She grabs Bennett and forces him to throw himself off enemies. "You just need to funnel me more. I can deal more damage with Homa." I can't pull for Homa, I don't have enough primogems. She grabs my credit card. It declines. "Guess this is the end." She grabs Gouba. She says "Gouba, get them." There is no hint of sadness in his eyes. Nothing but pure, no icd pyro application. What a cruel world.
I find Yoimiya more convenient to play than Xiangling in single target. Having to constantly babysit Xaingling's energy requirements is just such a hassle. In all honesty, since dendro my Xiangling has been riding the bench. Taser and hyperbloom feel much better to play than national for aoe, and my Yoimiya for any single target content just feels so much comfier.

Xiangling is still good in mob content but lets be honest, we're getting a lot of boss contents recently, and ones that fcking loves to stall and cant be hit which makes her ER funneling painful to deal with. Running yoimiya or hu tao or even diluc feels a lot better in those situations. Obviously with hyperbloom now i'd much rather just run hyperbloom with kuki/ei nahida ayato who cares not for energy at all.
I would like to express my thanks to Xiangling. My gratitude for her indisputably magnificent assistance is almost infinite. Xiangling's efforts have not gone unnoticed. I really like the contribution that she has in our society, she really makes a difference and helps others out, the world could always use more people like Xiangling. Genshin's energy system might be annoying, but it's fair imo. If characters like Xiangling, Xingqiu, and Yelan didn't have energy requirements, they would break the game to the point that most of the time there would be little to no reason to use other characters at all (other than personal preferences of course). It is thanks to the Favonius set that these characters can be played at very low investment without breaking the game.
Honestly I think recent energy design is pretty bad. So many characters just have bursts with 70 or 80 energy costs, especially 4*s, without those bursts being particularly powerful. I miss 40 cost or even 60 cost bursts with low cooldowns. But what I would actually want to see is a character who has a high cost burst with a low cooldown so that they scaled incredibly well with ER and particle generation. This was what I envisioned as a way to buff electro's particle generation focus before dendro came in and just buffed their reactions.
case in point raiden (ish), her cooldown is not that low but she is probably one of the only high burst cost characters that actually scales well on ER. the other issue with high burst cost characters recently is that their particle generation sucks too, see faruzan, dori
I think Mihoyo's design on energy HAS been shit for some characters actually. It's fine for main carries like Itto to require a lot of energy obviously. You invest into them so that you can get the most out of them. But why are so many supports SO energy hungry? And I mean supports, not sub dps chars. Supports are supposed to be a flex tape for your character, they shouldn't require better artifacts than your main dps. Sara and Faruzan are SUPER energy hungry. Yunjin requires crit rate, ER AND def rolls and constellations to be on par with other supports. Why even bother?? Dori's burst costs 80. Sara's burst costs 80. Gorou's is 80. Faruzan 80 and has trouble bursting with 300% er pre-c6. Thoma's burst is 80. Yunjin's is 60 but she and her teams have terrible geo particle gen. I HATE this trend
gorou and sara aren’t as bad. gorou is only in mono-geo team so he gets a lot of particles but even then iirc his buff is on his skill not burst. sara, if used, is pretty much paired with either raiden or keqing which both provides a lot of electro particles so you should be fine. I agree about the rest ESPECIALLY faruzan goddamn she is so garbage and clunky to play without her c6
@@ushiima Sara is actually terrible because when you kill the enemies too early you're stuck with nothing. And Raiden without burst and Sara are both TERRIBLE batteries. At least they should have given her good particle generation... Fischl is much more comfortable since she easily has 100% uptime
Faruzan doesn't have any troubles bursting with 300% ER pre-c6... She can easily have even less, like 250% ER, when you use her with Wanderer, Venti, Xingqiu, for example. STOP with those myths. Community is mislead like crazy about Faruzan and Wanderer, sheeesh.
Sara, Gorou, Faruzan and to a lesser extent Thoma were all designed to be whale bait. Sara and Faruzan have the worst of it by far though. Sara is a worse buffer for Raiden (who she was intended to support) than a free c0 character (Lisa with TTDS) unless Sara is c6. Faruzan's ER issues make her arguably worse than just replacing her with an off field damage dealer without her c6. Basically all of these characters range from near pointless to alright but niche without most of their constellations and it is very intentional. Say you wanted Faruzan and Wanderer when his banner was out. It was pretty much known from the get go that Fazuzan has severe energy issues and that her c6 more than fixed them turning her into an actual battery. So you decide that you'll try for c6. The rough average number of pulls for a c6 rate up 4* is 260. At that point you would likely have c1 Wanderer or be far into pity with a guarantee for c1. The whole design of most of the 4*s you listed is around getting you to keep pulling for constellations. Thoma's ER requirements aren't really that awful when you factor in that in most cases he only wants two stats (HP and ER) and in the case of burgeon you can get away without worrying about building HP. I agree with your over all premise. Many of the 2.0 and later supports have needlessly high ER requirements.

