Goku at the end of Dragon Ball Z was a different beast from his Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball GT counterparts. He fought head to head with Uub purely in his base form and without needing Super Saiyan 3. But before training Uub, how strong was Goku at the end of Dragon Ball Z? In Dragon Ball GT, Goku managed to merge with the Dragon Balls and ascend to a divine like state. But why is End of Z Goku so mysterious? What separates Goku at the end of Dragon Ball Z from the other versions of Goku like Ultra Instinct Goku? I seen a few people comment this already but I’m a firm believer that when super does it’s own version of the end of z, goku has completely absorbed Ultra instinct in his base form and he actually embodies it naturally exactly like whis. It would be the perfect explanation on why goku just seems so godly, masterful and relaxed in the end of z episode/manga chapter.
What about Vegeta?

In the manga it seems Goku’s ultimate goal is to always use UI in just his base form. So when Super gets to the end of Z, he might already be able to use UI to its fullest in just his base form, which then can be used as an actual reason Goku never transforms in End of Z.

Goku mastered ultra instinct to where he doesn't need God ki anymore by the end of z,and if your gt fan that is why there aren't God forms in gt.
I disagree because Goku hasn't fought anyone in the EOZ that forced him to transform, all he did was fight uub so he never had a reason to use his forms.

Goku can literally teleport anywhere in the galaxy by sensing ki. His family is not that far away. It's the equivalent of somebody walking to another room.

I get it for many people Goku being turned into a child again in GT killed the master vibe that EoZ Goku brought to the table. But for me it was only a minor downgrade, throughout GT Goku felt pretty mature for the most part and to me still had that very experienced master vibe to him. In all honesty i feel that GT Goku is one of the most mature versions of Goku there is in the series. EoZ Goku and EoGT Goku to me are the most unique and mysterious aspects in the series and could be theorized and talked about for years to come.
Creators or the director of Toei stated that Goku had to be turned into a kid because he was just too much powerful compared to everyone else in the show, even his base kid form is still light years ahead in power.. look at Oob his power was far stronger than SSJ3 kid Goku with Tail... Basically Ooob was equal in power to adult base goku which both are on the same level as 3rd form Baby Vegeta before going Oozaro golden form...
And goku from his first time kid form to fighting oob and having his tail out he went through a lot of zenkai boosts..
This shows how powerful adult goku was.. and adult goku with ssj3 would have rival the kid goku with ssj4 fighting super 17 or the shadow dragons..
Funnily enough EOZ goku should be stronger than anyone in dbs..

Not anyone I doubt he's stronger than the angels and he's yet to defeat Beerus, EOZ and Superhero are a year apart.

I freaking love end of z. Yeah it may be weird with the decisions made, but as someone who has consumed alot of media in their life, (anime, videogames, movies, shows) I have seen way to many repeating stories, although this story is weird it’s unique. I personally think it’s very good.

I love the end of Z because it bassically tells us that we have explored the entirety of Toriyama's universe that he wanted to tell us. The whole future arc is like a mini-arc of sort. It doesn't tell us much because thw author knows that we already know how the formula would go so he doesn't need that much to explain what's happening. It mostly relies on Goku and that's what makes it so special. The entirety of Dragon Ball and Z is about seeing Goku's life from a teen to adulthood and how he learns about the world around him. That way we have also learned how the world works as well. But now it leaves us with a question that we can answer only personally. Now we are the people who know about the world but do not know about Goku. It kind of makes us fit into the side characters' shoes instead where we are now left with just wondering what will happen next to not only the world of Dragon Ball but also the character who always did the impossible and changed so many people's lives in that universe - Son Goku
Also at the end of Z Goten was WAY too confident that Trunks couldn’t beat him again.
Goku didn't lose his mastery in GT, he was still as much of a master there as he was in End of Z
It didn't feel like that, since he never Mentors Trunks or Pan to Win, but fights himself

@@QaamansLand Basically as you said a more grown up, mature, aged version of Goku , not some dumb kid that Toriyama still wants him to be , that form to me feels like the doorway to peace in a Saiyan because your filling your mind with divine energy. Goku, knowing he achieved his goal becoming the best warrior he can literally be put him at peace mentally. And vegeta going his own route can be explained the same way. It might sound dumb but its just a theory...

