picking up the image!" After watching your video and making sure my plates were not too cold, it finally worked! Woohoo!

Hi Kelli I just ordered my Maniology nail stamping kit & came across your chanel regarding the stamping, love nail Polish so have watched your channel before for nails &/or makeup you are awesome. I'm 1 week post op brain tumor surgery recovering & binge watching my favorite influencer videos. You have such a beautiful way of explaining how to do things I'm excited & Maniology will definitely be my place for products. Have a great day xoxo 🤘💅💜💕💖💗💙💚💛💜💝💞💟
Ooh you're gonna have so much fun with stamping! It's such a fun hobby and it really takes nail art to the next level 😁 I'm so glad you enjoyed this video and my other content so far :) And wishing you a speedy recovery!! 💜💜💜💜
I did my nails prior to surgery (I know how trivial but a girl has to look good 😂) soo many compliments mine are real but look like they are professionally done. Stumbled across this Maniology in the middle of the night & was like "hell yes I'll pay s&h for this full kit" went right to your channel after. 💅💜💛😂💚💙💗💖
Thank u 4 the tutorial! It was really helpful bit I know I'm gonna 2 b adding to the hair color on my bathroom walls! My husband LOVES that! Lol I love love love ur eye makeup! I have 2 look and see if you've done a tutorial for that ! Thanks again! You're adorable!
I'm a huge fan of stamping. Almost every nail art I do is stamping nail art. And reverse stamping is so relaxing, like a color book but with nail polish)))
Yes!!! I'd love to see more stamping. Last September, while under the influence of post surgery narcotics, I bought a kit and it's been collecting dust. You have motivated me! (Those warnings about not purchasing things while you're taking narcotics is so correct. I had my phone set up with one touch pay and the first three weeks after my surgery, I started having packages getting delivered almost every day. Most of it was nail polishes from a bunch of different indie brands. It was like Christmas... Until I got my credit card bill and realized I had charged almost $1,000 while I was on my medication.)
I just came from another video of you referring to watch this one first and the vibrancy of your eye makeup looks so amazing, I wished mine looked this good! Lol
@@KelliMarissa I love watching your tutorials, you explain everything VERY well and they are easy to understand. You're also a really cool chick and are all around fun to watch. :)
I’ve been stamping religiously since January of this year (when I began my natural nail rehab journey) I looove it! It’s sooo fun and simple to do, once u get the hang of it...I found the pueen stamper at WM for $3 and bought a backup because I looove it so much ❤️
I have been quarantined for 7 weeks. I had a relapse and started biting my nails (I had broken that habit years ago). All my nail supplies are collecting dust on the shelves. I need to see some awesome nail videos for inspiration!!!!
I have seen the trend of nail stamping on instagram and such and never really cared to try it but now that you made a video about it, I can’t wait to give it a go and purchase a few plates 😃😃 I’m excited
I have stamping plates, a couple of stamps, scrapers, and stamping polishes. Used a couple of times. Got frustrated and haven’t touched since. Thanks for this video! Maybe I’ll try it again.
Could you do a nail 101 video on how you take pictures of your nails? Tips and tricks to make the best with basic kit? Your photos are always lovely and crisp. Xx
Ok, I’m putting a whole lot of trust in you. I hated my stamping supplies a few years ago. I would try and try and it wld just upset me. I’m really hoping this brand is a good one. Just ordered!! I’m excited.
OMG, I can't believe I missed this one! And your tip about not doing it in the dead of winter with heat not on is exactly what I did this past winter 🤦🏻♀️. I did give up years ago with my first opaque stamper because it was too annoying to work with, and then I bought a maniology set this past winter but that is also collecting dust. After your tips here I will bring it back out and try again. Thanks Kelli!
I got creative and started testing all my nail polishes that I already own for stamping. I'm slowly compiling a list that works for stamping in my nail art book.
What regular polishes work best for stamping? Could you do a review/favorites video about different stampers/stamping polishes/other stamping supplies?
Insta Dry from Sally Hansen in red worked for stamping. Some shades I found were too thin. Regular Essie in hot pink is opaque for stamping over a white base. And the white from Sinful Colors is pretty good as a base or for stamping. The Pueen kit includes a black and white that are amazing. The Pueen metallics collection is tricky, it works best with larger forms. Small designs don't always pick up and it dries really fast.
please help me...would you create a tutorial about reverse stamping and how to apply it on regular nail polish? And I would like to know how to put chrome powder on regular polish and what to put on top of it. Thank you, you are the best!
Kelli, I just have to tell you that you are excellent at doing videos. Very professional. You have really refined the way you present and the editing, too. Well done!
Stamping is my favorite nail art to do on my nails. I watch a lot of compilation videos on RUclips. It’s so relaxing. I would love to see you do a stamping video! I love seeing all the different plates and colors people have and use in their nail art. I have also not perfected the reverse stamping...need more practice. Thanks Kelli! 💜💜
For a cheap alternative to the nail art mat, I do all my polishing and stamping over a gallon ziplock freezer bag I cut open - you can use acetone on it safely, it catches all spills, and you can peel dried polish off. It's not opaque and you don't get the nifty finger outlines, but I find it works well for me and I didn't have to buy anything. Have you tried MoYou London stamping polishes? I know their stamping plates are good, but I don't see many people talking about the polishes and they're pretty expensive for such little bottles - I'm wondering if they're really different enough to be worth the price.
