I remember seeing Ween live, to all their detractors who claim they aren't "Technical" enough, the only time I saw a band jam out as well as Ween was Les Claypool's Frog Brigade with the Guitarist from M.I.R.V. filling in on lead guitar some 20 years ago. Considering the technical profession brought forward by Claypool and every single member of his Brigade, such is quite a complement. These guys could easily shred and Slap/Pop it up if they ever felt like making such an album, considering that isn't what's in any longer, now actually would be a perferct time to make some 80's shredding and 90's Grunge/Indie versions, making songs akin to say Hair Metal, (Would be hilarious to hear the concepts they would come up for such a song) maybe take a bit from Guns n Roses, Van Halen, with some lesser Musicians mixed in, perhaps even throw in an Industrial track Ministry/Skinny Puppy related and even go Slayer hard, then to move on and have the second half transition into Funk Metal, such as Faith No More, Red Hot Chili Peppers, even a dash of Rage Against the Machine, then some Nirvana, Pearl Jam, onward To Radiohead with a dash of the Manson dark Shock Rock and NIN industrial. Then, end it with a song or two playing with their own start up material before closing it off with a Backstreet Boys sound. Two Disk Length. One can dream....
This only furthers my appreciation for Ween and the fact that their actual discography is extremely pulled back so as to present what they want the song to encapsulate as well as for the cohesion of the entire album letting each song shine long enough to make the statement for the Album while go all out live. Primus/Claypool are known to jam out and as my previous equation having seen Claypool's Frog Brigade with the lead guitarist from MIRV (Quite experimental, and very much overlooked during the time they were releasing,) seeing Ween dip and dive into so many jam sessions that would then break out into pieces from other songs, some I was unfamiliar with at the time, should speak leagues as to just what these guys are capable of, as well as itch at me whenever I think of someone discrediting Ween as being novice Musicians after probably somehow coming in contact with Music they don't have a wider grasp on, all the more damnit you have no idea how much this band is etched into what is probably the best time of my entire life, only competition it has is my early childhood and a brief fully free of all restrictions period that would come nearly one decade after. They are as much a part of me as any physical facet, they helped compose the soundtrack (mixed with an ever increasing amount of unusual or otherwise "weird" Bands/Musicians I.E. The Residents, Praxis, Primus, Wu-Tang Clan, Tool, Radiohead, Mike Patton, especially Mr. Bungle, ) you certainly made me desire to check out another concert. Still though something tells me you probably are within a 10 year radius, on the off chance you're even younger, (considering you have implied going their concerts you probably don't need to hear this bit of advice) don't let computers, especially "Smartphones" from taking away the reality around you. Make the most out of all the fun times with real friends, the times that make you proud, that have a weight to that, all the better if one can bring about deeper subject matter mixed in. As I CAN imagine what the current newly borns to 10 year olds are going to grow up, and if you just so happen to be a "90's" kid (though technically I was born into the earlier half of the mid 80's). Don't be afraid to go outside your comfort zone, if anything locate where one such area is and purposefully step over it along with all the arbitrary idiocy that time only seems to increase as obviously information is able to. Pretty intoxicated at the moment, so I'll be aiming to use this time to focus on creating one or any number of projects that now are of interest to me uniquely when placed into this extended comfortable hypnosis. They are literally doing all that in some sequence every night. And they change the style of these songs on the fly regularly.
