Another tip I've heard if you keep bumping your nail into the magnet, is to stick the other end to the metal lid of a candle (or anything metal of a similar height). That way the magnet stays in place and you just hold your finger under it rather than having to hold the wand yourself as well as keeping your nail still. If it's a small candle/magnet stand, you might even be able to leave your finger flat on the table and that way nothing is moving. That has helped me get a stronger cat eye line!
Tip! If you buy those big flat effect magnets from any vendor and it doesn’t work or look like the graphic, unwrap the tape and flip the magnet to the other side, then tape it back up. Test it on your polish bottle. These so commonly accidentally were assembled with the magnets flipped the wrong way and it really makes a difference! They can also get mislabeled and you have to switch the wrapping 😅

i love magnetics and keep finding new tricks to keep them fun - my favorite way to paint them is as decals. i have several different shape magnets, neodymium rings, and yes, for this method, refrigerator magnets can be fun too. put them under a plastic sheet (like a zip top bag or binder insert, then paint the magnetic polish over the area. wait til it’s completely dry (several hours) and you’ve just made a decal you can adhere any way you want on your nails! i love doing this the day before i want to change my manicure if i’m not sure i’ll have the time to sit with each nail and a magnet. QDTC won’t disperse the line either as the polish is fully set when sticking the decal on.
I love magnetic polishes! They take so long, but always worth it. I’ve never bought a collection that came with the magnetic wand so I’ve been using these strong cylinder magnets that I’ve had for years, I clip 2 of them side by side and it’s a really easy way of getting that twisted effect that you tried with the round end of the wand. Kelli, Thanks so much for this video. So kind + thoughtful of you for making this video for people like me that don't have any experience with magnetic nail polishes. I recently bought a set of 6 magnetic nail polishes that came with the magnet. I'm looking forward to using them. Thanks to your tutorial + a little practice, I should be able to get the cats eye design that I want. Thanks again! 🥰
Magnetics are my favorite finish. They just look so fancy and eye-catching. I never have trouble with the "finger on top of the magnet" method but I've definitely encountered weak magnets and polishes with less oomph in them than others. Another shortcut is doing one coat of black, then one coat of the magnetic. As for the question, I'm in texting if it's a short back and forth. But I'm not trying to have a whole conversation like that 😅 If we're TALKING, I'm calling!
Thank you for mentioning the shortcut of painting nails one coat of black nail polish first. My sister told me it makes a big difference when she paints the magnetic nail polish on top of it.
Lately I've been obsessed with doing a velvet style BUT, during the top coat, I'll hover in the aura style from far away for maybe ~10 seconds and it creates SUUUUCH a beautiful look, like the polish still shifts in that velvety way but when it does, you can see a soft, more pronounced line in the middle! Give it a try if you're ever bored. I also can never do the "under the nail" technique (might be my giant manhands 🤣), the line is always not as sharp and it's almost a "double" looking line? Not sure how to explain it. On the question: DEFINITELY text "hey can i call u" and then call, I would never "cold call" as the YOUTHS like to call it :P
I use magnetics a lot. If you use no.4 with a green magnetic polish and centre the stick, it gives off a nice leafy forest look. I use the pattern magnets to give a 3d base to stamping art too.
Oh that's cool, I never thought of using stamps over the magnetic polish. I'm def going to try that out! I love Leaves so I'll try the other tip also, thanks for taking the time to share. 😊
That little tee magnet by KBShimmer is a *really* great option for if you want to magnetize the polish on your dominant hand. I tried it about a month or two ago and actually kind of liked it after a bit of practice; too bad I threw that magnet out. I'll have to get it again next month
Thank you for this video. I've been trying to figure out the Velvet method. I kept putting the magnet directly over and hover around to no good. I see here you use the side of the magnet and create a square! OMG! Magnet sandwich! 🤯 Much appreciated. 💅🏽💅🏽💅🏽
Yes magnetics! I have been so curious of those weird sets of magnets. They actually worked way better than I thought they would. Thank you for showing each of them! I can't seem to get the round side to work well on my nails either. My nails are longer, but I think to narrow? I usually text people, but certain times I will call them. For example if I am last minute seeing if someone wants to go somewhere with me, I will give them a call to try and get a quicker answer. I also call my grandparents and mother all the time 🤣 Our family was always a call when you get home type.
