    I just produced my first clutch. Pretty simple genes. Super pastel yellow belly male, enchi yellow belly female. Got two ivory pastel enchis. They are just coming out of the eggs. And I just purchased my first investment snake. Banana acid wookie. I really appreciate this video as a new guy in the business. I have a great local pet store to sell to, they take great care of their animals. They have told me anything i bring in they will buy. I know the price I get there will be lower than a show, but I think it's a good way to get a name for myself started.

      @@LeviathanSnakes I got a female redstripe spotnose clown 50% het pied. She has a ringer on her. I'm hoping she'll prove out. I may send in a shed test to find out for sure. Also picked up a male spotnose clown before prices started dropping. He may not be considered invesment level anymore. 🤷‍♂️

    Great video the way that you explain things make your videos easy to watch. I do a 50/50 blend myself I feel that if you do both you will reach more potential customers. I've always say that if I can find 3 people as dumb as me I should have no problems selling because I never had a problem buying... Thanks again for the advice.

    This vid has me written all over it! Last year I bred pet level animals, this year is still pet level (but better than last year). But, I think I need to get good at id'ing genes down before making 5 gene animals. Once a few of my ladies drop eggs I'll be selling them to purchase 1 mid level animal.

      We actually need to update our gear description as this was actually shot on a Canon R7 and while we still use the Lav mic from the wireless system we actually added in an audio preamp to help out with the tone. If you send us a message on IG I can dm you links to all the stuff we use

    Love the tips! You got the nail on the head with wanting to do higher end while having kids and full time career as well! Do you think establishing a name, website, and documenting/posting pictures of the babies i get and the reputable breeder they came from would be enough to combat the lack of trust that comes with being the"new guy"?
    I'm really interested in the high intensity orange dream project but also axanthic as well.
    Are the shed tests enough if provided to make you secure feeling buying a quality animal from the new guy?

    • @LeviathanSnakes
      @LeviathanSnakes  Год назад +1

      Thank you so much for watching!
      Personally, I would do everything you said but on social media too. The shed tests are awesome tools, but when it comes to trust it is more about trusting that the person isn’t going to scam you and never send you the snake. The only real way to combat that is to sell in person or to have enough of an online presence that someone can do research on you.

      @LeviathanSnakes ok 👍, thank you! I was thinking it was more being worried if something may or may not actually be a super or if a gene is actually in there even if it might be masked.

    Great video as always guys! I agree with the higher end side of things being more viable if you want to do this full time. I plan on having some pet quality snakes to start with especially since i have some people locally already eager for my first clutch but my goal is to definitely make higher end stuff and do this as much as possible, already planning and acting on those plans for the future.

    Love the videos! Very useful for newbie breeders like me.
    Question: How much of a good idea is it to sell babies wholesale to local mom and pop shops? My local pet store is interested in my albino piebald babies but for only half of what I would get retail.
    Thanks for your info

    • @LeviathanSnakes
      @LeviathanSnakes  Год назад +2

      This is an awesome question and thank you so much for watching!
      I think establishing a wholesale relationship with a local pet store is a great opportunity for any breeder. I think if they are willing to buy 5+ animals at once (especially if they are lower-end animals like normals) wholesale for 50% of retail value is solid if you don’t have a good way to sell the animal yourself. If they are willing to buy your albino pieds but not your normals, it might not be the best wholesale relationship since you will likely have an easier time selling your best animals than your lowest end animals.

    What if you buy a $600 animal but sell the babies for $400? Would that be a good way to get your name out there fast?

    • @LeviathanSnakes
      @LeviathanSnakes  8 месяцев назад

      Awesome question! I think that kind of price drop is normal from when someone buys hatchling until that hatchling is old enough to reproduce, but I think people should try to get their name out much earlier than that. IMO people should start marketing themselves as soon as the decide that they want to breed and not wait until they have babies available
