- The new Maserati MC20 arrived with great fanfare, but let's find out what it's like and whether it lives up to the hype! Join me at Maserati Köln, Jacob's Sportscars for a first drive and run on the Autobahn to experience it in full. What do you think about the MC20?
The Maserati MC20 marks a return to mid-engine sportscars for the Italian marque, coming almost two decades after the MC12; a 50-run homologation special for the FIA GT and GT1 championships where it had great success. However the MC20 is something new, more of a daily GT supercar with an in-house 3.0l TT V6 engine named Nettuno.
I'm in Cologne, Germany at Maserati Köln for a full look at the new MC20, to run through all of the details and head out for a first test drive including a blast on the Autobahn to see what it's like. It's fitted with winter tyres considering the time of year and temperatures, but there's a lot to like about the new Maserati. It has more than enough quirks including the price point relative to other options on the market, but ultimately marks an exciting time for the company with a future EV, hybrid and Spider variant on the horizon too.

Maserati's are honestly some of the most beautiful cars on the road. My favourite has definitely got to be the Granturismo :-D

It’s mad, as you walked round it, I thought oh that’s a bit Ferrari, that’s a bit lotus, that’s a bit Ford but in reality it looks entirely beautiful and unique, which without going mad, is probably no mean feat in what’s such an over saturated market nowadays. Lovely car

It's hard to beat the power to weight ratio- 2.33kg/hp of the MC20. Then add the gorgeous styling Maserati is known for and a mid engine design. This car will definitely help get Maserati back in the exotic car market and I can't wait to see how they perform on track.

Thought the weight looked great on paper, but other RUclips video has it being weighed at 1700kg. That is surprisingly high compared to the claimed weight

Maserati is a Mature Exotic. It doesn’t compete with louder, more gaudy brands. Its a mature alternative, toned down. A gentleman’s car. All the bells and whistles without the immaturity. Nice 👍🏾

Depends where you are, but I agree quite typical of the built up areas of the Rhur ...& in my experience at least is better than over the border in Belgium

I think the best thing about this car is its looks, especially in the different colours. I looks way above it's price point and certainly better than any huracan or mclaren.

The Maserati MC20 reminds me of the 2010 Ferrari 458 not sure why but it definitely has the same features as the 458 does anyone else notice it as well.🤔

When I was in my late 20s I got a Maserati Quattroporte for like 1/4 of MSRP. I loved that car.

For the pricing...look at the 911 turbo. This is about as fast as the 580hp turbo to 60mph but faster to 125mph so it falls between the turbo and the Turbo S. I specced a turbo with limited options to show 271k in the Netherlands. This should be below that price at around 250k in Euro so not that expensive but certainly not cheap either. From the character the 911 turbo seems to be a close competitor too. More GT but also a very fast Supercar... I do love the look of this thing though. No 911 can compete there
your view of this is really stupid. I don't think there are people who would not afford a 300k car but would buy 250k car. It's all preferences, that's all.

@@fohatadri the pricing isn't based on the cost to build but to make a profit. So they try to price it as high as possible within the acceptable range where buyers will not go to the competition. So it's a little bit cheaper than the 911 turbo with some options. And I think that's acceptable.

Personally I think its a stunning car, and looking at how effortlessly and fast it gets a move on for a V6 I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't crap on cars of higher engine capacity and far higher in terms of price. Usually I like Tim's reviews but I feel this one is harsh, truthful, but also a feeling off tiredness and trying to do too much. I appreciate the uploads and the information, but perhaps some well earned rest would give a new car like the Maserati a better chance?
Totally spot on. Tim needs to slow down. I can't keep up with the rushed content and travel, etc. Tbh, it's all so breathless it's turning me off Tim's reviews.
As for the MC20, it's a staggeringly gorgeous car that delivers far above its price point and brand. Okay, maybe upgrade the exhaust if you must but that's a tiny caveat when this brilliant, beautiful vehicle delivers so much. (Yo, Tim, slow down and stop dumping content. Get your rhythm back, dude.)

