Neil...you blow my mind! NOBODY knows that song! It's one of the all time classics. Even today, the album by Love "Forever Changes" is ranked by "Rolling Stone Magazine" as the 48th best album of all time! (98% of the people today have never heard of the group) I was a young boy when my older hippie brother brought that album home....after a few times listening to it...I WAS HOOKED! "Alone again or" is one of my favorite albums of all-time. I've listened to it over five-fhousand times. And "Alone again or" is a haunting beautiful song. I love the way Bruce Bosnick brought the horn section in. And obviously the guitar picking and the way the song flows is off the charts. Thank you for posting that phenomenal song in your lessons. P.S. Originally...Bryan MacLean named the song "Alone Again." It was Arthur Lee that added the "Or."
@TGAcousticLessons your catalog is amazing - you have so many fantastic songs done so well... I've bought a couple lessons, but I think time to sign up. Thanks for all the hard work
Nicely done! I grew up in LA and remember going to all the clubs in H'wood back then - Love seemed to be playing at all of them. It was hard NOT to see them performing, lol!
I've wondered who played guitar on their single. I'm not sure if Brian James was in the band at this time. Edit: It appears to be Roman Jugg playing in the video by The Damned. Very nice! Outstanding performance we are watching right here as well. As the man says, this is not an easy song. It gets mangled often.
My favorite band and my favorite album of all time. Why they weren't Huge I will never know although I have read the biography so I understand it now.. Thank You So Much
Oh man! Thanks! I learned this way back then, and I learned it wrong, so I could never get the timing right to play along with the record (one of many record I probably wore out trying to learn things). I'm amazed how hard it is to UNLEARN the wrong way, but now you've given me a solid reference!
Very cool to hear from somebody who has struggled with this in the past. It is quite challenging, but hopefully our lesson will get you on the path! Neil
thank u neil U r so kind to give props to bryan and what an artist he was. Johnny Echols was the lead gtrst for the first 3..3 1/2 records. Bryan a solid rythm player and arthur cld play a little of everything..pretty decent harp player ..hammond organ..drums..but what a singer and front man WOW
This chap is a very skilled and knowledged guitar man. Pity he is only willing to impart his guitar skills for a fee only. No free lunch. Nothing is free even music.
With all due respect, we at Totally Guitars teach for a living. It's our job, and it's fair to get paid for it, which should be the case for everyone around the globe. And make no mistake, lessons like this require a ton of work, if you only knew. I hope you get paid for your job too. All the best, Vanessa (btw there are 89 free lessons on the site)
Not true, sir! Actually Arthur played all those neat little folky 12 string intros and other 12 string parts on the recording. Johnny and Bryan were by no means always present on the recording of the album - despite what Johnny and others may have suggested to the contrary.
Yes, indeed, you may well be right there. Dracken Theaker who played with Love briefly around the time of Four Sail made a point of drawing attention to briefly Arthur's neat 12 string intros on the Forever Changes album in an interview for Record Collecter magazine in a feature on the Love group. It was neither Johnny nor Bryan who played those 12 string parts. @Don'tPlayWithGuns
@@seldomseenslimfat4758 Arthur did not play guitar on Forever Changes. Bryan played all the 12 string parts and Johnny played the lead parts. At that time Arthur could play organ and tambourine. This is stated in numerous articles over the years. Bryan stated that he would bring in new songs frequently and Arthur would reject them. Then a few days later Arthur would show Bryan his new song with new words and a couple chord changes. Bryan said this happened more than once. I also am a huge fan of Arthur, but. Also the Wrecking Crew did play on a couple songs on Forever Changes.
Hi thank you for this! I will buy this lesson when I’m a bit more advanced . I would LOVE to learn andmoreagain and red telephone- if you ever make a lesson for these- I wonder if these are less advanced ? Thanks again, will check out your other lessons on your website 😁
Hi Neil, I purchased for $6.97 the lesson for Alone Again Or, yesterday. I am signed into my account, but I don’t see the lesson anywhere. I see the free preview, but not the in depth lesson I purchased. Your site, on the member page, is difficult to navigate…
Please send a message to our staff support@totallyguitars.com Alternatively hit the 'Help' link at the top of every page, then 'Contact' to send them an email. Neil
Yes, I’m logged in, but I don’t see my username in the “upper right”. And the “Help” link is useless. It’s just a general info video, not specific to my issue. Why so complicated? I was hoping you would just send a link to my lesson. It’s been days now, playing arums with this…
If you don't see your username in the upper right corner, you are not logged in. When you hit the Help link there is a Contact link that is on the next page.
I was logged in, with my username and password, when I made the purchase. And I received an email receipt confirming my purchase. Now, however, I do not even see a sign-in window, to sign back in. Can you at least send me a link here, or by email, that will take me directly to the member sign-in page? The site is very confusing, everywhere you look there are upsell promotions. I thought I would start by purchasing just one song, that I am particularly interested in. Please at least send me a direct link to where I can sign back in. Thanks!
@TGAcousticLessons WHY DO YOU TRASH ARTHUR LEE'S GUITAR PLAYING? KINDA COLD TO THROW THAT JAB IN A VIDEO WHERE YOU COVER A SONG HE MADE FAMOUS. ALSO, YOU ARE WRONG ABOUT THAT AS HE WAS MUCH BETTER THAN YOU GIVE HIM CREDIT FOR. HE WAS DEFINITELY MORE THAN GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY THIS AND OTHER LOVE SONGS, AND THERE ARE LIVE VIDEOS OF HIM PLAYING ALL THE PARTS TO THIS AND OTHERS. JUST SEARCH ON RUclips...
Sorry, I didn't mean to trash Arthur's playing. He just couldn't play it as clean as Bryan. It is great that he kept performing it for so many years though. Neil
Im 17 and im glad i to see how people still remember the “forever changes” album. Mr. Neil your cover was excellent thank you. ❤
Thanks for the message and I am thrilled to hear someone your age appreciates this great band.
Neil

You lived every music lover's dream. To go back to the strip in 1966 and see Love and The Doors.
Could you do some more songs by love? "A House is Not a Motel" would be great!
Nice! Calexico does a great version of this as well.
The cover of this song by the Damned is great.
+Eric Davis My favorite version. Great song!
UFO all the way

Can't stand it.

I love how you talk about the band and the album
So passionate and great
what a legend this guy is
Love were somewhere between The Byrds and The Doors. Bryan McLean was the author of this gem. His solo CD on Sundaze are essential for Love fans.

That's nice work!
Great playing and thorough lesson, man. My nails are far too flimsy to pick with so my sound isn’t quite as bright as I’d like
you blow my mind! the best!!
Lets take it easy on Arthur Lee's reputation people. I donut think he was the world's greatest guitar player. He was, however, something else.
Awesome man ! Tanx !!!!

UFO did the best remake of this song ever! Produced
by Rock Icon Ron Nevison.
The acoustic guitar is too quiet and it's rushed.
wow. good take on Bryan's classic opener to Loves third album! travis picking ?
Arthur didn't play any guitar on the album, curiously. But then Johnny and Bryan were superb playing together

Rick Allen I think it was Bryan on this one
@@rsands9 It was Bryan.

Didn't sound like he was trashing him. Just an honest assessment. Relax and ease up on the CAPS. ;)
