    My HP Chromebook had the same problems, black screen, no power light, dead.
    I took it to a local computer repair place. They diagnosed, motherboard needs to be replaced, they quote me a $300.00 to $500.00 repair.
    I came back home, saw this video.
    I opened my device, did the same think. Power came back, my Chromebook is working just fine.
    Thank you so much !!!!!!

    And I just realized something. I've been working at a school district since 2017. I saw one of your videos in 2015-6 when I was looking for a new job, and liked the thought of working in a school district, so I guess you're partially responsible. It's been a crazy, stressful year, but I still love my work. And I definitely identify with the sanitizing.... even before Corona times...
    I like RUclips because it's just regular people making videos for other regular people, and whether they realize it or not, they have an effect.

    Yes. I recently purchased one of these non-working from a pawn for cheap, and it was a pretty easy fix. Was able to rehome it pretty quickly.

Pulled it. waited. pushed it back in. The power switch on side worked. orange led on. screen came up. Thank you.

      I need to add that I first disconnected the B&o speakers thinking they were battery leads , then my auto side said they did not meet color coding for power. I am an idiot at times. They were fascinating little structures to eyeball. The batt leads were under black material . thanks again.

I had purchased two 2021 versions of the HP 14 X360 Chromebooks for my kids to use for school purposes. 1 of these Chromebooks would not power up a day ago, and this video still applies to the 2021 model. Brandon, what do you think of the quality differences between various Chromebook brands? My own experience is that Lenovo's Thinkpad series is quite good, HP and Acer are much worse qualitywise.

    • @bbishoppcm
      @bbishoppcm  3 года назад +3

      Chromebooks are often outsourced to other companies like HF Bitland and not built in-house like the Thinkpad and Yoga, so quality-wise, they’re all very similar.

      We are using what we have; I’ve stopped buying parts for them. The N21’s drop-dead date was supposed to be this year, but Google extended it another year due to device shortages in schools resulting from the pandemic. Basically, once Google drops support for it, it will no longer recieve updates (but should still function).

    My obnoxious opinion of HP products has always been that they are cheap un-reliable junk. I remember at my last IT job, we supported a fleet of about a few hundred (at the time) HP Chromebook 14 G4 and G5 units. They had the same issue as well. Flimsy. Interestingly, the issue was resolved by CTRL + Refresh + Power. I don't remember the exact key combination, but it was something like that.
