    But if one could squeeze a few more grand out of ones budget and buy 3-4 more 2, to 3 gene females, that first wave of eggs you produced then you would save back all females you possibly could and some males, sell off what you don't keep and now you've got your equipment paid off and a nice collection to start. For free. That is the basis for your colony and your future income, so it's a really important first step. So the more females you have giving you clutches that first year, the more animals you can save back. Actually, if you had 20 breeding females giving you 6 eggs each, you could hold back 50 or so females and 20 or so males. In every year after that you sell most of what you produce, but that first wave, that first year, if your doing it smart, you use that one year as a 'hold backs' year, and that sets you up really nice...and costed you very little except the racks (a one time purchase), and it's feed and electricity. Not much. Your net worth just took a nice jump too (again, for free) as now you have a much more valuable collection that you had previously...and remember, all you had to come out of pocket was the original cost of the original breeders, the equipment and feed. That's it and now you have several thousand dollars worth of Ball python morphs on the shelf. But instead of thinking of them as animals, think of them as income producing assets. Each one. Benefiting you. That small group could potentially produce you $30,000 + a year. Keep holding back and using your snake money to get into more and more morphs, and pretty soon your at 100 females and your pulling down 100K with a RUclips channel averaging more than $500 per snake.

    This video is a great idea for investing and the general cost! The only addition I would make is maybe offer an option to breed your snake food.. cause buying 3 rats to breed(1.2) and the cost of setting that up ends up being far less than $536 for the year to feed your snakes. If start up money hard to come by. Thank you very much for the info!

Either pied, clown, or lavender albino! Going to do just as you were explaining and break down my 5 gene male into a visual for 100% hets and go from there! Ideally monsoon or DG are be my dream genes to work with down the line.

    Really goos video man but you left out a pretty big cost (the incubator) you need an incubator and also a hatchling rack to keep the hatchlings. That being said people new to the hobby would definitely learn some great information from this video. I really like how you laid out a good breeding plan with fairly affordable but powerful snakes.

    For the heat tape, do you put that directly on the bottom of the tub, or would you put it on the underside of the shelf. I’m concerned that putting directly on the tub could eventually burn the snake, even with the thermostat.

    • @LeviathanSnakes
      @LeviathanSnakes  2 года назад

      We put the heat tape on the top side of the shelves of the rack, friend!

    I’d double your rodent budget price. If you want a more realistic approach for buying feeders. And as time goes figure out your rodent supplier for bringing prices down. Medium rats in my area average $6

    • @LeviathanSnakes
      @LeviathanSnakes  2 года назад

      That is wild! We pay on average $2-$3 for a small rat here and we usually don’t feed mediums since they can get too big
