Stopped at some traffic lights and a guy told me it was time for some new shorts, he said it was like riding behind two bald blokes having a fight in a sack!
When I wash my cycling shorts in the machine I use a mesh laundry bag. The bag is made to protect delicate items and this helps avoid the shoulder straps from getting tangled up with other garments.
When on multi-day rides, I hand-wash my shorts and jersey with a dab of hand-wash-specific detergent at every daily stop, then I hang them up to dry with a couple of clothes-pins. That gives me a chance to also inspect them.
Had a pair of bib shorts that went a bit see through once...... a passing van driver pointed out the fact I needed a new pair of shorts! Think he enjoyed the view though.
I remember doing a group ride where this female cyclist butt crack was showing through her shorts. Talk about a turn off. But how do you tell a woman who you don't know that it's time to invest in some new bibs?
Rapha bib short fabric wear out too easily for my taste. My Assos bibs have 7 years and maybe 200k miles on them with very minimal degradation to the pad and fabric elasticity. Rapha winter jerseys and hats, on the other hand, are the best.
you should never wash cicling cloads in the washing machine, it will ruin them. I don't care if the manufater says so, they want you to buy new ones sooner. Just don't, wash them by hand with neutral detergent

Good bib short information, I enjoyed it.
Got a pair of cargo bibs off Amazon for 35$ and it's probably my favorite for rides under 30 miles.
When the Lycra starts to "Crackle" when I pull them on its time to start shopping!

Agree. My two Rapha Bibs wear out at 2-6K kilometers.
Great info mate!
Pearl Izumi. The best longest lasting shorts I've ever owned. Comfortable and durable. Also I hand wash after EVERY ride!
Great video thanks!
When is it time for cleaning the washing machine?
The pad never wears out? Really?

That washing machine itself needs a wash.
Good grief.
Every old guy in team replica kit
