This 5x15 Pearl Sensitone Mahogany is a great drum for when you need a dry, dark, punchy snare with quick response. I use this drum often in light acoustic tracks, Americana, rootsy country, etc. It's a great alternative to vintage drums, which are often hard to tune and have unreliable hardware.

Thanks for checking out our 15x5 SensiTone Premium Mahogany snare drum...
Pearl Drums it’s a fantastic drum! 🥁
Geeze what does it sound like without a whole role of tape on it?
Doesn’t matter because this is how I use it. 😬
You should run this against the Pearl Wood/Fiberglass 6.5x15
You got one you could let me "borrow"? ;)
Thinking about grabbing one of these. Buuuut, was wondering if you knew anything about the Ludwig Black Magic 5x15 brass snare. Trying to decide between the two but the Ludwig is really hard to find.
Logan Lamons I actually have that 5x15 Black Magic. It’s a really nice drum, but it’s not as rich, warm and fluffy as this mahogany. It’s more vibrant like a 5x14 black beauty but with a lower fundamental tone.
Mike Dawson that is sooo helpful! I played the Ludwig at Forks in Nashville and loved it and figured I could doctor it a little to make it a little warmer. Seems like the Pearl is exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks man!!!
Another great snare! If you don't mind me asking, what is that crash on your left?
that's a 17" Turkish Travel Set crash.
Thank you. I normally don't care for "nice and glassy" crashes, but that was a beautiful sound.
It's pretty special, for sure.
I love the sensitone series; do you have any snares without tape/muting?
tons. But most often when I'm recording, folks want a more controlled sound.
Does your recording commission/revenue fund equipment and allow you to buy new gear?
I'm always reinvesting a bit of money back into my studio and drum collection. It's taken a long time though. I bought my first high-end drumset in 1997.