Here is a life changing stamping nail art hack: apply a layer of clear polish over the base color and let it dry for about 30 seconds. This way the base will be a bit tacky and the design will transfer perfectly every time!
Ooh thanks for sharing this trick!!!
I like to use yellow stopper since it dries with a slight tacky finish. I think Maniology sells a sticky top coat for stamping.

You are a great teacher. Yes do more videos on the actual process
Thank you! Will do!
I love stamping. I love Maniology plates too and I have your galaxy plate too. Love it.
Yes please do the video on how to use those stamping plates especially the one for French manicure , tysm 💗
Okay! :)
Omg I love your eye shadow
Lol
Yes! Stamping! I've just gotten into it too and obsessed with creating nail art using stamping!
It's so much fun, I feel like I go through waves of wanting to do tons of stamping and then I stop for months LOL
@@KelliMarissa I love watching your tutorials, you explain everything VERY well and they are easy to understand. You're also a really cool chick and are all around fun to watch. :)
Would love to see another video on the many ways you can use stamping and how to get creative with isolating images on the plate or stamper etc.
Ooh yes I can definitely do another video on it!!
I adore Maniology!
I'm here to inspire! :P Nail art coming soon!
this eye look is so amazing! you should do a makeup GRWM!
Oh gosh thanks haha!
Thanks for the info. But basically was your favorite word❣️
I love to stamp, just did one on my nails this afternoon 😍✨💅🏻
I might just do stamping today too haha!
Also on board with that compilation video 🙋♀️
Loves those galaxy designs, I can't wait to buy the plates!
I am about to get my stamping onnnnnn
Your videos are great
U talk about what I need to learn.
Awesome
I have seen the trend of nail stamping on instagram and such and never really cared to try it but now that you made a video about it, I can’t wait to give it a go and purchase a few plates 😃😃 I’m excited
Oh man I feel like I fell into a stamping hole after this video and now I can't stop haha! You gotta try it!
Thank you so much I am starting this content nail art tutorial in my country and you help me a lot thank you so much.
This will help me a lot thanks! New to the stamping polish thing. Lol.
It's so fun to get into haha!
After watching this tutorial (my first of yours) I tried this out. Came out great! Thanks for sharing this. 💅💯🙏
I have stamping plates, a couple of stamps, scrapers, and stamping polishes. Used a couple of times. Got frustrated and haven’t touched since. Thanks for this video! Maybe I’ll try it again.
Haha the learning curve is steep! But it's so worth it once you get the hang of things!!
I love how excited you are about what I you do in your videos and also how knowledgeable you are. Thx for another great video 😊
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Susan 😁
Could you do a nail 101 video on how you take pictures of your nails? Tips and tricks to make the best with basic kit? Your photos are always lovely and crisp. Xx
Your videos help me so much! We love you🥰❤️
Love you too!
Ok, I’m putting a whole lot of trust in you. I hated my stamping supplies a few years ago. I would try and try and it wld just upset me. I’m really hoping this brand is a good one. Just ordered!! I’m excited.
It should work seems like a good quality supplier
Your eye makeup. OMG i love it.
Haha oh gosh thanks!
Definitely give it another try!! Stamping is so daunting but it can be SO fun!
What’s your opinion on what’s up nails stamping products? I’m thinking about getting some
My order of your Starrily polishes came today!! So excited and so pretty!! 💕💕💕 Can’t wait to use them with your stamping plates!
Oh my gosh YAY I hope you love them!!!
I got creative and started testing all my nail polishes that I already own for stamping. I'm slowly compiling a list that works for stamping in my nail art book.
True some don't work well for stamping.
Love the eye makeup!
Oh thank you so much!!!
Thanks so much. Super helpful video. I have been scared to try stamping and now I feel ready. Placing an order on Maniology today.
Kelli, I just have to tell you that you are excellent at doing videos. Very professional. You have really refined the way you present and the editing, too. Well done!
Wow, thank you so much Debbie!
Ha! We have all the same plates! I can't believe you designed that space plate! I love it! New sub!
Haha seems like we have similar taste, Jennifer! Welcome to my channel :)
I'll definitely do a stamping compilation!!
Loooove your makeup!!!😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩🤩
For a cheap alternative to the nail art mat, I do all my polishing and stamping over a gallon ziplock freezer bag I cut open - you can use acetone on it safely, it catches all spills, and you can peel dried polish off. It's not opaque and you don't get the nifty finger outlines, but I find it works well for me and I didn't have to buy anything.
Have you tried MoYou London stamping polishes? I know their stamping plates are good, but I don't see many people talking about the polishes and they're pretty expensive for such little bottles - I'm wondering if they're really different enough to be worth the price.
Ooh thanks for sharing your tip Emily! I haven't tried their stamping polishes but I'll hopefully be giving them a try soon so I'll let you know!
