Love and respect for Amnesty International and all the work they do.
Amnesty International, is a constant reference when it comes to looking out for Human Rights. Gold Lake, having always been a fan of Amnesty International's efforts and work, had been wanting to find a way of helping raise awareness within their humble possibilities. That's why, after asking Amnesty International what they thought Gold Lake could do to add their grain of sand, together they came to the conclusion that it would be a great idea to record a cover of one of their all-time favorite songs, with friends who play in amazing bands, and then have that video reach as many young music fans as possible in order to bring them closer to Amnesty International's message and perhaps to knowing a little more about the problems that many lesser privileged people have around the world.
In this case, and with the recent increase of violence in many regions in the world, they chose to shine a light on the hardships of migrant people, whom as everyone knows live through extremely harsh situations in their voyages seeking a new future for themselves or running away from war and other political conflicts. And what better song than the beautiful "Alone Again Or" by Love, who managed to make people think for themselves with their songs at a time, the end of the sixties, when there was so much unrest.
And so Gold Lake got together with some friends who play in bands such as Here We Go Magic, Beirut, Bahamas or Sufjan Stevens to create this video. Talented friends such as trumpet player Kyle Resnick (Beirut, The National), violinist Pico Alt (Sufjan Steven), bass player Steven Mertens (Here We Go Magic, Moldy Peaches, Adam Green) and Bahamas' back-up singer Carleigh Aikins joined Gold Lake the studio and their pals from The Wild Honey Pie recorded it on video.

I'm old enough to remember seeing Love play this live in 1970. This is an excellent cover, and Carleigh has a lovely voice.

Incredible. Absolutely incredible. Beautiful voices and precise instrumentation! This ranks right up there with Calexico's cover...perfection. This song, hell, the entire Forever Changes album, is a timeless classic. I'm glad there are people today that appreciate Love and their music.

Excellent cover of one of the best songs ever from the best Album ever. People claim Forever Changes is dark but I see it as a light and shadows Album. Forever Changes is right up there with anything the great composers through the centuries ever composed . Arthur Lee and Bryan Maclean's Masterpiece has grown to have generations of fan disciples . People have different arcane interpretations of this Bryan Maclean song but I think the song is simply about a person who wants to stay at home with the person they love rather than go out on the town .
Completely agree with a lot of the comments here ! A beautiful version of an incredible song ! Ten out of ten for the performance and another ten out of ten for choice of song !

goldlakeband Back in the day, I played in a 4-piece cover band The Flipside in the city of Lakewood in Los Angeles County, Calif., circa 1964-'69. We included four Love songs in our repertoire, two of their Top 40 hits, My Little Red Book, by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, and 7 And 7 Is, and two album cuts, Can't Explain (not to be confused with The Who's I Can't Explain) and My Flash On You, both off the band's self-titled LP Love. One cannot say this about all recording artists from the '60s, but in my opinion, worth enough to buy a small cup of coffee, Love's music stands the test of time.