I know they are not known for reliability..but I've always liked the looks of most Maserati models. This is another gorgeous looking car from the manufacturer. Really like the styling of it. Thanks for the in depth look!✌

Reliability's unfortunate. Other than that though, they actually offer amazing value. More tech and practicality than other exotic brands. Not as sensible as, say, a Merc but has more prestige and beautiful designs, along with sporty driving dynamics.

Whenever Tim uploads a video, I usually just look at the thumbnail and know what car it is gonna be about and I skip reading the title. When I clicked on this video, I was ready to watch a video about the LOTUS EMIRA! It took Schmee to say "Maserati" for me to realise.

I think the MC20 is a beautiful car (especially in black). I also love the upcoming Aston Martin Valhalla. Shmee should order both! In left side drive so they can be enjoyed in 2/3's of the world.
Maserati has been living off of it's badge for quite a while. It's good to see the company start to produce some noteworthy cars again.

This looks like a F8 Tributo and a McLaren GT fused together. Looks good and I'm intrigued for the first time in a long time with Masterati.
With other wheels and a crazy exhaust it would be awesome! But that's another 15-20k up on the price!

🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏🏻👏🏻, It is very good looking car, but very misunderstood at the moment from what I head. A six cylinder not a v8, but with two turbos, must be a quite fast car v6. In black it looks stunning, it’s a super sport car, awesome video Tim as usual, it felt a little unstable at higher gear !

Ah , so this must be the sort of spiritual successor of the Gran Cabrio. It looks just as amazing!! Maserati since the Qporte and Ghibli have been possible the most stylish brand overall. They deserve so much more credit over all the tuned, garage project dross out there.

I like the MC20. The looks are very unique on the exterior. However I feel that the interior is very similar to a Mclaren, let’s say a 720s perhaps.
Mclaren interior is ugly and not well made! This one is gorgeous and way better made

I have to disagree with all your assessments. As an owner of McLaren's and having sat in the MC20, they are not the same at all. The 720S/765LT interior is one of the most beautiful currently out there IMO. The MC20 interior is actually closer in comparison to the 570S but with a unique spin to it. Some aspects like the door shells are a bit more basic looking in the MC20. The center console it's very different and is actually the most confusing part of the car. It looks and feels a bit utilitarian with the screws on the sides, big blue knob, and full carbon fiber, while the rest of the interior is more luxurious. I don't dislike it, it's just different. It does feel a bit more cramped than a 570, but it's not terrible like a Lamborghini Spider anything. The car has a bit of an identity crisis, it's neither full lux nor is it full supercar. It's sort of in the middle but not in a bad way, kind of the best of both worlds without crossing too far in either one. The exterior is stunning in person and screams 'elegant supercar'. I think Maserati did a great job with it, I have yet to drive it though. If I were to make complaints, I would say that the options list is ridiculously skewed and somewhat confusing and expensive. Certain things like CCB's should be standard today on any supercar and they charge extra for it. They nickel and dime you on things like front lift ($4k), an alarm system ($2k), and e-diff ($2300). They are charging $14K for the white paint! I can get an MSO color from McLaren on a 765 for 10K.
@@XennialGuy I agree with you to some extent. My view here is that, my dream car happens to be a Mclaren 720s and I spend a lot of time with cars. I just love them. In my opinion, I think both are a bit minimalistic and could do with a bit more in the interior, but you can’t really complain about that as that is what separates Mclaren from the rest of manufacturers. Maserati have similar interior design aspects to a Mclaren 570s (Like you said) and I can agree with you on this. I just happened to use a 720s as an example. Yes the centre console is a bit confusing on the MC20 and there some similarities between that, the 570s and in my opinion, the 720s. But let that be no down side, the MC20 is beautiful from the exterior and continues to be in many different ways. People have different opinions and are entitled to, but I think something we both can agree on, is how unique it is. It will continue to be even more unique with the further models rolling out.
Being an Alfa/ maserati tech so far from steering wheel to stocks off the week it has a lot of Alfa inspiration
