This is a very valuable marketing conversation that should be taken seriously. This is a marketing master class and you get to be a fly on the wall with 2 of the best.
Holy smoke show, thanks so much for putting this out. It's such a big help to hear different perspectives about this industry. As a new breeder waiting on the first couple of clutches, this right here was a very welcome reminder of why it's worth every minute. Even the constant tub cleaning 😂
Awesome video as always! Definitely appreciate the time you put forth to help those getting started and offering tips and examples of what to do and not do. Thanks for being willing to share! Definitely an encouragement.
I thank you both for this information... as a younger breeder, I relate to the intimidation that can be associated with exposing yourself to the industry. But this discussion, I believe, teaches us 1st, 3rd, and 5th year breeders that we can take what we believe to be our disadvantage and turn them into strengths that builds our brand! Thank you both!
Wonderful job with great insight on these metrics, I think you both said some valuable lessons learned and Justin is absolutely correct about the limitations of being able to scale the same quality that you have started with.
Thank you both for doing this. I am currently about to start a small family breeding business/Hobby. While our main focus is solely to create animals that we believe to be beautiful, we also need them to be able to some what help support the venture. Again thank you so much.
Steven, That was a great video. It's amazing how much insight Justin really has. In my opinion social media is the easiest way to get recognition. Keep up the great work bud.
My first expo 1 sale paid for my table luckily i live in the same city second expo 6 snakes sales and hired for 2 rack builds keep in the rotation people will see and remember you from last time talk to people make friends
I love the advice at the end about not being afraid to look inexperienced and to just document your personal journey as you learn and grow. Sometimes I've felt self-conscious about the fact that I haven't had previous experience keeping my favorite type of animal (snakes) until recently, but on the other hand it's really cool and exciting that I'll be able to document this whole process from the very start. I'm more interested in doing education (eventually hoping to do in-person shows) and don't really intend on breeding ever, but I think the same principle applies in terms of building an audience by bringing them along with you on your learning process.
I'm working on the Huffman ball-pythons lol Orange dream and the Calicos! I had breed him to my pied girl, and my vip axanthic girl, along with my firefly girl. This will be INTERESTEDING!😮❤😮
This was an excellent video, fantastic and valuable information! Love this chat is was great! I especially love the comments regarding championing the project and all that comes with
Legible applies to reading/writing. I think you mean audible. You don't need to drive to my house to debate that. Jk, you can totally come over to debate, but a phone call will also suffice. Great video as always! 👏
Props for not putting Justin in the thumbnail with the title “CALLED OUT BY JUSTIN KOBYLKA!!! 😡😡😡” There’s no shame in switching it to that in a week or two to boost the views though lol
WRONG. Even if the shows dont bring in sales for new people on the scene, it creates the opportunity for those vital connections. Access to these big shows for all is IMPORTANT!!!
I think Justin was saying that there are multiple ways to be successful and that online sales have been way better for him (and us actually) than shows have been. Those in-person connections you make at shows are super important but those can also be made by attending shows as a guest. The original video we did takes the stance that shows are critical and that was the point Justin disagreed with.
@LeviathanSnakes Totaly agreed on all points other than the fact that attending and vending help build different connections. Hanginf around a table as customer for hours is weird, if your vending, its acceptable and opens up different dialog. The points you brought up were great. Im agreeing with YOU.
@animevillans2297 Ill take the assumption im an old man any day over the assumption that people have of you, fem boy. Lol! Also, caps on wrong? Why do you fem boys insist on slamming everything together, like your run on sentance. Oh wait...I think I have the answer already 😆
My bad! Justin disagreed with the original video based on the premise that shows are critical to a reptile business because in his experience, shows have never been great and that online sales have been the driving force behind his business.
That is what the original video was saying as that is what has started happening with the big shows. Justin disagreed with the concept that doing shows was critical to be successful and in his experience (and ours) online sales have been far more successful than shows.
My bad! Justin essentially disagreed with the concept that breeders need to vend national level shows, as the previous video made it seem that vending big shows was a critical aspect of the business that was getting closed off to new breeders.
@acaciaballpythons very cool. If youre part of the community then names like Justin, Kevin and Brian u will know whom I'm referring to. Leviathan, as j alluded to, is makin some the best ball bus videos ever made. I don't always agree as not all of us small to med size breeders even care about the bus side, that said I'm in the minority and even I have learned so much from leviathan as of late. Knowing Steven personally would be super cool! Talk about a mentor!
really im being blackballed because of the big local breeders in az . they are dirty so how can i even do business if big breeders are dirty ? this hobbie is cut throat... watch the character of the big breeders in arizona this is why new breeders cant get started in the hobbie.. so dirty!

Agreed 100%
Thank you man! We appreciate you and Justin dropped some huge insights! Can’t thank him enough!

Thank you so much friend! Justin crushed it and I agree, social media is so important given the realities of the world in 2024
Excellent video and thank you for taking time out to make it. I believe every newer breeder should watch this and take notes. I know I took notes.

I remember when Justin was looking for a few people to help work in his facility in Gainesville GA. A year or so ago. That'll be a dream come true!!!
Fantastic video. Will need to rewatch several times to get all of the info.

I think I missed where you(Steve) were called out about the last video.
My bad! Justin disagreed with the original video based on the premise that shows are critical to a reptile business because in his experience, shows have never been great and that online sales have been the driving force behind his business.
Thought in the video he was saying new breeders would get turned away by shows by the people running the show????
That is what the original video was saying as that is what has started happening with the big shows.
Justin disagreed with the concept that doing shows was critical to be successful and in his experience (and ours) online sales have been far more successful than shows.
Steven with a fresher haircut than Justin. Justin’s getting a little cozy as top dog lol. Jk Much love
J is top dog
Wait wat was the disagreement
My bad! Justin essentially disagreed with the concept that breeders need to vend national level shows, as the previous video made it seem that vending big shows was a critical aspect of the business that was getting closed off to new breeders.
