One thing you should always consider when buying cycling shorts...how easy is it attend to a call of nature. I'm referring to urinating here...not the other. Some shorts do not stretch enough at the front to allow easy access. Always worth checking this before buying.
One of if not my biggest dislike in cycling are cycle wear; too much lycra, ultra tight stuff, I’m not going to wear them, As in ever. I want practical but discreet clothing, warm for winter and cool for summer. they wick away sweat but keep you warm. No labels! If you want me to have your name on what I'm wearing that's advertising so you pay me.
I use CamelinaGold oil on my skin before and after cycling shorts. Directly on the skin and not extra underwear. CamelinaGold oil has skin protective properties that prevent chaffing and saddle soars.. Also,, you really must hand wash your padded shorts after every ride. Bacteria will cause abbesses/boils on chaffed skin. So showing and reapplying CamellnaGold oil is critical if you want to avoid soars.
thank you for the information. i have just bought my 1st cycle. i bought a mtb and really want to get into this sport. did not know that clothing mattered so much, just wish it was not so expensive here in South Africa
I have very often a problem with padding size; After wearing one I feel how too big it is, but on bike I keep forgetting about it- so maybe it is good in the end. On the other hand I have shorts with small padding and those are just too tight for me. In quest's short i have a simple, thin rubber and it keeps sleeve on place nicely- easy, not complicated and working
Hi Shai Bike I didn't know where to ask you the question, but i am having a huge problem i ride a hard tail cross country mtb i watch all your videos. But recently i have upgraded my saddle and I've switched into clipless pedal. Cleats is setup ok i think as i like the setup and also i am not having any pain on knee or down the knee. but after upgrading to both clipless pedal and saddle i went for a 100 km ride and got massive pain on hip its in the front. i did not had any pain in my hip before upgrading my saddle and pedal i have been riding this bike for 1 and a half year and rode about 3000 km with this bike . the hip pain continue when ever i'm riding the bike. My new saddle narrower than my previous saddle, previous saddle was wider. please i need help.
PI places the tag on the left side of their bibs and that thing keeps rubbing my side. I have to adjust it (pull on the bib) every now and then. Very annoying. When are the manufactures come out with a tagless bibs?
No padding on long winter pants for me. I already have several pairs of summer shorts to wear underneath. Easier for wash. The padding may take longer to dry on cold weather, but this way I can just get other pair of dry shorts to wear under.. Though now I dry them mostly inside room, but still.. I can chose ones with least padding, so it dry faster and won't make room too humid. I never thought seriously about matching the pants with saddle.. I think go too far to details. I would not be able to buy anything.. But the first thing I look, is padding. The edge of the padding. How is the seam. and also the position of padding, that it won't be too far at back, or maybe also too far at front or... something. I had a pair of castelli bibs. They were from lower end of price-line-up, made in Hungary. First, they were supper good, but then, after month or so, the edge of padding started to rub at front, where it was crossing the "shaft". I didn't feel any pain while cycling, but then, when I went to shower after ride, it was stinging pretty bad. I think the front part of padding actually should not cross there where it was crossing. That padding wasn't on correct position for me. It was too much at rear. The thick part wasn't under seat bones it was more aft.. and the front part well.. It should have been covering more I think. Maybe that was why they started to rub bad way, the edge wasn't where it was supposed. With wide tires I feel very comfortable with thin worn out almost non existing padding too. But with narrower tires, I guess the padding does help on rough road a little.. But thick padding itself may be not too comfortable. So wide tires thin padding is good for comfort.
"The thick part wasn't under seat bones it was more aft.. and the front part well.. It should have been covering more I think." No the shorts were made to spec, the problem was because you've got an unusually long "shaft". Try cutting that down to size and then see how well those bike shorts fit you. Just a crazy bike-short hack you could try.
The mistake you are making is to forget why you are buying cycling shorts: because you have negative pressure points that are hurting you. Not just discomfort but real urological and neurological damage. Why not just take away the cause rather than treat the symptoms? @t
why not get a paddled seat and wear any pants.or shorts, wouldn't be easier and the same? i.think most of.this is.marketing propaganda to sell.bike accessories, I even seen beggy shorts for mountain bike---is it really necessary guys? or.only for the pros who.ride miles., day after day-don't.get brain wash people

Nice info about winter pants with no padding.
Can you provide me the link, where I can buy that Merida bib short.
Will you make a video on how to take care of the lyrcra ? As in how to wash and dry without damaging the lycra or padding.

It's more comfortable as there is less rubbing irritation as it is smoother.
i lost all interest in this channel after the name change and selling of caad10.
Then wait til my next shipping boxes arrive... :)
Modern Medicine pussy
wtfcssource lol, your mom was pretty tight and stiff just like a cannondale frame.
Modern Medicine if you didn't ride your mom so aggressively, she'd be still stiff to.