xinyan technically misses too. She could've been a geo/physical unit for all the relevancy her pyro element has (none). at most it enables pyro resonance which is meh bc let's be honest if you're using xinyan you're probably time-whaling or money-whaling on her (she'll want both actually kek)to the extent that the resonance buff with bennett isn't wheremost of her dmg is coming from.
Why are you all talking about the characters when the tierlist was for the element? He even specifically says it's based on the reactions. It has nothing to do with how good the cryo or pyro units are
Edited : Yesterday i compared Mona + Kazuha + TTDS buff to Bennet burst + Nahida + Melt with a Charged shot from ganyu. The setup with Melt did 72k on the bloom with Bennet alone and 87.5k with him and Nahida when the setup with Mona did 71k. So Mona and Kazuha (freedom sworn) buff as much as a Melt setup with Bennet (Skyward ) However those buffs are only similar when you can melt EVERY HITS involved, cause Kazuha and Mona buff every single hit as long as their buffs are up. With something like a standard ICD you gonna end up with your raw damages multiplied by around 2.05 when with Mona they are just multiplied by 3. Long story short, Mona Kazuha ends up being more than 50% better than burning melt ayaka
Yep although my Ayaka is not so good she kinda goes through all content with c0 Mona and c0 Diona with nobless. I really like her hypercarry. I should also give Mona a 4 piece millelith
The thing with Ayaka melt is just that her burst multipliers are average, but she hits a LOT. Compare that to Ganyu's charged attacks and bloom, having very high multipliers in exchange for doing a full charged shot per hit. It's just not ideal to try to melt her burst, especially when the alternatives (Freeze, and Mono Cryo against bosses) are much more comfortable and reliable.
Wait what? Your melt is doing 72k? Are you inside bennet burst. Avg build Ganyu C1R1 does 65k-75k bloom on normal melt without any buffs. Something is wrong with the calculation.
@@phoenixlau Shenhe’s burst should be good to hit the orbs (or whatever they are). I tried it on the overworld version and it destroyed them instantly.
Wenut will probably open with the BS orbs phase so bow users and vertical AoE abilities (which are usually present in Ayaka teams or freeze teams in general) are appreciated
Basically melt ayaka do a lot of damage but knock back small target so you kinda need kazuha/venti for it. Zajef glossed over the ayaka bennet xl kazuha team because it countered all of his point. Freeze ayaka is just bad most of the time.
Imagine fav weapons with 5 star stats, more particles and can proc from off field effects 😳 but yes the weaker versions in exchange for accessibility is probably the way to go
@@DanielCruz-xq6eo You are just straight up wrong, you can't proc weapon/artifacts effects off-field unless it's specifically stated that you can. You need to swap to a character wearing Fav weapon to get particles.
i have a gripe with er in genshin, in the beginning early game energy was hard to come by and you would rarely get your burst playing normally. when you reach higher lvls energy flowed in more consistently, now you build proper teams and the flat tank you have receives more particle value than before with the higher er stat, but every character released now has a 70-80 costing burst without their burst feeling like its worth that cost. most of them should be 60 with what they do or have more to it. fav is way too op cuz of this problem and is necessary cuz of it as well. a char like yae has a 90 cost burst for the sole reason to have some kind of synergy to be paired with raiden but its not worth 90 at all, its better to just not worry about it and focus on skill; only use it when its up. someone like mona (whom i thought had 80 cost prior to this comment) only has 60 cost burt, 15s cd, with almost 800% scaling at lvl 10 that hits all enemies around her, can vape, and provide a dmg bonus taken to enemies, where yae's gucci costing burst does 400+% (+ 600%x3 if skills are casted and up), 22s cd, and hits one little area on a single target that enemies can walk out of, and only now with dendro can it aggravate giving the flat bonus that provides on all its hits. 60 burst with 3200% dmg done spread amongst 4 enemies vs maybe 2200% on 1 enemy against 4 enemies. im tired of seeing these post design choiced energy cost bursts, it rly does not benefit the game and makes it restrictive and unfun when chars are limited to fav, er stats, and double element just to use them for their BARE BONE purpose, not to point fingers at anyones wifu or anything, YUN JIN!!!

Blow a gnosis sized hole through the first hilichurl, it’s dead on the spot. “GOUBA IKUYO!” i screamed as i throw Gouba at the second hilichurl, miss it entirely because it’s hoyo auto-targeting and nails little timmie’s birds. I have to resort to the bennett buffed 900EM 400CV C6 crowned pyronado now, “Tally ho lads” pyronade vapes the two vv shreded hilichurl, the sound and heat set off car alarms. R5 Homa in my arms as i bayonet charge the last terrified rapscallion. He bleeds out waiting on the abyss order to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to stitch up. Just as the archons intended.
In the catalyst it will really depend on what you will play. TTDS is worthless if you play a HP based character like Yelan or Nilou better yet use Nahida's catalayst for support (EM). Widsith is too RNG that's why I barely use it. Lost Prayers is the best overall since almost everyone can use it and the passive nice for on-field DPS. Meanwhile Kagura is great for units that can spam their skill like Yae or probably even YanFei. Even Ningguang can kinda use it.
Yeah. Kagura takes it easily. And Ning can't kinda use it. She rocks the thing thanks to her C2. Also, since the question was about one of each, that doesn't mean whale, so his stuff about a whale and widsith is irrelevant, and one of each means having TTDS doesn't matter. Still gotta pick one.

