As a Steelers fan for their entire history I am so proud of what they are achieving in this years CHL. Last season they were outstanding in the EIHL in their grand slam campaign, and managing to keep the vast majority of that team together has played a huge part in this success. The game in the UK has been progressing so well over the past decade or so, with the national team managing to stay up in group A a few years ago and Liam Kirk making the NHL draft (another Steelers success story), with the Panthers and now Steelers making an impact on the European stage, the future looks very bright for UK hockey. I just wish that the EIHL could sort out a TV deal so that more people in the UK could be exposed to this amazing sport and really competitive league that the EIHL is.

American hockey fan here (go Blues). I admire your passion for European hockey, and appreciate you covering it here.
I've always been interested in hockey being played in places where the sport is less popular, so seeing a UK team doing this well in the CHL is really cool to me. I hope they make the playoffs, and thank you for bringing it to our attention. Hope to see more videos on hockey in Europe, and maybe beyond Europe...

I grew up in America, lived in Germany for 8 years, and now live in the UK. I’ve been to games from the major leagues in all three countries. While I’m surprised by how well Bremerhaven are doing, Sheffield are the shock of the tournament. They are the clear best team in Britain, but going blow for blow with SHL and NL teams is nothing short of magical.

Im only loosely following the CHL, mostly game results and news from my hometown team, but with Sheffield results in those first few games I still had to think of this channel. I was wondering if you’d talk about it and now here we are! Sheffield definitely deserve the love and attention, so keep spreading the word! And hey, I wouldn’t say no to a Sheffield - Berlin final 😉

Only seeing this now but as a giants fan I am actually quite proud of the steelers, they may be well gone from the CHL now but they made it further than any other eihl team. And that’s coming from a giants fan

I was at the game against Sparta, the way the Steelers came out just shocked them. I mean there were bus legs for the first two goals, but then the game had already gotten away from Sparta so much they couldn't get back into it.
In terms of the team, last years group ended up dominating the competition over the season and it looks like they have carried it over into this one. They have the belief now, so have every chance of progressing into the next phase and taking out a few other of Europe's elite.

it's amazing to see a team from the EIHL team breaking records, beating some of the best in Europe and honestly elevating the league around Europe which is absolutely brilliant. It's something that I've wanted to see because it can help our league grow more and more and that's always going to be a good thing.
but man... it just had to be fucking Sheffield didn't it...

I hate to be a party pooper here. As a Norwegian hockey fan, I love Britain and British hockey, unfortunately Nottinghams performance was a lot more impressive. They had at atleast 7+ Britts in the roster (more if you count players that changed citizenship). This Sheffield Steelers team only has Cole Shudra, Brandon Whistle and Robert Dowd.
The rest are Canadians and Finnish players. Robert Dowd is playing fairly well though, unfortunatly he is the only Britt making an impact on the team. I wish more British players were playing CHL matches. Either way, if Sheffield's performances is hyping up the game in GB, we might see further improvements. However I hope we will see less imports in the future.

so im from sheffield, broughton lane long before the arena was there ny old school waws for many years the old building at the roundabout in the steelers car park.
the steelers have to do a few things to beat Zurich, i know this be i live near Biel Bienne and work for EP stats and watched 80 ish games a season nation wide.
forecheck HARD, get in there faces, wind up the NA players but dont fight, drive the net HARD.
Zurich think they are the cream of the teams and for them its all about prestige
if i recover from my shoulder Operation joint replacement enough to drive i WILL be at the game with my son supporting the boys in Orange

hang on a minute, sure the Steelers are doing well in the CHL so far this season but making History??? (Are you kidding me??), Maybe Club History but NOT UK Ice Hockey History.
    I would like to point out that the Nottingham Panthers already made history by flying the UK and Panthers flag all across Europe and back by doing the following;
    1. Winning a European Competition (Continental Cup - 16/17 season)
    2. first EIHL Team to play in the CHL
    3. First EIHL Team to win AWAY in the CHL
    4. First EIHL Team to win 3 CHL games - (Bern, Mountfield and Turko)
    5. First EIHL Team to make the Play-off rounds in the CHL.
Yes admitted Sheffield are doing well so far this season as they have kept 85-90% of coaching and playing squad back which is the foundations for any team to have but they will be facing much stiffer competition to come in the next few weeks and until they get to at least the last 8 Sheffield will always be in the shadow of the panthers.
So making Team History yes but making History is understatement as the Nottingham Panthers have already been there and done it loudly and proudly.
Best of luck for the rest of the competition Steelers you'll need it

@@davidharrison4632 Tony Smith stepped down from his position, and does not own the league - which you'd know if you'd care to look. He owns as much as the other team owners. To be the first EIHL team to play in the CHL is pure straw grasping - the CHL formed in 2014/15 and you won the league in 13/14. It was pure happenstance.
No one ever discredits the Panthers for that they did, but to defeat the previous SHL champions, CHL runners up and be the first EIHL team to win in Sweden is massive, whether you want to give them credit or not.

@@TheRandiestMexican you're right he did step down but he was Chairman of the League at one point in time.
You know, I do give the Steelers credit as it is some achievement like you rightfully said above. Heck I've said in the past that no matter what jersey we wear we should support each other while in Europe and yes I do believe that Steelers have been the best team the past few seasons and I honestly do wish them luck but the true test imo is to come. And in hindsight I think the title of the video just got to me as a proud Autistic Panthers fan. I do hope that in the future a UK team could win the CHL which would be amazing to see.