Having just placed my 1st mooncat order (using the lunar sale 20% off code), I’m so stoked to watch this! These will be my first magnetic polishes so your timing is perfect. Thank you!

I appreciate all the 101 videos. 👏 I prefer to talk if the conversation is longer than a few quick texts. It’s always better to hear someone’s voice.
Kelli, thanks so much for this video! I just bought a magnetic polish and magnet and haven't tried them yet. So timely! Thanks, too, for all the helpful information.
This is a great video!!! I love seeing all the shapes, that’s really cool! One tip I’ve seen is using multiple wands at once (mostly relevant if you’re using the under-the-finger trick) but one thing I found is you have to be consistent when doing that because the magnets might have different polarizations, so sometimes I would undo the magnetization of a previous layer when I use a different magnet!
I bought the Star Wars series from Mooncat for the very first time. I have never had magnetic polishes and had no idea why my nails didn't look like what I viewed before buying them. lol. Now I know to purchase the magnetic tool and give it a shot. I'm excited! Thank you for all the tips; this will be helpful!
Check the box from the Mooncat package before you buy one! They always give a free magnet with purchase - I believe they're the only brand that does that currently 😅
@@KelliMarissa Thank you, I did check the box and there wasn't a magnet in the box😞 I do have another order from Mooncat and purchased one. can I use any kind of matte color under the magnetic polishes? thank you again for your help. 😀
@ honestly I'd reach out to customer service and let them know! They're amazing about that sort of thing 🩷 you can use any color underneath magnetics, but if it's a full coverage polish I'd recommend just wearing the magnetic on its own! You're gonna have so much fun experimenting!!
@@KelliMarissa Thank you. I can't wait; I want to order all the magnetics now! Thank you. I'm hooked. I can't wait to get my magnet. I even got a base coat from Mooncat.
I think the special magnets are supposed to be used with the design part facing up so you can see where the design is going to be! (14:51) Also quick life hack: paint the magnetic wands with magnetic polish so you will always know what the design looks like! (16:24)
What an awesome deep dive on magnetics! I’ve been pretty lucky with my small amount of experience working with magnetic polish. I’ve noticed that not all magnets are created equal, so using a strong magnet will work much better. I’m very intrigued by the magnet pack you demo’d, candy cane nails would be so fun! Thanks as always for sharing your wisdom. You’ve inspired me to try the aura technique.
I was just thinking, it might be even more fun to do a red base and then do a silver magnetic like Amulet over it with diagonal stripes! Instant candy cane manicure!
Same, no matter how long I hold the magnet, both as I'm painting and over the top coat, even of I come back and redo the magnet in like 10 minute increments until the polish is fully dry, the lines are still dispersed by the next day lol idk it just doesn't like me for some reason, maybe it's telling me to try the aura style haha
For some polishes, even if the top is dry, it can take hours for the full amount of polish to set up. Obviously we can't sit there for hours holding a magnet. I'll sometimes rig up a little contraption using blue poster sticky tack so I can just keep my finger on the table under it. Then I magnetize a bit longer, and after top coat keep it there for several minutes. It still disperses some, I haven't found a non gel magnetic polish that holds that perfect design.
Could be the top coat, could also just be a polish with a weak magnetic effect. I personally recommend ilnp, heard cirque colors magnetics are pretty good as well
Can you mix magnetic nail polishe to make a custom color? And is it possible to do half the nail in one magnet shade and a different magnetic shade on one half?
In theory both ideas should work! With the split design, you definitely want to make sure to wait until the first side is fully dry before painting the second side, to make sure the magnet doesn't accidentally pull the pigment from the first side!
