@@irislumina7285 that's not the issue, the problem is that the company has been doing this for years, and time and time again, they mismanaged all of their members, so instead of focusing on the rest of the members, they just contract more to replace those who left, and if you saw the video it's more evident thata the constant members changing mermates their popularity extremely, so it's not about the new member, it's about how the company has being doing this for almost 10 years, and they get away with it.
It so sad and weird to see how the company treats blackswan...the girls can literally say anything which is great so they have been very supportive of the LGBT community and their mangers are very friendly and joke around with them on camera a lot. You are right. But it did not work. It did bring some attention, but it did NOT bring in money. Matter of fact, they lost the money. Remember that the Koreans are the main consumers, not international fans who rarely buy Rania products. The Koreans did not like Alex nor Rania's music.

yeah everything about DR music is terrible. and how they seek to exploit black people makes my blood boil. sidenote, on hyeme's scandal I believe the man wasn't her friend per se, he was just a guy that watched her afreeca TV lives and offered to pay for her expenses. at one point she says he was getting creepy so she cut him off. this is all alleged and going off of hyeme's account of the issue. either way, DR music said hyeme had planned on leaving from the beginning which like....???? boggles the mind.
Definitely agree with the first part because I’m not too familiar about the other situation. I think that they are similar to SM whereas SM exploits Chinese artists just for money and DR. Music is doing the same thing here. They see that there’s a lot of black KPOP fans and they are trying to break into the western scene and are using black members by doing so. It’s very sad to say the least because in the end the black members always seem to go through a lot of bs.
I feel like Fatou is going to end up leaving this gives me Rania vibes all over again like WTF they have so much potential their company should really put focus on them they could be the next big thing you never know !!!
I doubt they receive any substantial bugdet to get anything done properly. Plus, if the company is shady I doubt anybody would want to lend them anything.
Honestly it seems like this group is just looking for a literal token black person to be “unique” and stick out from other groups. They’re not even looking for a human based on talent and beauty, its literally just the race. The “exoticness” of being black in KR. Its odd and ignorant in my opinion.
If you watch their live streams I love how youngheun isn't afraid of calling out their CEO so many times like, at this point she should start her own company and manage the group herself. Fatou even said that she was good in winning arguments. No wonder she's the leader.
I like to think that if Fatou had done some research into the company, she could’ve been spared. Or maybe she did research them, and just felt confident things would be different this time. But from the perspective of anyone who was aware of RaNia and what Alex had to say about her experience, it’s so clear that they’re using “having a black member” as their gimmick. I don’t need to explain why that’s completely fucked.
Perhaps Fatou felt as though the only way to get her step into the kpop industry was through this company? It's so unfortunate for the girls... years of training going to waste. I have a feeling the company just used Fatou as a chess piece to get more international views, especially the west.

Once again, SM shows that you need to go into a group with things being intentional. Red Velvet = They were always intended to have changing concepts with every comeback. A lot of groups have tried it. But since they weren’t supposed to, it came off as rushed and unplanned. NCT = A continuously changing line up amongst subunits. Probably after EXO lost three members, SM planned to have a group where they were granted the flexibility of being able to switch around the members and subunits as needed.
SM is also still shady but at least they know how to actually manage and market groups, which really is the least the ones who trained deserve but GEEZ DR is fucking terrible. I feel so bad for the girls.
Yes , SM the best , specially when they force cringy rap to their songs just to be "trendy " lol give me a break , all the cringy stuff in the industry came from SM lol.
Man I was watching a video about Alex and how she had to do her own hair and everything, it must have been so frustrating for her. and the fact they treated her as a toy and not an actual person disgusts me. I hope fatou is treated well though!
I don’t understand why they don’t just keep the girls at 4, like seriously, it makes 0 sense and they are doing the EXACT same as before, it’s like they haven’t at all acknowledged what they are doing wrong.
Apparently it's harder to get bigger as a 4 member group since what's lacking in numbers the members have to make up for in charisma. I think the company doesn't trust them to deliver the charisma needed for a 4 member group. I'm just guessing, so don't quote me on any of this. I personally believe BS would be perfectly fine as is, but this video makes it very clear that Dr Music doesn't make good decisions
crazy how kpop stylists know how to do braids, cornrows, locs, etc on non black idols but as soon as its a black idol they don't know how to do black hair at all
Well but technically Blackswan kinda has no ties to Rania, right? It's pretty much an entire new group. If this group doesn't succeed, it is absolutely because of the company. I would love to see them succeed...
That's exactly the problem with the company, they should have debuted them as an entirely new group with absolutely no ties to Rania. Blackswan is Raina Rebranded when instead they should have just gave the girls a complete fresh new start, with completely new music too minuses the whole good bye Rania.
I'm honestly asking why would they allow foreign girls to audition if they weren't going to give them a translator, like how do they expect them to interact in Korea without knowing the language 👁️👄👁️
The thing I don't get is how the girls of Blackswan managed to all sign contracts when the behaviour of the company is very public knowledge. I understand wanting to achieve your dreams but the pattern for Dr Music has been the same since its conception, why would anyone think they would be different. And the fact that they're auditioning new members tells me that 1) they do not have trainees to use 2) possibly hoping that foreigners would audition so the group can get more publicity Who the hell tells someone they basically don't need a talent to join an international kpop group. It sounds VERY desperate to me. Like this is the end of the line for not only the group but the company

