1. In automotive suspension, a control arm, also known as an A-arm, is a hinged suspension link between the chassis and the suspension upright or hub that carries the wheel.
The inboard (chassis) end of a control arm is attached by a single pivot, usually a rubber bushing. It can thus control the position of the outboard end in only a single degree of freedom, maintaining the radial distance from the inboard mount. Although not deliberately free to move, the single bushing does not control the arm from moving back and forth; this motion is constrained by a separate link or radius rod.
This is in contrast to the wishbone. Wishbones are triangular and have two widely spaced inboard bearings. These constrain the outboard end of the wishbone from moving back and forth, controlling two degrees of freedom, and without requiring additional links.
Most control arms form the lower link of a suspension. A few designs use them as the upper link, usually with a lower wishbone. The additional radius rod is then attached to the upper arm.

Where is the CV joint and axel? They have to be removed otherwise it's not possible. Don't seem to locate axel in video. Strange.
My friend, pay more attention to the video. The CV axle has an inboard joint on the transmission side of the axle, as well as an outboard universal joint on the wheel side of the axle. Both of these joints are protected by a rubber cover called a CV boot.

This video mislead a important info the automatic transmission car the front bolt don't have space to be removed has to lower the subframe

remove all Transmission foundation bolts jackup the Transmission & remove arm frount bolt .... It is very defficult

Transmission sits in front of bolt that needs to be removed. you could drop the subframe but poor design on this bolt location.

I don't have any problem with my control arm. Just i showed the way to replace it. Ckeck the bushings condition of your control arms.

What exactly do you mean;
This video WILL NOT WORK for a 2010 Corolla. I am finding this out 3 hours into the job, after everything has been removed except I can't get the front bolts out. On the driver's side, the transmission pan blocks the bolt from coming out. On the passenger side, the oil filter housing blocks the bolt. Please do not waste your time and effort to attempt this job unless you have time to drop the subframe or remove motor mounts to jack up the engine and trans.

Sockets 17mm for nuts and bolt at ball joint area, 19mm for sub frame bolts, Long 19mm wrench for sub frame bolt nut, 21mm for wheel lugs, Soft dead blow hammer and pry bars for massaging the arm out.

Bad replacement. You should tightened the suspension arm after u move the car down.
There's a note in the Beck and Arnley box that says to do that; I wouldn't have known otherwise. Ugh, not looking forward to doing this on my 1999 corolla. I have a feeling it's going to be a pain.
I think what you are trying to say is that the bushing bolts should just be put in. Then the jack should have been removed from under the disk. Then the ball joint re attached. Only after all this THEN tighten the Bushing bolts. In the video the bushing bolts were tightened first in the wrong position.
Just preload the bushings by jacking control arm to ride height. No need to put the wheels on to do that

There’s no transmission. If it had a trans. It would keep the front bolt being removed.
Sub frame needs to be loosened and transmission pan jacked up slightly. All while prying down on the back end of the control arm. Two person job because of Toyotas crap design there.