GT Goku died while fighting Omega Shenron whom he was revived by the essence or spirit of Shenron, and when he came back he came in a changed state where his base was now on the same level of SSJ4 Gogeta to say the least, and he gave up his humanity to live in the living cosmos/universe, he had to ascend and leave the realm to an higher dimension with Shenron.
Goku died to become a god and leave the living world because all evil seeks him, and if he is away, no evil exists in the form of universal threat or having the power that rivals goku, so any other evil being will be as strong as the beings that exist in their own world, do you get what i mean by this?

I have a feeling they're gonna retcon EOZ eventually and it breaks my heart, as it's such a special part of the series, and it's one of my favorite moments in the franchise, especially in the manga.
The onyl Retcons would be Gohan's Design, Piccolo's Power and God Ki existing, with Uub having got a lot from Kid Buu, due to the Grand Supreme Kai

@@hoshiryu Also Bulma's comment about Goku not meeting her in over 5 years, because we know that the DBS: Super Hero movie is supposed to be very close to EoZ (confirmed by Toriyama and also obvious by comparing the age of Pan) which means that Goku did not become a hermit who never visits his friends like EoZ made it seem, the mere existence of DBS is a retcon of the original DBZ timeline.
I hate how dumb and irresponsible Goku is in super, even when he was a kid in gt he was more mature.
They probably did that on purpose to make it more kid friendly
Dragonball- Goku was a kid, but objectively it’s understandable why he was foolish. Even when he was a chad at times.
Dragonball Z goku- Adult Goku was more mature even during times of peace and even battle. But will tend to act childish or at least still act like a goof whenever he didn’t know better like naming his son, or acting “scared” when chichi got angry.
Dbgt- kinda both.
Dbs- Adult Goku acted like the laws of universe doesn’t apply to him. He can break the laws of time and gravity and he’ll still get a gold star by Zeno
That's one of the reasons why I had to drop the Super anime. That version of Goku was just insufferable. The manga handles him better.

He simply accepted the fact that he isnt the answer forever,and needed to start a tradition of generational training because the threats continue to get stronger as time goes on. Each generation has to build on Goku's work. Him being so chill,relaxed, and seemingly carefree is not different than any other master who trainers their disciples. Also at this point Goku like most men later in their lives have so much life lessons that they know when to keep calm,and carry on. There is a time for going all out. Peace time isnt it.
As Deeply Flawed as GT is, I feel as though if Akira Toryama, or even Toyotaro choose to remake it with a Manga to go off of, I'd be over the moon. GT already has one of my favorite endings in fiction.

Great video, I could not agree more with that last statement. During the video I was thinking about how in the GT special, goku is essentially a sort of god (fused w/ the dragon balls as you said) and I know Super is a bit different but it still ties into itself in a way. I think you could loosely interpret Super as the journey to Goku receiving that sort of enlightenment. My dragon ball timeline knowledge isn't the best but it goes together better than I had initially been thinking

Honestly, i’m just excited to hopefully see them take the series past the ending of Z again, Super kind of sucked for me because of the placement in the timeline removing all tension in the show, i want to see goku train with uub more seeing as all we saw of them training was episode 1 of GT, so i’m very excited for dragon balls future
End of Z Goku is definitely more mature and calm! Goku at the End of Z I would say has definitely gained wisdom as a martial arts master and as a person. Goku at the End of Z has transcended all of his mistakes in the past and is more relaxed and calm for his desire for battle and fighting strong opponents. End of Z Goku is definitely more focused on helping grow as seen when he was training Goten and Pan and when took on Uub as his student. End of Z Goku is my favorite version of Goku next to Goku at the End of GT!
What mistakes specifically?