Zajef jokingly validating my accidental Moonglow pull felt so good tbh... I've had that thing forever and it felt like a curse. I laugh about it too but when I get Kokomi she's gonna be spoiled.
7:15 I would recommend adding Bennett Overburgeon to that list. It's way way better at C6, but if you have it, it works really well in AoE if you use Beidou and really well in single target if you use Fischl. You can go 3xEM on Bennett and use an EM weapon because you're onfielding hi, and you just get to blow everything up. It has the pitfall of playing Overload without a grouper, but in this abyss specifically, anything that doesn't die to like 3 Burgeons is unflinching so it doesn't matter. Probably in an abyss without that fact, it would feel worse, but right now it feels so great.
I honestly can't even imagine how they are going to make the pyro archon stand up to the likes of Bennett. Pretty much the only way to make them stand out would be as a hypercarry but there is also stiff competition there as well.
I dunno, I don't plan to Mona about Cyno. At Lisa if someone likes him, then getting to use him for Hyperbloom will be a Keqing situation in their book.
Imo one good way to buff geo is to make it the best shield breaker is the game like they're not gonna be above say pyro against cryo shields but they're gonna be equal to it at best and this applies to all other elements aswell basically being as good as the other elements against the shields they're strong against as Another way is to just make petra better

I knew Melt Ayaka wasnt really about melting Ayaka's damage since the leaks. Her multipliers are split. Her CA is 3 multipliers, her burst 20, her NA are fast but individually small multipliers. She can somewhat apply cryo for pyros to melt, and that's proven with Hutao Ayaka. Its a one rotation speedrun team though, not a general purpose one. This is among similar reasons why you cant vape well for Yelan/XQ dmg, but they are good enablers. Generally due to icd Ayaka isnt a good melt enabler outside of her burst either.
@@coffeemug1012 Are you sure it's only 3? My solo Xingqiu does 11k per rainsword and 51k+58k E without any buffs or resonances. In a team he's able to finish 12-3 Abyss A.S.I.M.O.N in 16 seconds before it goes invisible.
Am I alone here in that I think it's really hard to listen to his videos? It's the lounge jazz BGM paired with the tinny and cheap sounding microphone input that makes for an exhausting listening experience, at least that's how I feel. It's mostly the microphone sound quality that's bothering me here, I don't mind the jazz music. Both together though, is just ugh 😩 I want to say, I enjoy the content, it's just the listening experience that's bothering me.
I'm assuming you meant that the 5* catalysts are eh in a generalist sense. They're usually pretty medicore on other units but as signatures they're still pretty good, in the case of Thousand Floating Dreams I don't see how ttds/sac frags is going to be the stronger option especially if Nahida is the on field or if she's supporting someone like Alhaitham who doesn't benefit from attack.
The extra skill uses from Sac Frags can add up and probably overtake Floating Dreams in longer fights. In most cases Floating dreams is going to be better but honestly not by enough to warrant the weapon banner pulls. If you are playing her off field she and the rest of the party may enjoy the extra energy from her running Fav. It isn't that Floating Dreams is worse. It is that it isn't better enough to justify the pulls. I might be on board if Nahida already has some constellations like c2 since vertical investment tends to scale well with more vertical investment. Also, Alhatham does still have atk scaling. He actually has more of it than Nahida does. It isn't a wasted stat on him. Even in hyperbloom teams there is often at least one character who would like a 48% atk buff (XQ, Ayato, Beidou, Fischl, Cyno, etc.). I'd go with Sac Frags or Fav over TTDS on Nahida but TTDS is still a solid option in a lot of cases.
Not only on-field, but in general, it gives more EM both to the Nahida and to the team. It's not much, one may argue if it's worth enough over sac fragments, but it's obviously and simply better. Zajef tries hard to present 5* weapons as not important, instead of evaluating them correctly. Once he was telling that in general they are only to see bigger numbers and providing no real value, bruh. While 5* crit weapon can help so much with build it's crazy, can help save you a lot of artifact farming etc.

I've already said - they are insanely helpful for builds, saving your time with artifacts, so you can even build more characters and teams, finally - make weaker characters strong enough. 5* weapons are very valuable.
hey zaj i have an idea for a video about dehya: how about you go into a coop game with people who are willing to help, and have them use xinqiu, yelan, and kazuha. while you use dehya’s ult, let them attack alongside you to trigger vaporize as if dehya’s burst is normal and does that just to see what kind of character dehya could have been had her burst not been neutered this bad.
Even if she worked with them, she'd unironically do less dmg than Diluc. And tbf, I think we should stop forcing Dehya to be a main DPS. Her sustain role is fine, even if you still need a healer together, but isn't completely garbage like a hypercarry role.
Trying to make her do damage isn’t going to work no matter what crazy setups you can think of. She’s a unique character and does her job okay, but her job is just not needed in the game
The issue with her burst isnt that it doesnt vape mona vapes almost all her hits. The issue is that dehyas burst has bad scalings so why bother using her.
I have no shenhe, for bosses i used ayaka with xiangbennett and any anemo, it was my second best option for unfreezable enemies when hutao was occupied with the other singletarget side Of course now i have hyperbloom
@@JustSomeGuyWithAMugThe damage you gain from melt is never worth losing a battery(Rosaria or Shenhe) or VV(Kazuha). Just use a normal Ayaka team with Bennett instead of a hydro character and it will do similar dmg without energy problems