If the company’s goal was truly to promote diversity, then they’re doing it terribly or they’re fooling themselves and I understand why Alexandra felt like she was used for publicity only cuz they basically did. Dude, they didn’t even bother to teach her KOREAN before debut??? The BASIC NECESSITY while working in KOREA???
I feel like Blackswan could be doing good if their company put more effort into their music but they don't pay attention to what the audience usually listens to and their choreography seems a little cookie cutter to me they could've done so much with that but they left it bland and unseasoned and their outfits didn't do them much justice either man this comeback I expected so much but got so little

The “black Pearl” name change made me mad and it reminded me of when SNSD all had nicknames ie Jessica being the “ice princess” Taeyeon being then”Kid Leader” well guess what Yuri was “the black Pearl” why? Because she was at the time naturally tan and dark and they just laughed about it like it was nothing.
I always thought "black pearl" sounded sexy, lmao. Even today I think it sounds good, but since I'm not black and I don't hear it often, may I get the context? As in, why is it so disgusting?
“You don’t have to be good at singing or dancing or rapping to be in blackswan” “I’m looking for someone who is good at dancing” “I’m looking for someone who has the potential to be a great performer” “Im looking for someone who is good at singing” Clearly 3 of 4 members want someone who is talented because being an idol means you clearly have the talent or the potential to be a great performer or you’re already a great performer. I’m sorry but charisma does not equal talent
Charisma is necessary for the stage. It is the power to attract people's attention and keep their eyes on you. You can have all the talent in the world and still be boring to watch.
@@cheshirenevande4701 Yeah like you cna be average at dancing or something and perform the most boring choreography ever and still have it come off as being an amazing performance because of the confidence and charisma you incorporate into the dance. Ideally it would be a mix of both being good at dancing and havign great charisma. Even the most spectacular choreogrpahy performed lazily and un confidently will be boring.
Charisma is still vital though. Anyone can train or learn to sing, dance, and even rap. But if you’ve got no charisma as an idol... the performances are gonna be lackluster. There are some popular groups out there that have talent, but a lot people say they’ve got no stage presence... 💀
Say what you want about the big 3 labels + Hybe, but they sure know how to run this business. And that is way they succeeded with their groups and are the biggest companies now.
THAT'S WHAT I WAS THINKING, I know the CEO is a producer, he did a LOT of bops in the past but nowadays he isn't working as a producer! Also, RaNia didn't go well in sales and BlackSwan just sold like 70 albums so... it's something shady
Most of them are upfront about the company's incompetence/negligence. Namphan was upfront about the fact that she had to travel back and forth from Thailand to South Korea on her own dime because they wouldn't give her a work visa. She got fed up with losing all of the money she made and being poorer than she would have been without the job thanks to those constant flights that she just stayed in Thailand one day and never came back. I'm going to assume this happened to every other non-Korean member who needed a work visa and was left holding the basket.
Both Alex and Fatou (were and are) publicity stunts... how you add an American to the group and not even show effort to include her fully in songs or not have the decency to hire a translator for her?! Or a decent hair and make up artist?! It’s sad because Rania or BP Rania or Black Swan could have or could be huge if Dr Music wasn’t such fuck ups only caring about profit
They should've organised for Alexandra to get Korean lessons so she would've had a chance to fend for herself but I can't help but wonder if they didn't so she'd be completely under the company's thumb...
Honestly this group never stood out for me. Saw someone on tik tok promoting them for having a black member so i checked that out. But the songs they had at the time weren't good. And not even on streaming services so they didn't seem like a serious group for me. Other then that i never heard anyone talk about them. Until the scandals, that I feel were PR stunts.
They’re literally a repackaged Rania and they’re going down the same route they did It makes me so mad how poorly this company handles their artists. I hope I’m wrong and when they do get their 5th member, they have a successful comeback..
at this point, I don't even know what the company is doing. The girls should just all leave the company and find one that promotes them well. I hope the best for them as well.
rania had so much potential if only they had better management.. i could see them being big considering they had quite alot of dedicated fans and people interested with them at the time
The girls totally denounced the lack of care of the company in Edward Avila's video with them. They could swear and there would be no manager around to make them "behave" like for some other groups. They were VERY critical of the company and that just didn't sit right with me.
i love blackswan and i really want them to thrive but i don’t like their label at all!! i am hoping they have a comeback soon but every time they say there’s one it’s “just coming soon”. they’ve been saying that for months :/ idk i hope the best for these talented beauties
Apparently the music has been recorded, and it's a hip hop style song, but the girls have been promising for months I feel so sorry for them, they're genuinely sweet people
It’s been so so song since I’ve seen a group performing 7:45 looking so miserable and disconnected from each other on stage. I can’t imagine how difficult all this bs happening behind the scenes for every girl who has come through this group and company. Just reminds you that most companies have a habit of doing their traineees and even idols so wrong
i remember watching a demonstrate stage and being so excited to see alex only for her to be treated like a prop and have like 30 seconds of actually being on stage. while i'm not really hopeful that dr music is going to give blackswan what they deserve, it was nice to see fatou be on stage the whole time, which is so bare minimum and really shows how low the bar is for this company :///

