IKR? That's why I love watching gymnastics from the 80s and 90s the most cause it has both the difficulty and the dance and personality. Daniella Silivas, Svetlana Boginskaya, and Mo Huilan (who was a total badass!) were probably my favs to watch
Maybe you can answer me this question. What is it called when the gymnast is on the high bar in a handstand position and she turns? Sometimes they turn once, sometimes only half a turn. It's hard to explain and it's really bugging me.
The distance between the bars become higher so there is no way to enter like as Nadia. You can see that if you notice just in the beging that from the up bar she can put both of her legs in the lower bar, and she was short. That's why they are not doing it :)
Wonder why they don't do those crazy looking mounts like at the beginning where they do flips over the low bar and catch the high. Is it cause the bars are so far apart now? I don't know the technicalities of gymnastics, but I've seen stuff like this, and I wonder what is it that Nastia Liukein does that is considered to be so much harder than everyone else. Is it that some of this stuff just appears harder by illusion but really isn't?
Why didn't you ever show the whole Li Ya double jaegar combo? (I think that's He Kexin at 2:08, but it's only the first half of the move.) Just wondering, lovely montage!
Hey, MastepanovaFan, why don't you put other videos from the COP? Yes, it's not a video on the "guide type", but, you helped me a lot learning the difficulty and the differences among them, so why don't you put other videos from the COP²?
Jordyn Wieber is doing the double double now. She has the same skills that shawn johnson has. A 2 1/2 vault, a full twist on beam, a double double layout on uneven bars. I'ts only missing the double double tuck on floor!
Sure, but I've been pleasantly surprised by the Bhardwaj, I think there's 3 gymnasts doing it! And the Zuchold is being done, much more more difficult now than when its namesake did it. The main issue with the Strong aside from the distance is that bails must end in handstand and it's technically a bail- that pretty much rules it out.
Gaylord 1 IS here, it has been done by Mo Huilan, Bi Wenjing, Meng Fei, Zhang Yufei and a few others- all Chinese. It is called the Mo Salto in women's. The Gaylord 2 has only ever been done by Zhou Duan. Kovacs..no, but Anna Li has said she will work on it..
Well a few are unique or almost- like Ma Yanhong's dismounts and the triple back. The counter kim and Gaylord 1 and 2 need to be swung out of to be worth doing and it's very difficult, as is doing them without an extra giant. The new code will allow for them. I don't expect to see a Strong or Bhardwaj again, very very difficult.
What difficulty in the COP would german giants be??? would have thought its immensely difficult to swing inverted, you dont see many gymnasts doing them, certainly women anyway except (I cant think of her name but she Ukranian!)
how come nowadays gymnasts only do a little leap to "mount" onto the bars instead of those beautiful flips like those at the beginning of this video? isit banned?
No they haven't, nothing here is illegal. Currently the counter-kim and Mo Salto can't be performed because they need an empty swing and they would be penalised for that. In the new code, it will be allowed. A lot are so incredibly difficult that only a handful or less have ever performed them. That is why they're rare.
Why are people not doing these kind of moves nowadays I wonder... It would be even more exciting to watch artistic gymnastic if they entered like 0:12. Same thing on the beam and floor.
Lol, I don't do bars cos it's difficult for my body shape and size. My coach let me off cos I always seem like I'm gonna cry when he makes me do them. Since I only compete in team events and we have enough people, I was allowed to focus on my other events xD
not to offend any gymnist out there but gymnastics back then to me was alot more difficult and unique.. but ofcorse i'm not a gymnist only a fan of it so i can't really say but it looks harder back then..
Okay maybe it's just me, and the video is amazing I know nothing about gymnastics so I applaud everyone who can, but uhh who are the people to complain people from the Chinese team for the 2008 olympics weren't the right age when some of these girls on these teams look like freakin 10 year olds!
Yeh, it's a cool skill but I thought they downgraded it like the one arm giant in order to deter the gymnasts from doing it or I actually thought they had totally banned it cz they thought it was so dangerous
The dismounts from when the bars were closer are amazing to watch!

I miss these amazing moves...especially the mounts!
It is Lori Strong of Canada at the 1988 Olympics. The move she did is named after her
can't get enough of this!!
MostepanovaFan i love your videos you have some of the best montages ever thanks!!!!!! :D
strength and beauty

Definitely fun to watch.

@Lasiluuranko Cause the cool mounts aren't worth anything anymore
the double double laid out is rated as???
Since Elise Ray did it I want to know, and thanks for this montages!!!
Great montage!
Who is that at 00:37 - 00:38???
They look like Dolls that can Bend anyway.. o.o But its Pretty Amazing.

It is Ayaka Sahara of Japan at the 2003 Worlds
Awesome!!! Triple back!!!!!!!
Why didn't you ever show the whole Li Ya double jaegar combo? (I think that's He Kexin at 2:08, but it's only the first half of the move.) Just wondering, lovely montage!
Yeah I discovered she does one, and PPL used to. Ruby is a little sloppy but her routine is amazing.
0:40 lovely slow-mo
what difficulty is the Li Ya dismount rated as?