You can buy magnetic pigment from places that sell nail polish making supplies. It comes as a dry powder. It wouldn't work with all polishes, if you got it you could mix up a little in a paint palette or a little plastic cup and test it out. I would have polish thinner on hand for that since it dries out pretty quick.
DRK nails sells polish making kits, I don't know if she sells supplies individually. Her store is closed until black Friday. Glitter Unique has a ton of polish making supplies. They have a black Friday sale as well, I think it's 20% discount. I definitely didn't buy almost $200 in polish making stuff 😇. I'm learning to make some resin things and the glitters and stuff work great for that too.
This might be a stupid question, but can you do the all ten nails for the first two coats and then do one nail at time when it comes to the third coat that you plan to magnetize? Love your videos!
I love magnetic polishes. I did kind of struggle with them at first but what I do is I actually magnetize all three coats. I have a shaky hand so I just do one nail at a time and set my magnet on a hard surface magnet side up and then put my finger on top of that and then paint a coat, let it dry a bit, then another coat and then the third coat. I just keep my nail on the magnet the whole time. It takes awhile but it seems to work pretty well for me.
Ah great video thanks Kelli So I've solved a couple of my issues, I wasn't doing each nail separately so that would explain why it wasn't holding or magnetising the top coat, so I'll be trying that now and I'm sure it will look so much better, thanks again 👍xx
Thank you for this video! Super helpful & I had no idea there was fancy magnet shapes! My current magnetic mani (menchie cat eye) went pretty well, but I can definitely improve my technique. I was magnetizing every coat which was pretty time consuming, so I’m looking forward to utilizing your tips. Thank you!
Yeah I definitely have a quicker time just magnetizing the top coat, and I think it looks just as good!! 😋 (Edit: I should say top LAYER, and top coat haha)
Great video; thank you. However, when you do two coats of the magnetic color for opacity, are you curing with a light after each coat? When you do the final magnetic coat and use the magnet, are you curing with the light and then doing a top coat with light? I understood the process with the magnetic, but was confused about the steps for the regular gel mani process.
I have just bought some magnetic nail polish and the wands you featured. Your tips video are brilliant cant wait until they arrive. Keep up the great work 😊
With gels, it's a bit different since each layer has to fully cure (whereas with regular polish, the magnet is affecting the layers underneath too!) So in the case of gels I recommend applying the magnet with each layer and curing before moving to the next layer and magnetizing that too!
I definitely need to lol my silly trick is that I keep a magnetic wand stuck to my drawers and anytime I pull out a polish I stick the wand to it to see if it's magnetic 😂😂
Wow this is a great video. I only heard about magnetic polish a few weeks ago. I paint my own nails and I dont like a salon person doing them. I don’t like gel or anything else. I like natural nails but im willing to try and do this style. I’m going to look on amazon and see what I like . Wish me luck 😬
Magnetic is one of my favorite formulas! I keep grabbing Cadillacquer magnetics in PPU and OMG. Stunning. Also love the idea of pulling the pigment up in the bottle before the shake. I prefer texts over phone calls any day. 😅
Thank you for posting this Kelli!! I have many magentic nail polishes in my collection. Some polishes seem to work better than others. I have an ILNP called Sandbar that barely looks like it magnetized so i am going to go back and try again after watching this. Thank you!!!!!!! ❤🎉
I do think that ILNP's first few polishes were much more subtle in terms of magnetic pigment, so if it's one of their earlier ones it might just be less magnetic 😅 but their new ones are truly amazing imo!!
Wow!! This was such an amazing 101 video about Magnetic polishes. The whole idea about magnetic polishes are just so awesome and mesmerising. I always get scared a little bit when you do your magnetization in your videos that you would smudge your polish but then you are an absolute PRO so I know I don't have to be worried. Cat eye style is my fav. Its simple and easy and looks amazing too. Thank You for this 101 video. Texting is the way to go for me. Calls only if its an emergency or if I am speaking to my close friend.
Haha I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I will admit, I've definitely bumped my nail once or twice on camera but I just redo it and edit it out LOL! It's worth the effort though because I love magnetic polishes!!