That's exactly the problem with the company, they should have debuted them as an entirely new group with absolutely no ties to Rania.
And the fact that they're auditioning new members tells me that
1) they do not have trainees to use
2) possibly hoping that foreigners would audition so the group can get more publicity

@Mommies milk oh my god 😂 thank you.
New member !
The history repeats itself
Alexandra’s interview/vlog with Grazy Grace was pretty insightful on her experience on Rania and in the kpop industry in general
I got to meet Alex at the kcon preimere watch party in LA last May and she was super sweet and overall an amazing human being. Hearing about why she left and her experience as a member of rania is so heart breaking. She seems to be living her best life now which is a relief. Her and Fatou deserve so much love and happiness.
welp this aged even more worse…
Gurl i was waiting for to say something love you sis
Dr music should stop trying to do groups when they fail this badly
I love how Doctor Music is using the black members to promote the company but still ends up whitewashing them.
Trying to write down all the members who joined and left and came back is like drawing a (very sad) Christmas wreath
The sad part is that Black Swan is just a rebranded RaNia, which was really just a rebranded Baby Vox Rev, which was really just a rebranded Baby Vox. As such, Black Swan is just Baby Vox 4.
im so worried about them (especially fatou) as a lumina (fandom name) i really hope they get freed from this disgusting company. i knew their backstory but i didn’t know much about the company i hope they can sign under a new label or even maybe a more popular one :(
Ploopy has an amazing series of this groups history.
You did a fantastic job. ^^
RaNia 2.0 ... That's why I'll never stan blackswan ... I've '' suffered'' too much with RaNia and I don't want to relive the same thing...
Oh no :( I really hope this doesn't hinder their growth
I really don’t think Hyeme should have left if it was of her own accord or because of the company. The whole situation looked like a disappointed sugar daddy wanting to get his money back like... it was a mess. But I don’t think that it was bad enough to make it that someone should have left the group when they were just getting back on their feet.
He was a fan and she was his bias - that's an uneven power dynamic. She deceived him and scammed him for money... She absolutely deserved to be kicked out.
@@imbabey she was not kicked out. Her contract was supposed to end a month after or so. The situation just rushed her departure. The question is rather why dr would let her debut with blackswan if they knew she was going to leave (ps she didn't scam the guy)
@@imbabey Hyeme didn't scam anyone out of anything. The man who accused her of scamming him was some weirdo who frequently donated on her Afreeca TV streams and got upset when she wouldn't do s*x**l favours for him in return. She never asked him for the money, and cut him off after he started becoming more obsessive.
People said that having a black member in a K-pop group would be cultural appropriation? Cultural appropriation of what? A black woman singing r&b/pop/rap? lol. SMH.
LMAO even Teddy Riley himself can't handle this company messy and dirty deals 💀
wow i never knew the convoluted history behind rania/black swan until now. great vid can’t wait to see more content from u! 🤍
it's so sad because these girls are actually good singers, dancers, they all seem so sweet and close w one another and they clearly care about their fans a lot but they are not having a stable career :(( i wish the whole group would sign with another company or something. no matter what happens, it's an honor being a lumina for however long it lasts :))
Thank you for the thorough research
