- Many phone apps can collect all kinds of personal information to serve targeted ads. NBC News’ Jake Ward explains how a privacy group recently discovered that dozens of law enforcement agencies across the country have been buying that data in a piece of software called “fog reveal” which gives them the power to track the movements of 250 million Americans.

People think I'm crazy but this is exactly why I don't have a cell phone

They all access this data without a warrant. But if they see criminal activity which they suspected, they will manipulate other data to obtain a warrant. Edward told us all of this 11 years ago.
This is fantastic! The WEF can monitor us 24/7 and make sure we aren’t out of line.
😂🤣🥳 welcome to 1984
Android users can disable the sensors (GPS, gyroscope, accelerometer etc.) on their phone via a quick access button that can be initialized in the developer options menu (tap the android build number seven times to add the developer options menu to settings); the sensors can then be disabled and enabled with a tap on the quick access button, just like the flashlight...at least until the next OS update which will reset any changes made in developer options and hide the menu again. Using this developer option will also disable your mic and camera, so you will have to decline incoming calls, tap the sensors button and call whomever back or whenever you want to take pics or video.
There are a bunch of 'how-to' videos, search 'turn off android sensors'.
You can root an android and have that gps say you are wherever you want it to, but gps is not the only location data your phone transmit. Cell tower. WiFi. Stuff like that.
That doesnt matter, if u dont have gps enabled, then guess what, every cell tower ur phone connects to, saves the information about u connecting to it, and if that's not enough, then u also have things like WIFI AP's, anyways, there's no way for u to know if the gps is really disabled, it might show up as disabled, but it doesnt have to be disabled.
@@artondzn8463it’s almost like the tech industry, in order to remain in the government’s good graces, built the systems with these vulnerabilities. Or at the very least didn’t change anything to fix them to avoid the ire of the man.

@@punapeter ok I'll spell it out for the slow kids...it's a work around. Buy adding a unregulated middle man it falls in business. Won't be worried about or see oversight for another 10 years. So now NSA can use the same middle man to violate 4th amendment rights. And use what they collect while holding back evidence needed to prove you innocent collected in that same information. Leading to an unlawful conviction. No warrant needed. No judge or evidence required...and now that's legal.

What’s the point? The criminals that are caught are released anyway with little to no punishment. This is just another tool to be used against those not in power at any given time.

"fog reveal"
Wow against the Law
America needs its equivalent to GDPR.
They don't reveal it to police until the receive a subpoena. Then your advert ID becomes a Name, SSN, address, and DOB.
0:11 Don’t be in denial. He said that the company purchases the data without any subpoena or legal need and then uses the data to track everyone and anyone. Needs a federal law saying that selling customer data is illegal without the permission of the person who’s data is being sold. Needs a HUGE fine for non-compliance seeing how invasive and violating the practice is.

It's not an invasion of my privacy if they're trying to get a killer next door. If I can get my bicycle back when it's stolen. If you want a camera for your bedroom you can buy one and plenty of people are. Caught on camera. Perhaps caught by police. Endless drug dealing next door. Catching all of the 67 people that bashed and grabbed the department store. Drones replacing fireworks on New Year's, turning Russian tanks into Jack in the boxes. Artificial intelligence. There are not enough police in the police that are there need to boost their efficiency and clean up the streets and neighborhoods of terror. Guaranteed results. It's not going away, instead it's getting better every day at detecting crime and criminals while they work. President Reagan's trust and verify it's finally becoming reality really. Your location is NOT your most intimate personal information. Don't be a criminal and this won't be a problem. You can't be surprised at this. Don't get me wrong. Of course this has potential to be misused, but can also be very helpful to the people trying to protect your community.
I used to think that unfortunately some police don't know or follow the law.
Picture this for a moment. A criminal shares the same driving pattern as you. May eat in the same place as you etc, but you the law abiding citizen, do not stand around a bank to rob it. But you work next to said bank. A robber, shares the same pattern, but based on how much more time you spend next to the bank, they identify you as the robber. You then get arrested.
I know I am simplifying the process quite a bit, but in this scenario how would that make you feel?
Our communities have been, and can continue to be protected without invasive maneuvers and legal loophole tech. Stop the bull shhh