Thank you! This is right on time for me as I have never used a magnetic polish but have recently decided that I want to try. Would you suggest not using a quick dry top coat when magnetizing? As for the texting vs calling, yes definitely depends on the 'who' and it depends on what's going on with me at the time. Life is always 'life-ing' so sometimes a call just isn't convenient.
You can definitely use a quick dry top coat, just make sure you hover the magnet over it while that coat dries as well! You're gonna have a lot of fun playing with magnetics 🥰
If it's regular nail polish, it should dry by air instead of cured with light! Best way to tell if a magnetic polish is a gel or not is to check the bottle - if it's a clear bottle then it dries by air!
@KelliMarissa thank you! BTW, great video, I saw it was 18 minutes and I first thought, of this may be just a compilation with some random song attached to it, but this is by far the best video I have seen on RUclips. Straight to the point and very informative 👌
Great video! I have yet to try any magnetic polish, let alone a magnetic mani. However, this gives me some inspiration to actually try this! Thank you! I love the Amazon magnet kit too! I have bigger nail beds and tend to keep my nails on the longer side. Looking forward to trying this.
Wow - the timing of this video is almost eerie because I just today declared that I AM DONE WITH MAGNETICS I recently picked up a couple of magnetics in PPU and cannot begin to describe my disappointment between the outcome I got here at home vs. what was in the swatch photos; it almost felt like I got tricked or something (which I don't truly believe the brands in question would stoop to that kind of shady thing, but the difference was that drastic). Thanks to your tutorial, I will keep trying. I might even check out those non-standard magnet shapes. (That one rando s-curve had me literally ) Fun fact: I'm a little "long in the tooth" compared to you, so I remember the days when it was either calling someone [even before call-waiting & voicemail...I know, shocking that we ever even learned to walk upright back in the day 😋], or flat out just going to see them in person! Flash forward to post-COVID and I've spent so much time sequestered from other humans that I now almost exclusively text (or email if my message is too long). Funny how things change over time!
Haha oh gosh I remember the days before texting, sometimes I can't believe how far technology has progressed in such a short time! I remember when I used to have to go to the front office in school to beg the secretary to let me call my mom if I needed to ask her something, or use a payphone at the mall to have someone meet me LOL
I dont know what im doing wrong :(( i have mooncat Poseidon's Prize and Velvet Rose, and used the complentary magnet they send exactly like you demonstrated 4:55 and no matter how thick a coat I do, the line is never very sharp or stands out much :( I hold it as close to the nail as possible and even set 45 second timers before and I just cant get a good effect :( I feel like the magnet isnt strong enough?? But here in this video and other videos, simply waving the wand over even the bottle creates this obvious dramatic shift that I cant recreate myself on the bottle or my nails
Hmm, I haven't used the Mooncat magnet but it might be worth buying a different magnet to get the desired effect! You can buy a neodymium magnet on Amazon for a super strong line. Also, make sure you're working quickly (and not in a cold room/with air blowing on your nail) because you need to start magnetizing before the polish starts to dry!
@@KelliMarissa will just any neodymium magnet work? I've been trying to find a new magnet but I'm not sure whats actually good or if I'm just being advertised to when searching >w
@KelliMarissa aw thank you, I did buy some of those a bit ago and I still have trouble with the polish so maybe it's just mooncat unfortunately:( I'll try some other brands Thank you!
Welcome to my little corner of the internet! Nail polish is such a great hobby because it doubles as self care :) you're gonna have so much fun with it!!
Thank you! My first magnetic polish is in the mail. I have some super strong magnets that have hooks on them to hang things. They are round, a little larger than a quarter. Do you think this would work for the velvet style?
I followed the steps, exactly, and it worked. But once I put my topcoat on, my cat eye I disappeared, and it looks like regular polish. Any tips on what I did wrong? Do I have to hold a magnet over a topcoat?
Hi! Thanks for the video! Can I ask a question please? Do I have to use a base color under the magnetic nail gel? I was confused why the nail artist asked me to choose a base color. Can’t I just have the base coat + the magnetic nail gel?