I'm bad the game. Every time I run into one of those big fatui cryo sprayers with my freeze team, I cry. It makes me want to run melt just so I don't have to think about him ever again.
Hey! I actually made the calcs so happy to answer any Questions. It wasn't a "cope" thread, so kind of a disappointing response from Zajeff77. It wasn't about her TRUE™ purpose. It was how does she stack up to coop shielders (Diona and Layla) who have shields that are explicitly weaker (50% strength 5s duration for Diona, 35% strength for Layla) and generally don't replace healers fully (although Diona heals). And to make sure Dehya doesn't die in coop from redmane, and how you'd expect her redmane to function and when to best mitigate. It was pre-release so obviously I've had time to test it in game and it's really quite fun and she doesn't die lol. Link at the bottom but I'll try to summarize here so people don't need to click through. The calcs were upper limit, capping redmane, rather than an estimate of in game damage taken. I guess one thing I left out is comparing vs a shield, Dehya mitigation isn't flat per unit, she can give one very bad player much more mitigation lol. Dehya doesn't replace a healer but her mitigation ceiling is higher than a shielder with a healer, and poise is maintained. I think this is generally true in solo and coop, where at C0 I believe it's pretty hard to argue her on field teams are stronger than her off field teams in terms of DPS output. I also cover why some of her kit does seem balanced for or intended for coop, as everything people complain about is not an issue. No Xq/Yelan, she catches energy on field, burst duration and field time non issues, and even her ability to jump to replace her E is helpful. Tanking in coop isn't necessary, it's about fulfilling the tank role for fun, to be clear. And C2 Zhongli is still the ultimate babysitter but C0 Dehya works fine, and C2 Dehya does more damage and doesn't cost 3 limited banner pulls. 4:23 i hate that gorou was designed to use fav, he generates 3 particles on 10 seconds with 80 cost burst(not to mention fucking faruzan). Also it dosent feel good that suports like him or faruzan dont have damgage and therfore it dosent matter their investment
Whens the baizhu pre release coming? I have wishes saved and am planning on spending a lot of them on ayaya and shenhe but need to see how good baizhu is in case I want him, or his c2, or his weapon, etc. Hoping it releases well before their banner ends at least
baizhu isn't anything too crazy- his dendro app is nowhere near nahida level but he'll work with a seond dendro unit, baizhu can't be the team's sole survivability option in abyss as of right now, and he does a bit of everything- (weak) shields that regenerate, okay-ish healing, some dendro app + don't make him a dps he isn't meant for it lol. DONT get his weapon for the love of everything good in the gachaverse. it's literally a fancier-looking prototype amber. He should be serviceable at c0, so you don't really need to whale. He's not a must-pull, and isn't exactly the full-uptime dendro applier + shielder cyno wants, but he seems pretty decent (I might get him on his rerun just for snake attacks)
he’s ok. he’s probably gonna work best in spread/aggravate teams but even then he’s not gonna be a huge upgrade from yaoyao or like zhongli (both of those also have slightly better defensive just weaker buffing). he doesn’t have good enough application to be the solo dendro for hyperbloom/burgeon/bloom so for those he’d probably need a second dendro, again similar to yaoyao just better buffing. basically if you have yaoyao or zhongli he’s just not needed really so only pull for him if you want him or want to max out a spread/aggravate team

You can also replace him with Raiden. To an extent even with Beidou, cause many Cyno mains are just adding him to hyperbloom core, even saying he is great there, LOL. Good luck in getting Keqing.

After making a Fav-All Team with good Substats. There is no argument here, Units who rely on their burst need Energy Recharge. It's not just having your burst available, procing the white Particles really helps with Units with Horrible Elemental Particles. That way, you have a have a Guaranteed 30-60% ER on your Support/Sub-DPS Units while Funneling them to your Damage Dealers, that way Artifact have a much more leeway when looking for the optimal Substats. Same goes for the Sacrificial Series but they are much Stricter and RNG dependant to proc at very Low Refinement.
now hear me out, i thought of this just now, why not, dps on field alhaitham, constant dendro, xingqiu for infinite hydro, beidou burst ONLY cuz it doesnt activate hyprbloom, and kuki built on em, alhaitham can make seeds and also spread cuz electro charged cuz beidou and xingqiu, and he will do a TON of damage by just himself, and kuki will just supplement that big pp damage with bigger pp damage, probably idk if this is a meta team, a well known team, or a team that someone has thought of before, but i just thought it would be good and wanted to share the idea
The more I think about Dehya's kit, the more it seems to me that she designed to be in burning team, but the character that will make burning better is far away.
I can see Dehya more in-line with Fontaine mechanics as a self sustainer. Can't have a mechanical nation without mechanics. It would just be the Al nation without the mechanic. So I would think Fontaine would introduce the use of paying HP to activate skills, bursts, or some artifact set that allows you to pay HP to give you missing ER. Example: Dehya has 20 energy and needs 50 more for her burst. Instead, Dehya can pay 50% of max Hp to give her the missing energy. At the same time, other characters could use it. Dori has an insane ER requirement. , yet if you build her for Hp, she can pay whatever missing ER she needs with max Hp. Has 10 Energy? Pay 70% for that missing energy. Inazuma builds onto building into energy while Fontaine would emphasize on building into HP. It won't work with characters that aren't naturally building towards HP yet have highER req like Gorou or Faruzan. So I see Dehya as a self sustainer that can be used as a source of fulfilling an HP expense requirement as well as being a psuedo-shielder since Zhongli has no self recovery and wouldn't prevent damage caused by talents or artifacts. But yeah, burning seems like Dehya's go-to or she may be an aura applier for a 5* reverse melter. We have no 5* cryo units that are exceptional for reverse melt, but Ganyu.
I would switch cryo and electro. Electro reactions suck, the good ones come from Dendro and Aggravate isn't that good. I can ignore Melt and Cryo has Frozen which would carry it past anything Electro could call that is good. Electro shares a reaction with Cryo that is good, Superconduct. I don't think Hyperbloom carries Electro as an element enough and again that's more a Dendro thing anyway (otherwise we take away everything from Dendro and it is Dendro that is ass).
/again, not everything has to react to eachother, or else itll become a mess. Think rock paper scissors. Balanced game. try add a hammer to that game. And it gets complicated real quick, if youre trying to get everything to have a win or lose state.
about the point you make on fav weapons being good for genshin i think it limits the weapons options because you either use a damage/EM weapon if they don't need energy recharge or you have to use fav weapons because you generally require too much ER and while i can understand the on field damage dealer having high energy requirement i think that the supports/buffers except for bennet need way too much ER and give way too little value like sara gorou yunjin faruzan and probably the future ones aswell like the example you used is mono geo team and in that team even if gorou could do some off field damage you couldn't because you have to build so much ER and same for faruzan only sara can deal some damage because of raiden
The new set wasn't even going to be an upgrade for her regardless. It was less than a 5% damage increase but since she would want a considerable amount of ER anyway emblem was still going to be the better option. I strongly suspect that the new set is for some other future character with some similar mechanics to Dehya.
@TheSheepersGame melt does work when I used sunfire jean. But yeah it's not worth doing. I would rather get shenhe, kazuha, and bennett, and they can simply skyrocket her burst damage.
Wait what you guys use two fav weapons for Itto? I only use a fav weapon on Gorou and he use a The exile set to power up Itto... And it's just fine for my rotation. I get enough energy for my Itto with just Gurou's e, fav bow effect and then burst. Gurou's burst recharges quick so I can double up on Exile's effect.
Purely from a meta perspective, it's better to pull Shenhe, skip Ayaka and wait for a Ganyu rerun. There's no point to getting the inferior cryo DPS unless you're just impatient or just prefer Ayaka for non-meta reasons like design/gameplay etc. or if you play on mobile and can't aim. Especially when you consider how much Ayaka's fallen off with the release of dendro and recent abysses countering Ayaka, I sadly can't recommend her to newer players.
both ayaka and ganyu cant utilize dendro because no reactions. id consider ayaka to be the better pull because ayakas freeze comps are better than ganyus freeze / reverse melt
Is there any merit to using Ayaka for Forward Melt? To elaborate on the question, Ayaka herself doesn't get a lot from Melt, but since she applies Cryo very fast, is there merit in using her as an on-field cryo-applicator for a pyro unit to get a bunch of forward melts?