Remember what Elder Kai had to say about Super Saiyan? A hack in lieu of true strength.
Imo, Original Storyline Goku took that to heart (no doubt assisted by seeing what Ultimate Gohan achieved in terms of power and stability) and spent those ten years working hard to master his true strength.
He may or may not have completely mastered it, but it wouldn't surprise me if SSJ had declined to only a marginal boost in power by this point due to his personal growth and self mastery.
lol. elder kar is all hype tho. with how vegetto dbs is a weaker fusion in comparison to the metamoran one. so its better if goku just ignore elder kai n listen to more reliable sources like Whis. that said i think goku has mastered all MUI by EOZ. taking all the info we have now with dbs. but of course this isnt gonna be the case cause db is going to continue and last time we saw goku and vegeta they still are learning their UI and UE forms.

He’s probably calm due to the fact that he’s mastered his own version of ultra instinct remember the last episode of Z takes place after all the events of dragon ball super
The best thing about the end of Z is that Goku finally acquired his wish. He never ever felt satisfied when fighting his opponents until this point. Not only he found a strong opponent that arose out of Goku's mercy when he wished to meet Buu's good side again - but he finally met his match and it is a person who equally enjoys fighting as much as he does for the mere sake of fighting a strong opponent.
You will see that the 'strongest' in the universe prophecied by the oracle is neither Black Frieza nor Beast Gohan. It will be Uub, but Goku will have to play a significant role in that first. Vegeta, though Goku's equal in many instances, never enjoyed fighting the same way Goku did. Vegeta was always competitve out of pride, not out of fun. Gohan never actually enjoyed fighting. Uub does seem to really enjoy and have fun fighting strong opponents as Goku does. It is also good to see Goku finally redeemed, after messing up with Frieza, Cell, Moro, as he finally placed a good bet by appealing to the good version of a past villain - who is posed to be not only to be Goku's equal, but the protector of the universe.
I think that while GT did take some of End Of Z Goku's coolness when they made Goku a kid again. I don't think it's completely gone in that series. Even though Goku is a kid in that series he still has that respect from everyone and us shown to still be the top guy when alot if the time he is slapping away guys like Ultimate Gohan and other Buu tier fighters in base without effort.
I feel like super stole a lot of this allure to Goku’s character at the end of Z. Watching Vegeta and Goku train together constantly in Super sort of goes against everything they’ve ever stood for in Z.
The whole show has always been about time skips. 3 years of Budokai tournaments. 5 years of dragonball to Z. 3 years before the androids arrive. 1 year hyperbolic time chamber. 7 years Cell to buu. 10 years after.
Trying to fill the void leaves an unsettling feeling with the show.
Ultra instinct is amazing though

You are right that the End of Z whether with Super existing or not, it does tell us viewers that Goku is something else. But when GT comes around, he looses all of his mystique and is basically just Goku going through the motions all over again, and that End of Z Goku is literally nothing special due to GT 'retconning' him somewhat.

Read the Entire Dragonball Manga from Goku meeting Bulma to Goku beating Buu, then watch "Yo Son Goku and his Friends Return", then watch the DBZ Battle of Gods Movie, then the Resurrection F Movie, then you can Imagine how all the other 3 Arcs would've went with DSBlue being the Strongest Form, no Upgrades and nothing Beyond Blue that the Manga and Anime has shown (basically ifnore the Anime and Manga, both are different then how Toriyama would've done it, he simply accepted their 2 Paths), then the Broly Movie, Super Hero Movie and the finally End of Z
he doesnt need to use transformations because he has mastered UI at this point he has full control of it and doesnt need to transform to use it

I have a feeling that Zeno is gonna pass on his responsiblities to goku. Or at least something along that lines. Cause him being a destroyer or angel just doesnt make sense in context of the end of Z. He appears to have more freedom then those positions.
I have an idea. Let's just drop GT and say the new future that Trunks (the DB Super one) went to is a timeline where something happened to their Trunks and he just exists there. They all know how time travel works and they would accept the new Trunks as their own. Like how Bulma and Vegeta were close to future Trunks as their son. They can just say that Trunks coming back in Super again created a new timeline again and is no longer the GT timeline. Trunks DID change the future again. He warned about Goku Black, Zamasu, etc...