I love the magnet shapes! I also have a flower looking shape that's like the pen and it creates cute little starbursts. I bought some awhile ago too and I must say that I've found working with gel magnet polishes are WAY easier! You can continually work on it without the risk of it drying and the lines tend to be and stay sharper so I've found but that's just me, I have such a hard time with regular magnetic polish! 😭 But part of it could be differences in quality between brands too.
Ooh yeah magnetic gels are great for taking your time! Honestly using gels really helped me learn how to master regular magnetic polish because it helped me learn how to work quickly (and still giving myself time for mistakes while I practiced with gels haha!)
Another tip I've heard if you keep bumping your nail into the magnet, is to stick the other end to the metal lid of a candle (or anything metal of a similar height). Am I the only one who doesn't get this? What this looks like? 😅

Ooh yeah that makes sense haha!
The magnets have a little lip on them for resting on your finger so I believe they're meant to be used like regular nail magnets!!
@@KelliMarissathey might still work in both directions, it might be worth trying ❤ and the second tip I mentioned could still be useful!
OMG! The horizontal strips are sooooo cool and the diagonal. OMG!!
My two faves as well, I can imagine so many cool manis with them!! Especially with some of those funky KBShimmer magnetics haha
You’ve convinced me I need to add Amulet to my wish list! Haha I’m gonna try this!
Justv discovered you and i love the detail and camera quality. Also love that your eye makeup complements your nails ❤
Oh gosh thank you so much! 🥰❤️ And welcome to my channel!!
This is incredibly helpful and SO thorough! Thank you!
So happy you enjoyed it 🥰🥰
Ugh! I can never get magnetic to work no matter what advice u follow. 24 hours later it has disappeared. Hopeful some of this will help.😊
Ahh hope this helps!! 🤞🤞
SAME
Same, no matter how long I hold the magnet, both as I'm painting and over the top coat, even of I come back and redo the magnet in like 10 minute increments until the polish is fully dry, the lines are still dispersed by the next day lol idk it just doesn't like me for some reason, maybe it's telling me to try the aura style haha
I personally recommend ilnp, heard cirque colors magnetics are pretty good as well
Ooh, I'm going to have to get a set of shaped magnets like that! My magnetics are all gels, so I have more wiggle room on adjusting the patterns.
Ooh yeah gels are such a great way to get the perfect magnetic look!!
I really enjoy the really shiny/gel polishes. Even the shimmer ones
@@KelliMarissa that's a good tip
Not a stupid question at all and yes! That's actually usually how I do it, sorry I didn't specify that haha 😅😅
Are there any special instructions on storing magnetic gel or the magnet?
No special storage needed! Just make sure you shake up the polish well before you apply it so the magnetic pigment is dispersed :)
Just bought my first magnetic polishes and I'm so excited for velvet nails!!
Ohh you're gonna have so much fun playing around!!!
Those are great tips imo! I know a lot of people have success magnetizing each coat. I don't know why it never works for me haha!
Ah great video thanks Kelli
So I've solved a couple of my issues, I wasn't doing each nail separately so that would explain why it wasn't holding or magnetising the top coat, so I'll be trying that now and I'm sure it will look so much better, thanks again 👍xx
Do you have to use uv lamp to cure it to dry or they can air dry?
If you use a regular magnetic polish, it will dry by air! UV lamps are only necessary for gel polish :)
@@KelliMarissa so there is actually on regular magnetic the nail polish in the market that is not necessarily gel-based! Any specific brand?
Thank you for this video! Super helpful & I had no idea there was fancy magnet shapes! My current magnetic mani (menchie cat eye) went pretty well, but I can definitely improve my technique. I was magnetizing every coat which was pretty time consuming, so I’m looking forward to utilizing your tips. Thank you!
Yeah I definitely have a quicker time just magnetizing the top coat, and I think it looks just as good!! 😋 (Edit: I should say top LAYER, and top coat haha)
Very useful video. I absolutely love using magnetic polishes.