I find Yoimiya more convenient to play than Xiangling in single target. Having to constantly babysit Xaingling's energy requirements is just such a hassle. In all honesty, since dendro my Xiangling has been riding the bench. Taser and hyperbloom feel much better to play than national for aoe, and my Yoimiya for any single target content just feels so much comfier.

Xiangling is still good in mob content but lets be honest, we're getting a lot of boss contents recently, and ones that fcking loves to stall and cant be hit which makes her ER funneling painful to deal with. Obviously with hyperbloom now i'd much rather just run hyperbloom with kuki/ei nahida ayato who cares not for energy at all.

Genshin's energy system might be annoying, but it's fair imo. If characters like Xiangling, Xingqiu, and Yelan didn't have energy requirements, they would break the game to the point that most of the time there would be little to no reason to use other characters at all (other than personal preferences of course). It is thanks to the Favonius set that these characters can be played at very low investment without breaking the game.

Honestly I think recent energy design is pretty bad. So many characters just have bursts with 70 or 80 energy costs, especially 4*s, without those bursts being particularly powerful.
I miss 40 cost or even 60 cost bursts with low cooldowns.
But what I would actually want to see is a character who has a high cost burst with a low cooldown so that they scaled incredibly well with ER and particle generation.
This was what I envisioned as a way to buff electro's particle generation focus before dendro came in and just buffed their reactions.
case in point raiden (ish), her cooldown is not that low but she is probably one of the only high burst cost characters that actually scales well on ER. the other issue with high burst cost characters recently is that their particle generation sucks too, see faruzan, dori
I think Mihoyo's design on energy HAS been shit for some characters actually.
It's fine for main carries like Itto to require a lot of energy obviously. You invest into them so that you can get the most out of them.
But why are so many supports SO energy hungry? And I mean supports, not sub dps chars.
Supports are supposed to be a flex tape for your character, they shouldn't require better artifacts than your main dps. Sara and Faruzan are SUPER energy hungry. Yunjin requires crit rate, ER AND def rolls and constellations to be on par with other supports. Why even bother??

gorou and sara aren’t as bad. gorou is only in mono-geo team so he gets a lot of particles but even then iirc his buff is on his skill not burst. sara, if used, is pretty much paired with either raiden or keqing which both provides a lot of electro particles so you should be fine. I agree about the rest ESPECIALLY faruzan goddamn she is so garbage and clunky to play without her c6

Faruzan doesn't have any troubles bursting with 300% ER pre-c6... She can easily have even less, like 250% ER, when you use her with Wanderer, Venti, Xingqiu, for example. STOP with those myths. Community is mislead like crazy about Faruzan and Wanderer, sheeesh.
Sara, Gorou, Faruzan and to a lesser extent Thoma were all designed to be whale bait. Sara and Faruzan have the worst of it by far though. Sara is a worse buffer for Raiden (who she was intended to support) than a free c0 character (Lisa with TTDS) unless Sara is c6. Faruzan's ER issues make her arguably worse than just replacing her with an off field damage dealer without her c6.
Basically all of these characters range from near pointless to alright but niche without most of their constellations and it is very intentional. Say you wanted Faruzan and Wanderer when his banner was out. It was pretty much known from the get go that Fazuzan has severe energy issues and that her c6 more than fixed them turning her into an actual battery. So you decide that you'll try for c6. The rough average number of pulls for a c6 rate up 4* is 260. At that point you would likely have c1 Wanderer or be far into pity with a guarantee for c1. The whole design of most of the 4*s you listed is around getting you to keep pulling for constellations.
Thoma's ER requirements aren't really that awful when you factor in that in most cases he only wants two stats (HP and ER) and in the case of burgeon you can get away without worrying about building HP.
I agree with your over all premise. Many of the 2.0 and later supports have needlessly high ER requirements.