GT Goku was the strongest up to that point, with super though it gets hazy, if gt Goku had ultra instinct( which he probably does in gt since nothing goes against it) or God ki then he is stronger than super Goku for sure.

Short answer is he probably learnt the power gohan has so he doesn’t have to transform anymore. Also isn’t bothered about becoming stronger because he’s old and has reached his limits. At this point he’s 60-ish. Not much for for improvement so it’s time to improve others.

ah guys, really, i don't want to sound edgy and i admit my ignorance on dragonball in general (except for the anime version of it, z and gt)
it really should have ended there or at least a "Super" that takes place "mostly" on earth and with the new mentioned fighter z like pan or Ub

Dragonball GT isn't canon and it takes place on an alternate universe toryiama said so End Of Z goku is actually end of super goku but i mean end of super like any arc of super that is to come and goku in end of z is basically he mastered ultra instict and its kind of an angel now i think so after the end of super they should remake the last dragon ball z episode to a more super animation

Grand priest & belmond n all angels should turnout to be a bad guy (except whis, his sister, beerus & chappa) n then a all at war occurs where beerus dies, jiren kills belmond for killing his teacher, goku n whis defeat the grand priest together, save the zenos from captivity or something. Meanwhile Frieza switches sides n vegeta finally ends him for good. n after its over the whole angels n destroyers get erased by the zenos n even ssb, ssg, ultra ego & ultra instinct powers. n then end of z happens now ss4, 5 n beyond.

No, gt takes into consideration dbz levels and characters only, goku even compares hildo with the old dbz buu.
And in gt we didn't see gohan beast, orange piccolo, dr hedo, gamma 1, kibito and shin unfused, beerus, broly, whis, zeno or daishinkan. Toriyama already said gt is a totally different reality from what he writes now. The moment toriyama goes past end of z in super, it will probably be totally different from gt events, even the power scale will be different.

I still don’t think Super is before End of Z, personally just feel Toriyama didn’t anticipate Super…End of Z definitely works if Super never happened. I just think it’s ridiculous that Omega Shenron is more powerful than Beerus, Jiren, Golden Frieza or even Goku black(supreme Kai/divine)….Goku could be calm and demeanor as a Master but the Canon end of Z episode he’s never accessed divine power and only uses up to SSJ

cuz he didnt. he was done with DBZ until he saw what the horrible american live action movie did with his franchise. so that made him wanna start up the anime again for the fans. which is cool of him to do btw. say what u want of dbs but he cared enough to ressurect a franchise he was pretty much tired of

The entirety of OG GT is with Goku's potential as a mortal. It's a different timeline where DBS never happened.
I'd love to see some of the concepts of GT retold Toriyama style, but yeah you can't just slate OG GT in after Super and expect it to make any sense.

The only reason End of Z Goku feels like a master is because he fought Uub who was Kid Buu level. I'm not factoring in retcons, I'm looking at it based on the original run. None of this Uub has God ki nonsense. I'll factor that in down the line when the End of Z gets retconned. Back to the matter at hand, Goku's power didn't drop after becoming a child in GT, he couldn't use Instant Transmission nor could he maintain Super Saiyan 3. Not to mention, he came across stronger opponents than Kid Buu. Still on the original run. Starting with Rilldo. If End of Z Goku fought Rilldo while in Base, he may not have had a great showing. He wouldn't have looked like a "master". Becoming a child didn't kill the mystique of End of Z Goku, continuing onwards did. Even if Goku remained an adult in GT, there's always escalation in terms of conflict, always someone stronger. This trend would continue regardless.

Also since end of z Goku is after super it also means super saiyan 4 is also more powerful than all of super’s transformations cause super saiyan 4 is after all of supers transformations and we both know the super saiyan form you get after is above your prievous one so super saiyan 4 is after super meaning super saiyan 4 is stronger than all of supers transformations also since omega shenron almost beat end of z Goku aka someone that can beat everyone in super means omega shenron can also beat beerus and whis and Jiren and all gods and all angels and grand priest and Omni king and everyone in super too cause he was beating end of z goku
End of z is no longer canon, we are going beyond end of z, ever since the production of dbs super hero this made end of z noncanon.