So for gel magnetic polishes specifically, yes you need to cure after each coat! If it's regular polish, it will dry by air so no curing necessary!
I have just bought some magnetic nail polish and the wands you featured. Your tips video are brilliant cant wait until they arrive. Keep up the great work 😊
When using gel magnetic polish do you cure your first coat and then put on your second coat and then use the magnetic and the cure it
With gels, it's a bit different since each layer has to fully cure (whereas with regular polish, the magnet is affecting the layers underneath too!) So in the case of gels I recommend applying the magnet with each layer and curing before moving to the next layer and magnetizing that too!
Do you mark your magnetic polishes? I have already forgotten which ones are which in my out of control polish collection.

Best video for beginners to this topic
Thank you so much! perfect timing! I just bought my first magnetic polishes! I didn’t understand the aura style before you explained it.
Oh yay good timing haha! I hope you have fun playing with the magnetics!!
Can ilnp magnetic wand be used on magnetic gel polish?
Yes! Any magnetic wand should work on any polish or gel, you don't need a brand specific one 😄
Do you need to lamp cure?
Not for regular polish! It dries by air :)
love your make up omg! especially the eyebrows!!!
Magnetic is one of my favorite formulas! I keep grabbing Cadillacquer magnetics in PPU and OMG. Stunning. Also love the idea of pulling the pigment up in the bottle before the shake. I prefer texts over phone calls any day. 😅
Ooh I am trying to think if I've used a Cadillacquer magnetic but my mind is blanking!!
Thank you so much for a very descriptive lesson I've been working with magnetic polish for years, But this was a very helpful video Thank you!
Oh yay I'm so glad you found it helpful!!
Any thoughts on the lights lacquer magnetic polishes?
Thank you for posting this Kelli!! I have many magentic nail polishes in my collection. Some polishes seem to work better than others. I have an ILNP called Sandbar that barely looks like it magnetized so i am going to go back and try again after watching this. Thank you!!!!!!! ❤🎉
I do think that ILNP's first few polishes were much more subtle in terms of magnetic pigment, so if it's one of their earlier ones it might just be less magnetic 😅 but their new ones are truly amazing imo!!
Thank you so much Kelli this is really helpful. Can you tell me what polish you are wearing in the into and outro here it looks amazing, thank you 🙂
Sure! I've always got it listed in the description - today it's OPI The Leo-nly One!
I buy this combo of magnet and some work well a don’t, you think are the nail polish or just me
It could be the brand! Which brands have you been struggling with?
@@KelliMarissa madam glam
Thanks for the video! It definitely helps a very new beginner! But... What brand/color is your eyeshadow?!
Do you regular nail polish remover get off nail lacquer polish, not gel?
Magnet 4 gave a flame look. Very cool!
Ooh yeah!!
Just ordered the magnet kit from Amazon. Can’t wait to experiment! Thanks 😊🤗
Ooh yay let me know how it works for you!!
Thanks Kelli. I’ve never tried a magnetic polish but will have to give it a go. Super helpful xo
Yay I'm happy I could help!!
Thank you! This is right on time for me as I have never used a magnetic polish but have recently decided that I want to try.
Would you suggest not using a quick dry top coat when magnetizing?
As for the texting vs calling, yes definitely depends on the 'who' and it depends on what's going on with me at the time. Life is always
'life-ing' so sometimes a call just isn't convenient.
You can definitely use a quick dry top coat, just make sure you hover the magnet over it while that coat dries as well! You're gonna have a lot of fun playing with magnetics 🥰
@@KelliMarissa thank you! I’m looking forward to it! So excited!
Idk if this was asked, but should I UV light be used to dry the magnetic polish?
Oh yeah I think a lot of these designs would suit bigger nails way better haha!
Wow - the timing of this video is almost eerie because I just today declared that I AM DONE WITH MAGNETICS
I recently picked up a couple of magnetics in PPU and cannot begin to describe my disappointment between the outcome I got here at home vs. what was in the swatch photos; it almost felt like I got tricked or something (which I don't truly believe the brands in question would stoop to that kind of shady thing, but the difference was that drastic).