She could've been a geo/physical unit for all the relevancy her pyro element has (none). at most it enables pyro resonance which is meh bc let's be honest if you're using xinyan you're probably time-whaling or money-whaling on her (she'll want both actually kek)to the extent that the resonance buff with bennett isn't wheremost of her dmg is coming from.

Edited : Yesterday i compared Mona + Kazuha + TTDS buff to Bennet burst + Nahida + Melt with a Charged shot from ganyu.
The setup with Melt did 72k on the bloom with Bennet alone and 87.5k with him and Nahida when the setup with Mona did 71k. So Mona and Kazuha (freedom sworn) buff as much as a Melt setup with Bennet (Skyward )
However those buffs are only similar when you can melt EVERY HITS involved, cause Kazuha and Mona buff every single hit as long as their buffs are up. With something like a standard ICD you gonna end up with your raw damages multiplied by around 2.05 when with Mona they are just multiplied by 3. Long story short, Mona Kazuha ends up being more than 50% better than burning melt ayaka
So moral of the story melt ayaka bad freeze ayaka good

The thing with Ayaka melt is just that her burst multipliers are average, but she hits a LOT. Compare that to Ganyu's charged attacks and bloom, having very high multipliers in exchange for doing a full charged shot per hit. It's just not ideal to try to melt her burst, especially when the alternatives (Freeze, and Mono Cryo against bosses) are much more comfortable and reliable.

i have a gripe with er in genshin, in the beginning early game energy was hard to come by and you would rarely get your burst playing normally. when you reach higher lvls energy flowed in more consistently, now you build proper teams and the flat tank you have receives more particle value than before with the higher er stat, but every character released now has a 70-80 costing burst without their burst feeling like its worth that cost. most of them should be 60 with what they do or have more to it. fav is way too op cuz of this problem and is necessary cuz of it as well. a char like yae has a 90 cost burst for the sole reason to have some kind of synergy to be paired with raiden but its not worth 90 at all, its better to just not worry about it and focus on skill; only use it when its up. someone like mona (whom i thought had 80 cost prior to this comment) only has 60 cost burt, 15s cd, with almost 800% scaling at lvl 10 that hits all enemies around her, can vape, and provide a dmg bonus taken to enemies, where yae's gucci costing burst does 400+% (+ 600%x3 if skills are casted and up), 22s cd, and hits one little area on a single target that enemies can walk out of, and only now with dendro can it aggravate giving the flat bonus that provides on all its hits. 60 burst with 3200% dmg done spread amongst 4 enemies vs maybe 2200% on 1 enemy against 4 enemies. im tired of seeing these post design choiced energy cost bursts, it rly does not benefit the game and makes it restrictive and unfun when chars are limited to fav, er stats, and double element just to use them for their BARE BONE purpose, not to point fingers at anyones wifu or anything, YUN JIN!!!

Blow a gnosis sized hole through the first hilichurl, it’s dead on the spot. “GOUBA IKUYO!” i screamed as i throw Gouba at the second hilichurl, miss it entirely because it’s hoyo auto-targeting and nails little timmie’s birds. I have to resort to the bennett buffed 900EM 400CV C6 crowned pyronado now, “Tally ho lads” pyronade vapes the two vv shreded hilichurl, the sound and heat set off car alarms. R5 Homa in my arms as i bayonet charge the last terrified rapscallion. He bleeds out waiting on the abyss order to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to stitch up. Just as the archons intended.

In the catalyst it will really depend on what you will play. TTDS is worthless if you play a HP based character like Yelan or Nilou better yet use Nahida's catalayst for support (EM). Widsith is too RNG that's why I barely use it. Lost Prayers is the best overall since almost everyone can use it and the passive nice for on-field DPS. Meanwhile Kagura is great for units that can spam their skill like Yae or probably even YanFei. Even Ningguang can kinda use it.
Yeah. Kagura takes it easily. And Ning can't kinda use it. She rocks the thing thanks to her C2. Also, since the question was about one of each, that doesn't mean whale, so his stuff about a whale and widsith is irrelevant, and one of each means having TTDS doesn't matter. Still gotta pick one.

Zajef jokingly validating my accidental Moonglow pull felt so good tbh... I've had that thing forever and it felt like a curse. I laugh about it too but when I get Kokomi she's gonna be spoiled.
7:15 I would recommend adding Bennett Overburgeon to that list. It's way way better at C6, but if you have it, it works really well in AoE if you use Beidou and really well in single target if you use Fischl. You can go 3xEM on Bennett and use an EM weapon because you're onfielding hi, and you just get to blow everything up. It has the pitfall of playing Overload without a grouper, but in this abyss specifically, anything that doesn't die to like 3 Burgeons is unflinching so it doesn't matter. Probably in an abyss without that fact, it would feel worse, but right now it feels so great.
I honestly can't even imagine how they are going to make the pyro archon stand up to the likes of Bennett. Pretty much the only way to make them stand out would be as a hypercarry but there is also stiff competition there as well.

