I’m 62 years old and listened to a lot of Deep Purple over the years but have never heard this one. After hearing it, it’s unmistakably them and their style/sound. Thanks for introducing me to a new one!
Always liked this song from when I purchased this LP back in the day. My Women from Tokyo is another gem on the Who do we think we are LP. Also try "Speed King", "Flight of the Rat", "Demons Eye", "Fireball" and "The Mule" (this one is a bit different but very good focus on the organ and drums). Great reaction and more Deep Purple please.
Who Do We Think We Are is the seventh studio album by the English hard rock band Deep Purple, released in 1973. It was Deep Purple's last album with singer Ian Gillan and bassist Roger Glover until 1984’s Perfect Strangers. 💜💜 My God Jon Lord & that Hammond 🔥💥🔥💥
IMHO Perfect Strangers is not only Deep Purples best overall album (and they have MANY really great albums).. it's one of the top albums of the 1980s!!!
The part you referred to as sounding like ambulances and couldn't determine what instrument it was, it was all Jon Lord keyboards and Hammond organ. It's probably the best studio keyboard solo I've ever heard
I like your reaction. At 61 y.o. I've listened to a lot of Deep Purple. This song for me personally is by far my favorite track by them. Highway Star is second. Jon Lord is an insane keyboardist, and that solo was just that, insane. I played growing up, but Berkley College of Music killed it for me.
Another cool reaction..thanks.. speed king and flight of the rat. Some more purple gems.. that chaotic section you heard was John Lord on the Hammond organ.
This is a great album , you should check out Deep Purple Made in Japan , live album . Deep Purple at their best . Space trucking is the song you need to hear .
Go DEEP my friend, from the same album and give a listen to Place in Line, every member of the band provides a wonderful performance on this burning blues number, the vocals will surprise you as well ....I guarantee you will not be disappointed ... go blues, Purple style
One thing upsets me more than "people" who refer to Yes via Owner of a lonely heart. It is the reference to deep purple via Smoke on the water. Songs just like this one bloody EXEMPLIFY what I'm saying 😀
I was hoping for "Mean Streak" however my brother (your face was f**king priceless my man) how about "Hungry Daze" story of DP, Under the Gun, Gypsy's Kiss, Strangewayze, Wicked Ways, Please lets see your reaction to "Strange Kind of Woman " LIVE from MADE IN JAPAN some of the most incredible guitar-vocal interchanges EVER ON STAGE
Please do a reaction on "Flight of the Rat "by Deep Purple, judging by your reaction on Rory Gallagher etc, you will love it. Great solos. Also "No one came" from their next album.
Slow down the intro of Rat Bat Blue and you have the intro to "Woman From Tokyo" to the exact note. Rat Bat Blue is the perfect showcase for organist Jon Lord's prowess. Thanks for the reaction.
Always thought WDWTWA was an underrated album. Not quite up there with In Rock, Machine Head or Burn, but not far from. Made in japan is of course in a class of its own.

This is one of their best sleepers.
I didn't even realize I needed a little _Rat Bat Blue_ today. Feeling much better now!! 💜
