Mellif M18 Powered High Volume Air Duster

  • It’s been a few weeks since recording this and I have some real world experience with it now. As far as blowing off forklifts the little M12 blower still is my preferred option. Mostly because I can stand up and do it from a little distance. Where this tool shines is in those tight areas. I wouldn’t say it’s as good as an air compressor but it’s close enough to keep from having to start it up. It does what it’s intended to do and it does it well.

    The LITERALLY ripped off Makita. I have had a Makita one for about a year now and besides the charge connector part the rest looks near identical to the lanyard/carabiner hook at the back and dust filter to the attachments using a near identical connector also you don't really need to twist the attachments in to place that is only when you remove it as they clip in to place when you push them in without you having to pull on the plastic release mechanism. Makita only includes the 5 blowing inflating attachments though (not the flexi hose or the deflating one but they do sell these as additional ones and they have others besides these and in the included pamphlet for the tool they advertise some of these accessories and for the flexi hose they advertise it as being for cleaning out electronics in hard to reach areas in an included photo which is useful for me as I do work on computers). If you want a good reliable branded one (it was around twice the cash though) go get the Makita the warranty will be better too and it has all the same features too but Makita also has extra available attachments and replacement filters and attachments

    Bought the Makita DAS180Z/ADSA01Z almost a year ago and has saved me a small fortune on air cans. The... er...chuck/collet/adapter or what ever you want to call it and the adapters look suspiciously the same, there's a lot of adapters for the DAS180Z/ADSA01Z and they are dirt cheap, might be worth picking one up to see if it the same.
    If it is I highly recommend the Blower Nozzle 191X15-3 + Long Nozzle Set 191X78-9 (the long nozzle attaches to the blower nozzle, which attaches to the blower), has easily been the most useful of all the attachments I bought. The back also looks the same and so if you can't find filters for it, the Makita ones should fit, there is also a secondary hepa filter you can attach to the back 191X29-2.
    Hope you have some fun with it :)

Not nearly the same pressure as from a air compressor but I would say its 2-3x more than the air output you'd get if you use the blower function on a shop vac. Note: it is pretty loud and has a slight (3-5sec) ramp up.

    • @FunkFPV
      @FunkFPV  Месяц назад +3

      Haha I just recorded a video where I talk about that. It’ll be out in a couple weeks. The title will have something to do with “ hydraulic tools”.
      To answer your question. Yes, 100% we get a lot of our new techs from automotive. They make the crossover easily and like it way more. Every one of them do it for the same reasons you’re talking about.

    • @00lightning
      @00lightning Месяц назад +2

      Just to add to funk's reply, I agree. Most of our guys started out on cars and I came from an automotive background too, and enjoy forklifts much better. There is some freedom in being a road tech. you're not usually stuck in the same shop day after day. But the downside to that is you're out in the elements a lot. So get used to being hot/cold/wet depending on the weather in your area. As far as the work it's self goes, if you can work on a car chances are you'll be ok on a forklift. The lp fuel systems are a little different, but most of them are simple. The hydraulic systems have a bit of a learning curve, but aren't bad either. I would say if you have the opportunity to make the switch, give it a try. I don't regret it one bit.
      We aren't union in my area, it might be different in your area though.

    This thing absolutely cannot replace canned air, at least not with electronics. Canned air has a property that cannot be replicated and this property is extremely important in electronics. The canned air is sometimes called "freeze spray" because going from a liquid to a gas absorbs enormous amounts of heat and that makes the spray extremely cold. So if you have a suspect component, you can either freeze it with the can or heat it with the soldering iron.

    I'm an hvac technician. My primary use for this tool would be to replace a canister of CO2 i lug around to blow dust off refrigerator condensers inside and cottonwood off RTU outside. If you think this tool could reduce the number of trips with a CO2 canister that is usually overkill, it sounds like a winner to me.

      Actually one of the videos I saw was a guy blowing out a condenser. Made me think it might be good for blowing out radiators.

      If you want a branded one Makita has their OWN GENUINE one that looks identical to this I have had it for a year and they have like 8-9 total attachments for it but only include 5 blowing ones (That clear hose is meant for blowing out dust from hard to reach areas like in the corners of a computer or something which is useful for me who works on computers). This one to me seems like they totally ripped off the Makita one besides the charging connector part the rest looks almost identical and even the attachments seem to have a similar connector to the Makita one. The hoses Makita sells as additional attachments and they have others too as additional purchases that Mellif does not have
