  • Vlog Ep.47 - Big Algonquin Canoe Trip - Day 1 - Lake Opeongo + New Announcement! This video is about our canoe camping trip in Algonquin Park's interior, starting from Lake Opeongo, plus a cool new announcement about a brand new 360° VR (virtual reality) camera we brought along with us, to bring you a more immersive experience to enjoy! We filmed select, interesting moments throughout the trip each day with the brand new 2017 Samsung Gear 360° 4K camera! Each day's 360° video clips will be in the vlog's description (linked here below), and after the trip we'll post an unabridged version of all the 360° clips for those who would like to enjoy a longer VR experience in the park :)
    __
There are several different ways to enjoy the 360° VR video linked below:
    1. Select desktop web browsers like Google's Chrome, or Firefox will allow you to scroll through the 360° VR video by clicking / dragging the image on the screen left, right, up and down, so you can look around in the environment.
    2. View the 360° VR video on your smartphone or tablet using RUclips's Mobile app (a free app on iOS or Android devices), which will allow you to pan and tilt your phone around in 3D space, almost as if it's a window in front of you that you can look through to see the VR environment around you - the RUclips Mobile app uses your device's internal gyroscopes to determine where you're looking... which is really cool!
    3. View the 360° VR video through Google's Cardboard app (a free app on iOS and Android devices), and a relatively inexpensive head-mounted VR viewer, with lenses designed to help you focus on your smartphone's screen. The app creates a stereoscopic version of the 360° video we filmed, which you can then put into a head-mounted VR viewer, which allows you to look around and almost feel like you're there inside the VR environment. The app uses your phone's own internal gyroscopes to determine where you're looking. Please note, your VR experience with this method depends on your phone's resolution and the quality of the VR headset you purchase. I personally own a "Merge 360°" VR headset which works with a range of different phones, and sells online at B&H Photo for around $79 CDN / $59 US, though you can find inexpensive VR viewers for as little as $15 - $20 by searching online. There are many to choose from. You generally get what you pay for though, and more expensive models will typically be more comfortable to wear for extended periods, or come equipped with more built-in adjustments for precisely aligning with your eye. Before buying any VR viewer, please ensure it will fit your phone. You may also want to enjoy this method while wearing stereo headphones.
    4. View the 360° VR video through an Oculus Rift, or HTC Vive, which are much more expensive VR devices with their own software built-in.
Today's 360° video clips are moments from our paddle across the calm, wide open North Arm of Lake Opeongo, as well as the beautiful sunset from our island campsite! Though before you check it out, please don't forget to like, share or comment on today's vlog and let us know what you thing! Thanks! It really helps us to create more content like this :) ...360° VR video: • BIG ALGONQUIN CANOE TR...

Hey everyone! Hope you enjoy the first video of our new Algonquin Park vlog series! We’re excited to announce this is our first time bringing a new 360° VR camera with us too, and we’re stoked to share this new experience with you! They’ll be lightly edited moments from each day of the trip, and you’ll find today’s 360° video (of us paddling on Lake Opeongo, as well as a beautiful sunset from our island campsite) linked in the description. There are many different ways to enjoy the 360° videos on RUclips, and we’ve included some helpful tips in the description too. After the trip, I’ll post an unabridged version of all the 360° clips for those who would like to enjoy a longer VR experience in the park. Also, before you check out the 360° video, please don't forget to like, share or comment on today's vlog and let us know what you think! Thanks for watching! :)

For me it was the first view of this 5 year old trip. Had I seen it 5 years ago I might of thought all YT'ers made video
like yours but ... after watching YT for 5 years this intro was THE BEST intro of the thousands I have watched. It felt
like you needed a storyboard to lay out the sequence and then you went out and filmed it. Way above and beyond the average.

Greetings from Prince Edward Island. I hopped over here after seeing Joe's winter camping video that he posted yesterday (Jan 17th 2020). Watching the first few minutes of this had me rolling with laughter, how much gear can a human pile on them. So much for "Hold my beer". I'm 56 and have camped a bit over the years. I follow Survival Lilly as well. Joe and Outdoor Gear Review are my other favs. I'm originally from Ontario, but live here now, (20 years). I think I was near Elephant Lake or Lake Benoir Camping once in the mid 90's. Well now, I must like and subscribe. Since I am an avid space buff, I got chills listening to the fantastic intro

The first 30 seconds is a jaw dropping build-up! That said, the whole sequence to the point where the canoe gets placed on the water is so captivating that I couldn't look away.

Goodness me, you guys can carry a lot of gear. You remind me when I used to carry almost a third of my own body weight, in tools and test gear and go off to service some of my 'off-grid' clients in their respective wilderness's. I too would sometimes simply fall over backwards, if I lean't back too far.
I just love watching your vid's, the quality is outstanding. The light especially is absolutely beautiful. You don't have to tell all of us you had a good time, we can see you did !!!
Always looking forward to your next vid. Keep up the good work C&J.

I love your videos! When I started watching I wished I could live near Canada's wilderness. Guess what? I am in the Adirondacks now. :) My goal of renting a camp cabin came true too. Thanks for getting me starting on my street of dreams! Love that cutie pie son of yours. Joy Lavoie