Imo one good way to buff geo is to make it the best shield breaker is the game like they're not gonna be above say pyro against cryo shields but they're gonna be equal to it at best and this applies to all other elements aswell basically being as good as the other elements against the shields they're strong against as

I knew Melt Ayaka wasnt really about melting Ayaka's damage since the leaks. Her multipliers are split. Her CA is 3 multipliers, her burst 20, her NA are fast but individually small multipliers.
She can somewhat apply cryo for pyros to melt, and that's proven with Hutao Ayaka. Its a one rotation speedrun team though, not a general purpose one.
This is among similar reasons why you cant vape well for Yelan/XQ dmg, but they are good enablers. Generally due to icd Ayaka isnt a good melt enabler outside of her burst either.

I'm assuming you meant that the 5* catalysts are eh in a generalist sense. They're usually pretty medicore on other units but as signatures they're still pretty good, in the case of Thousand Floating Dreams I don't see how ttds/sac frags is going to be the stronger option especially if Nahida is the on field or if she's supporting someone like Alhaitham who doesn't benefit from attack.
The extra skill uses from Sac Frags can add up and probably overtake Floating Dreams in longer fights. In most cases Floating dreams is going to be better but honestly not by enough to warrant the weapon banner pulls. If you are playing her off field she and the rest of the party may enjoy the extra energy from her running Fav. It isn't that Floating Dreams is worse. It is that it isn't better enough to justify the pulls. I might be on board if Nahida already has some constellations like c2 since vertical investment tends to scale well with more vertical investment.
Also, Alhatham does still have atk scaling. He actually has more of it than Nahida does. It isn't a wasted stat on him. Even in hyperbloom teams there is often at least one character who would like a 48% atk buff (XQ, Ayato, Beidou, Fischl, Cyno, etc.). I'd go with Sac Frags or Fav over TTDS on Nahida but TTDS is still a solid option in a lot of cases.
Not only on-field, but in general, it gives more EM both to the Nahida and to the team. It's not much, one may argue if it's worth enough over sac fragments, but it's obviously and simply better. Zajef tries hard to present 5* weapons as not important, instead of evaluating them correctly. Once he was telling that in general they are only to see bigger numbers and providing no real value, bruh. While 5* crit weapon can help so much with build it's crazy, can help save you a lot of artifact farming etc.

I've already said - they are insanely helpful for builds, saving your time with artifacts, so you can even build more characters and teams, finally - make weaker characters strong enough. 5* weapons are very valuable.
hey zaj i have an idea for a video about dehya: how about you go into a coop game with people who are willing to help, and have them use xinqiu, yelan, and kazuha. while you use dehya’s ult, let them attack alongside you to trigger vaporize as if dehya’s burst is normal and does that just to see what kind of character dehya could have been had her burst not been neutered this bad.

@@JustSomeGuyWithAMugThe damage you gain from melt is never worth losing a battery(Rosaria or Shenhe) or VV(Kazuha). Just use a normal Ayaka team with Bennett instead of a hydro character and it will do similar dmg without energy problems

Hey! I actually made the calcs so happy to answer any Questions. It wasn't a "cope" thread, so kind of a disappointing response from Zajeff77. It wasn't about her TRUE™ purpose. It was how does she stack up to coop shielders (Diona and Layla) who have shields that are explicitly weaker (50% strength 5s duration for Diona, 35% strength for Layla) and generally don't replace healers fully (although Diona heals). And to make sure Dehya doesn't die in coop from redmane, and how you'd expect her redmane to function and when to best mitigate. It was pre-release so obviously I've had time to test it in game and it's really quite fun and she doesn't die lol.

The calcs were upper limit, capping redmane, rather than an estimate of in game damage taken. I guess one thing I left out is comparing vs a shield, Dehya mitigation isn't flat per unit, she can give one very bad player much more mitigation lol.
Dehya doesn't replace a healer but her mitigation ceiling is higher than a shielder with a healer, and poise is maintained. I think this is generally true in solo and coop, where at C0 I believe it's pretty hard to argue her on field teams are stronger than her off field teams in terms of DPS output.
I also cover why some of her kit does seem balanced for or intended for coop, as everything people complain about is not an issue. No Xq/Yelan, she catches energy on field, burst duration and field time non issues, and even her ability to jump to replace her E is helpful. Tanking in coop isn't necessary, it's about fulfilling the tank role for fun, to be clear. And C2 Zhongli is still the ultimate babysitter but C0 Dehya works fine, and C2 Dehya does more damage and doesn't cost 3 limited banner pulls.

I really seriously think that the similarity between dehya's skill and the support item from League of Legends, Knight's Vow, means that we will eventually get more full co-op or pvp game modes. 4:23 i hate that gorou was designed to use fav, he generates 3 particles on 10 seconds with 80 cost burst(not to mention fucking faruzan). Also it dosent feel good that suports like him or faruzan dont have damgage and therfore it dosent matter their investment

Whens the baizhu pre release coming? I have wishes saved and am planning on spending a lot of them on ayaya and shenhe but need to see how good baizhu is in case I want him, or his c2, or his weapon, etc. Hoping it releases well before their banner ends at least
baizhu isn't anything too crazy- his dendro app is nowhere near nahida level but he'll work with a seond dendro unit, baizhu can't be the team's sole survivability option in abyss as of right now, and he does a bit of everything- (weak) shields that regenerate, okay-ish healing, some dendro app + don't make him a dps he isn't meant for it lol.
DONT get his weapon for the love of everything good in the gachaverse. it's literally a fancier-looking prototype amber. He should be serviceable at c0, so you don't really need to whale.
He's not a must-pull, and isn't exactly the full-uptime dendro applier + shielder cyno wants, but he seems pretty decent (I might get him on his rerun just for snake attacks)
he’s ok. he’s probably gonna work best in spread/aggravate teams but even then he’s not gonna be a huge upgrade from yaoyao or like zhongli (both of those also have slightly better defensive just weaker buffing). he doesn’t have good enough application to be the solo dendro for hyperbloom/burgeon/bloom so for those he’d probably need a second dendro, again similar to yaoyao just better buffing. basically if you have yaoyao or zhongli he’s just not needed really so only pull for him if you want him or want to max out a spread/aggravate team

Man whenever I see than Cyno is replaceable by Keqing I just have to remind myself I still don't have Keqing and I've been playing since 1.0
You can also replace him with Raiden. To an extent even with Beidou, cause many Cyno mains are just adding him to hyperbloom core, even saying he is great there, LOL. Good luck in getting Keqing.

