I guess when these companies start sending me free channel locks maybe I will struggle thru a few joints using there hard to adjust designs. Until then good ol trustee channel locks... why reinvent the wheel
Good looking install. I think they are starting to change code to where the expansion tank needs a strap or be secured to structure. I have also been called on having the drip leg installed on the horizontal like that as well instead of making sure that debris will fall into it and not pass over the drip leg.
Great install. Step by step. Really interesting. I'm looking to get my heater replace soon. I've seen installations where they swap the gate valve of the discharge at the bottom for a ball valve in order to be able to flush it faster and remove more debris. Would you recommend against it?
Absolutely replace the gate for a 1/4 turn ball valve. Infact I should of done just that but the valve felt good. Was not sticking and just felt good when I operated it.
We only install Rheem Pro series because it has the White Rogers mechanical gas control valve. We replace 4 to 1 tanks with Honeywell digital gas control valves. Also some of the oldest tanks in have replaced over 30 plus years had the White Rogers gas valves.
Nice to see a video where the plumber is using realistic tools that I have at home and not $250 wrenches. Love those Klein flip sockets though.

This particular one is Rheem but what brand would you recommend personally as a top-shelf heater? Happy Hollidays 👍

@ Thanks a bunch. I knew there is a reasoning behind it. 👍
