"anti-drop" is a term that can be used to describe choruses that sound empty, it was sorta coined by charlie puth and i think it encapsulates how these types of choruses feel

Stay Tonight is a masterpiece that deserves more attention. It’s one of the best, highly conceptual and refreshing songs in Kpop I’ve heard in a long time. It’s Chung Ha’s best work no doubt.

and whats really cool is: the first chorus hits hard because of the anti-drop (as explained in the video), but the second time around, the just skip the chorus entirely and go straight to Marks rappart from the buildup. For me Oh my god by (G)I-DLE is a concrete example of antidrop, from 16th counts to 4 counts in beat, solid bass hit, and solid vocals, it is the finest antidrop.

Especially Yuqi being one of my biases, she has such a rich, deep and unique voice that makes the prechorus super addicting and I love the dance at her part there. Shuhua was right, Yuqi's dance part there is the killing point of the dance/song.

yesss anti-drops are so satisfying and great to play with because they leave so much room to keep building up the song.
You can have a classy and smooth anti-drop like got7’s or a powerful anti-drop like gidle’s or (and this is my personal favorite) you can start with the anti-drop and then have an actual drop or buildup within the same chorus like you explained which also happens in cix’s jungle, golden child’s without you (this song just makes incredible use of a minimalistic instrumental) or hoshi’s spider. ITS JUST SO SATISFYING.

The anti-drops just hit different- it’s like a beat drop but it has more of a vibe in it that u just wanna dancing slowly and smoothly to it or u could just head bop but there’s many ways that people dance to anti-drops! But those I write are just the ones I usually do. I never knew what anti-drops were before watching this video so thank you for helping me learn a new word! Since English is not my first language but I’m still learning in school. But anyways as I said, they just hit different idk it just has that feeling that feels so good 😂👏 (oh gosh I talk too much sorry- LMAO)
The thing about creating choreos to antidrops in songs is that you don't need a hard and fast paced song. What actually matters is the beats because they make good counts to hit in your choreo. If there's no counting beat in your song, then it's harder to create a choreo that has pops and locks in it for example, unless you make it all fluid.

What most people don't realise other than people who study music. Pentagon-Shine is also an anti drop in a sense. They hype it and they drop everything but it doesn't sound like one cause their vocals carry the hype and makes it sound smooth

The same with Energetic. Their vocals is the one who carry the anti drop that make it feel like normal drop. And energetic also composed by Hui pentagon too. Hui really know how to do produce good songs. Anti drops can make the song bops if they know how to play with it. For example Move by Taemin. The Choreo carry the anti drop. While Shine and Energetic's anti drop compliment by their powerful vocal.

This genuinely sounds more interesting than the regular drop. It makes the song cooler, because it's sort of unexpectedly, and different. need to update this with Izone’s La Vie En Rose. That is one of the mothers of all anti drop. The contrast with such a climatic prechorus (Queen Eunbi epic slayage) and the anti drop chorus made the song quite polarizing to even some of the wizards out there. I’m not a wizard but that sure is still my fav song of them