After making a Fav-All Team with good Substats. There is no argument here, Units who rely on their burst need Energy Recharge. It's not just having your burst available, procing the white Particles really helps with Units with Horrible Elemental Particles.
That way, you have a have a Guaranteed 30-60% ER on your Support/Sub-DPS Units while Funneling them to your Damage Dealers, that way Artifact have a much more leeway when looking for the optimal Substats. Same goes for the Sacrificial Series but they are much Stricter and RNG dependant to proc at very Low Refinement.

now hear me out, i thought of this just now, why not, dps on field alhaitham, constant dendro, xingqiu for infinite hydro, beidou burst ONLY cuz it doesnt activate hyprbloom, and kuki built on em, alhaitham can make seeds and also spread cuz electro charged cuz beidou and xingqiu, and he will do a TON of damage by just himself, and kuki will just supplement that big pp damage with bigger pp damage, probably

Jean C2 comes with her C4, and the two constellations together make her one of Wanderer's best supports.

The more I think about Dehya's kit, the more it seems to me that she designed to be in burning team, but the character that will make burning better is far away.
I can see Dehya more in-line with Fontaine mechanics as a self sustainer. Can't have a mechanical nation without mechanics. It would just be the Al nation without the mechanic. So I would think Fontaine would introduce the use of paying HP to activate skills, bursts, or some artifact set that allows you to pay HP to give you missing ER.
Example: Dehya has 20 energy and needs 50 more for her burst. Instead, Dehya can pay 50% of max Hp to give her the missing energy.
At the same time, other characters could use it. Dori has an insane ER requirement. , yet if you build her for Hp, she can pay whatever missing ER she needs with max Hp. Has 10 Energy? Pay 70% for that missing energy.
Inazuma builds onto building into energy while Fontaine would emphasize on building into HP. It won't work with characters that aren't naturally building towards HP yet have highER req like Gorou or Faruzan.
So I see Dehya as a self sustainer that can be used as a source of fulfilling an HP expense requirement as well as being a psuedo-shielder since Zhongli has no self recovery and wouldn't prevent damage caused by talents or artifacts.
But yeah, burning seems like Dehya's go-to or she may be an aura applier for a 5* reverse melter. We have no 5* cryo units that are exceptional for reverse melt, but Ganyu.
I would switch cryo and electro. Electro reactions suck, the good ones come from Dendro and Aggravate isn't that good. I can ignore Melt and Cryo has Frozen which would carry it past anything Electro could call that is good. Electro shares a reaction with Cryo that is good, Superconduct. I don't think Hyperbloom carries Electro as an element enough and again that's more a Dendro thing anyway (otherwise we take away everything from Dendro and it is Dendro that is ass).

about the point you make on fav weapons being good for genshin
i think it limits the weapons options because you either use a damage/EM weapon if they don't need energy recharge
or you have to use fav weapons because you generally require too much ER
and while i can understand the on field damage dealer having high energy requirement
i think that the supports/buffers except for bennet need way too much ER and give way too little value like sara gorou yunjin faruzan and probably the future ones aswell
like the example you used is mono geo team and in that team even if gorou could do some off field damage you couldn't because you have to build so much ER and same for faruzan only sara can deal some damage because of raiden
Btw, they nerfed Dehya again, not even in her own patch (They nerfed her BiS artifact's duration)
The new set wasn't even going to be an upgrade for her regardless. It was less than a 5% damage increase but since she would want a considerable amount of ER anyway emblem was still going to be the better option. I strongly suspect that the new set is for some other future character with some similar mechanics to Dehya.
I already have 170er to my dehya still its not enough 🥲 its only enough for mono pyro.

Wait what you guys use two fav weapons for Itto? I only use a fav weapon on Gorou and he use a The exile set to power up Itto... And it's just fine for my rotation. I get enough energy for my Itto with just Gurou's e, fav bow effect and then burst. Gurou's burst recharges quick so I can double up on Exile's effect.

Purely from a meta perspective, it's better to pull Shenhe, skip Ayaka and wait for a Ganyu rerun. There's no point to getting the inferior cryo DPS unless you're just impatient or just prefer Ayaka for non-meta reasons like design/gameplay etc. or if you play on mobile and can't aim. Especially when you consider how much Ayaka's fallen off with the release of dendro and recent abysses countering Ayaka, I sadly can't recommend her to newer players.
both ayaka and ganyu cant utilize dendro because no reactions. id consider ayaka to be the better pull because ayakas freeze comps are better than ganyus freeze / reverse melt

To elaborate on the question, Ayaka herself doesn't get a lot from Melt, but since she applies Cryo very fast, is there merit in using her as an on-field cryo-applicator for a pyro unit to get a bunch of forward melts?
I don’t know but your pyro character has to be the one doing the damage and not Ayaka.