It seems to me the code ought to figure how to make exceptions in cases like that. The more stringent the rules, the less variety and originality.
@theblinddonkey Shantessa Pama...she quit gymnastics a few years ago but was incredibly talented.
@fun2beAgymnast thanks. I checked her out, she seems fearless.
Caramba, os técnicos fazem as gurias desafiaram a normalidade!!!😰😲🙃👩
Can anyone explain how to tell the difference between all the pirouettes?
Really cool video
Thankyou :) It is Lori Strong of Canada

women gymnasts... best women in the world in every way!!
The very last video in this should be some Chris Farley like dude trying some of these and failing horribly, haha!!
were do u do ur show? i do my at Kelvin Hall
wow this is amazing
i got my flyaway today but compared to all this thats nothing
What difficulty in the COP would german giants be??? would have thought its immensely difficult to swing inverted, you dont see many gymnasts doing them, certainly women anyway except (I cant think of her name but she Ukranian!)
peng peng lee is currently doing the pak full, what is the strong?
The song is a cover of Duran Duran's Girls on Film. Have no idea who sings it but go find the original version of Duran Duran. It's 1000 times better.
triple dismount is awesome. I wonder why more gymnast don't use?
its awesome!!
The thing is that I don't understand the difference between L grip or whatever other grips there are
Because the 16-years-old rule is pretty new. At the times in which some of these were filmed, the girls were legal to compete.
Sucks most of these moves arent being performed!
who does the triple back dismounts?
thats funny i cant find this song anywhere whats the grp or song name?
Okay, got it. Thanks a lot!
What's the official name and difficulty of the skill at 2:39?
WOW! I can barely follow some of these moves because of quickness and intricacy.
Hei MostepanovaFan...
Didn't Daria Joura perform Clear Hip 1.5 in 2006 Worlds EF???
They were both Shantessa Pama
at 3:11 was that a triple or quad twist???
how come nowadays gymnasts only do a little leap to "mount" onto the bars instead of those beautiful flips like those at the beginning of this video? isit banned?
Ruby's Harrold's Bhardwaj is pretty decent as well
what is the full turn on the bars called?!
Nobody does the really difficult skills now.
tht press handstand on bars looks REALLY freaky..
This stuff seems sooo dangerous
No they haven't, nothing here is illegal. Currently the counter-kim and Mo Salto can't be performed because they need an empty swing and they would be penalised for that. In the new code, it will be allowed. A lot are so incredibly difficult that only a handful or less have ever performed them. That is why they're rare.
daria joura performs a clear hip 1.5 pirouette if i'm not wrong
Why are people not doing these kind of moves nowadays I wonder... It would be even more exciting to watch artistic gymnastic if they entered like 0:12. Same thing on the beam and floor.
at 1:17, did they spell Khorkina's name wrong?
ohh girls on film:)
Would it be possible for a woman gymnast to do a gaylord 1 or 2 or kovac on the higher bar? Has anyone ever tried or done it?
what is the move at 0:46 called?
What's the very first move called?
1:55 that's my shawn! (:
Aye seriously why doesn't anyone do this any more.
Thanks
@BeachBunny13 I think you're talking of pirouettes.
Triple flyaway??? Who did those?
Yes it was done by a schoolgirl! There's a few who have done the counter-kim in combination, but none from toe-on.
@TheMoonHadFan i know right id like to see them try this.
It really hard to do the Strong coz the distance between the bars now are different from back then.
Im an icedancer and I my muscles still hurt when I watch this XD a triple lutz has nothing on this XD
who does an 1,5 twist 1:45?
i'm almost 18 now, but I';ve always wanted to do the bars.
cool, is she an elite gymnast yet? cuz she looks kinda small like a junior.
Lol, I don't do bars cos it's difficult for my body shape and size. My coach let me off cos I always seem like I'm gonna cry when he makes me do them. Since I only compete in team events and we have enough people, I was allowed to focus on my other events xD
I BELIEVED IS BRENDA MAGAÑA .
not to offend any gymnist out there but gymnastics back then to me was alot more difficult and unique.. but ofcorse i'm not a gymnist only a fan of it so i can't really say but it looks harder back then..
I will pay someone to compete the arabian mount! my fave!!
Okay maybe it's just me, and the video is amazing I know nothing about gymnastics so I applaud everyone who can, but uhh who are the people to complain people from the Chinese team for the 2008 olympics weren't the right age when some of these girls on these teams look like freakin 10 year olds!
Вот это девушки!
He hardly helped her. He just spotted her.
Peng Peng Lee stil does an excellent Bhardwaj
who the fuck would dislike this?!?!
Yeh, it's a cool skill but I thought they downgraded it like the one arm giant in order to deter the gymnasts from doing it or I actually thought they had totally banned it cz they thought it was so dangerous
Who's the girl at 1:32?
no wait, what the move at 0:58?
@BeachBunny13 It's called a pirouette :-)
Marine Debauve from France does a clear hip 1.5.
It's not much more dangerous than any other release, it is just much harder.
@BeachBunny13 You're welcome. :)
@Lasiluuranko look sure its cooler thats way but its really hard to enter that way belive me i do gymnastics
anyone know gymnast at 0:35 ????