Thanks to your tutorial, I will keep trying. I might even check out those non-standard magnet shapes. (That one rando s-curve had me literally )
Fun fact: I'm a little "long in the tooth" compared to you, so I remember the days when it was either calling someone [even before call-waiting & voicemail...I know, shocking that we ever even learned to walk upright back in the day 😋], or flat out just going to see them in person!
Hi, thanks for this video, now I have a better understanding, I need to buy the colored magnetic gel asap to experiment
Glad it was helpful! ❤️
42 years old and gonna try magnetized polish for the first time ❤ wish me luck 🍀
@@meowmeow2634 haha good question, tbh I just bought the cheapest set of neodymium magnets on Amazon - they're rectangular and super strong!!
@KelliMarissa aw thank you, I did buy some of those a bit ago and I still have trouble with the polish so maybe it's just mooncat unfortunately:( I'll try some other brands
Thank you!
Do you have to cure the magnetic nail polish with a led/uv light? Do you do each coat of so?
If it's a gel uv/led polish yes
I love this eye look!
Oh thank you so much!
I bought the nailboo one with a magnet and I need help. Do I use a foundation coat and do i need to use a light?
New to polish & your channel. I am really enjoying your content. Thank you
Welcome to my little corner of the internet! Nail polish is such a great hobby because it doubles as self care :) you're gonna have so much fun with it!!
Lots of great tips! I'll definitely be trying these.
Glad you found it helpful!! 💙
Great Nails 101. Much appreciated.
Thanks for the tips…I have trouble with magnetic polish….will try shaking it. Bought the magnets. Looking forward to playing around with it.
Ooh I hope you get a successful magnetic mani!! ❤️
Thank you! My first magnetic polish is in the mail. I have some super strong magnets that have hooks on them to hang things. They are round, a little larger than a quarter. Do you think this would work for the velvet style?
How does top coat enable your mani to “dry fully”? Kelli mentions this at 8:42
Top coat helps dry the layers underneath! I'm not sure the science of it but that's what it's used for - along with making your mani last :)
@@KelliMarissa so top coat cures the layers underneath! Awesome, thank you Kelli for the quick and helpful response ☺️😍
I needed this video! Thank you si much for sharing! ❤
I followed the steps, exactly, and it worked. But once I put my topcoat on, my cat eye I disappeared, and it looks like regular polish. Any tips on what I did wrong? Do I have to hold a magnet over a topcoat?
Yes I recommend applying the magnet over your top coat while it's wet for an extra 30-60 seconds!
This is SO helpful, thank you so much Kelli!
So glad to hear it 🥰🥰!
So we don't dry our nails between each layer, we dry at the end?
You definitely want to let your polish dry between each layer! I recommend magnetizing the final layer of polish, while it's still wet :)
OMG one squiggly line, LOL!! 😹
This video must have taken you a a while to make and I’m so thankful you took the time to make it.
That squiggle had me CACKLING hahaha, glad you enjoyed the video!! 🥰🥰
Hi🤍!
I was wondering .. is magnetic nail polish normal polish or only gel?
There are magnetic polishes in both formulas! All the colors I'm using in this video are regular polish, but there are also gel magnetics 🥰
Hi! Thanks for the video! Can I ask a question please? Do I have to use a base color under the magnetic nail gel? I was confused why the nail artist asked me to choose a base color. Can’t I just have the base coat + the magnetic nail gel?
Can I get the magnetics in a gel polish?
Yes! There are a few gel brands that do magnetic polishes, the only one I've tried is FUN Lacquer and I was very impressed with them 😄
This is a great video!! Love magnetically but always feel like I never get them quite right.
There's definitely a learning curve but it gets easier!! 😋❤️
Can i use neodymium magnets?
Honestly I'm not sure haha I've never tried!
When top coat is applied after is it ok to use UV dryer?
If you're using regular nail polish, a UV light won't help the polish dry or cure - it just dries by air!
