- Today we look at magnetic organization solutions.
We start off with the @LinusTechTips MCM Arches and Power Bar Key. I’ve had the XL holding my extension cord and jumper cables to my back door for a few weeks now and they have not fallen off. The small arches are also doing great keeping my USB cables organized.
Since recording this video LTT's other channel (Short Circuit) posted this video better explaining what these are actually used for.
• Cable management sucke...
The Gator Magnetics hooks are also doing great. Aside from holding my air hose extension I keep on my door to hold my hard hat and safety vest. The last one I attached to my tool box to hold my multimeter.
The thread gauge does what a thread gauge does.

Can't wait to watch this on WAN Show next week. Thanks for the vid! -LS
My pleasure. I love finding alternative uses for things that make life more convenient.
I love it when the guy who makes fun of bad welds and OSHA violations crosses over with the guy who makes fun of bad cable management and causes OSHA* violations.
*or the Canadian equivalent.
@@FunkFPVthey just spoke about your video on WAN show.
came here from WAN show
@@ganjagremlin came here BEFORE wan show. (Someone give me a cookie)
LTT sells silicone pads to put under the arches to resist sliding/scratches. It reduces the overall strength of the magnets if you are pulling it straight out but reduces sliding. For your application, it seems like it would be ideal.
You say you're not a very nice person. WRONG!
What you are is a very sarcastic person (FUNNY). We can all tell you are a very nice guy and probably a pretty damn good friend.
better to be a person that does nice things rather than a nice person 👍
Appreciate that ☺️
The magnetic line LTT put out is actually an amazing product line. Those power bar magnets are genius.
This was great wasn't thinking about uses for those magnetic clips beyond electronics. This is why we watch you. Keep being you.
Appreciate it 😎👍🏻
The thread checker with magnets is an outstanding idea, I'll have to get one.
I’ve used it a few times and was like “why didn’t I do this sooner” 😁
I love your channel. As a native NYer I speak fluent sarcasm so to me your channel is the best. I do, however, sometimes hate your channel because you make me run out and buy stuff. I am in love with those Gator Magnets. My fiance approves because he tells everyone he's marrying his mechanic. LOL.
Thanks for the great videos. They brighten my day.
I wish I married a mechanic. It’s got to be handy have one around 😜
"Apple's stupid cable ..." This guy completely speaks my language
To be fair I thought that was a official name for it 😜
Came here from WAN Show!
Nice 😎👍🏻 I was surprised to see that 😊
I've found that staying well organized keeps me sane so I love little organizational doodads like these. The gator magnet is an impressive design and your magnet test paper thing was so cool to see.
LTT should thank you. I know you just sold at least one set of powerbar magnets and a few of the arches for them. Also doing the Milwaukee charger with the powerbar magnets. I like to mount my charger on the wall, but I hate trying to slide it onto a set of screws to hold it.
They brought it up on the WAN show and showed off some of the video.
Cool to see tools meant for one industry get repurposed for other industries. Well done!
Love your reviews that you do , all honesty and no BS selling
Those gator magnet hooks look like they would be good for holding drills and other power tools.
I think they would but in the back of my truck they’d last one pothole 😜
@@FunkFPV true, especially if its a midwest pothole, id probably use them on my tool cart in my garage
@@jjjacerI feel like in a Midwest pothole, you lose your truck (or at least part of it)
@@profosist No kidding. Those things are starting to look more like sinkholes with each passing season.
Could also hang some wrenches, a drill bit case, or some saw blades on them
Love this, didn't realize LTT had these. The power strip magnets are really interesting, as you showed, for tool chargers. I've got an older Snap-On box that doesn't have a built-in charge drawer, and the big drawer it does have, I use for chemical storage. So hell yeah, would be really neat to be able to charge them on the side of my box without having to drill holes, if they don't slip.
Very cool stuff, always love your show-and-tell videos! You've got great tastes!
Definitely tempted to get some of the hooks, too, for extensions and hose.
LTT power bar keys are great. Fit Milwaukee perfect but EGO and Hypertough you have to find a 1/4 20 screw with the correct head size.
11:45 My man had the magnetic film ready to show the magnetic polarity zones! Also using the pull gauge? You really go the extra mile!
This is cool shit man. I've watched Linus Tech Tips for years
Thanks so much for this. I love seeing those arches tested with the scale and everything. I have less than limited income, so getting to know things like that really helps me decide what to get. I think I could get some of the small or medium ones and solve a lot of issues that I have. Great video.
Glad it was helpful!
I couldn't believe how well magnets helped me in my work van.
You get 11 out of 10, but I have to subtract 1 point for the length of the video so you get 10 out of 10 🎉😂
So, SO much useless extra jabbering, just like every video. And a whole lot of talking with hands which I find very distracting.
Thanks for playing
@@madmax82988 nobody said you had to watch.
Way too short
I love the vibe of your channel. Thanks for a you do.
Great reviews man keep ‘em coming
Very near concepts thank you for sharing and your ideas on how you plan to use them .
Love the channel sir! 👍🏼
Quality content as always. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
It doesn't work because it helps you better organize your tools, it works because the iron on the magnets prevent the workshop fairies from stealing or misplacing your tools.
Never knew you got such a thing. Handy to know.
I have one of those bolt/nut gauges. It doesn't get much use, but boy howdy when you need it makes it oh so much easier. Thanks for posting.
Wes, just noticed how many subscribers you have!!!! Congrats are in order!
I like having it purely to know what size I need when going to the store I swear every time I go in the one I need is broken off or something
Thank you 👍🏻
I don’t know why owning a bolt gauge didn’t occur to me sooner 🤦🏻♂️
I appreciate you videos like these. I try to make something similar when I have time. It's editing I hate doing. I swear the timeline laughs at me!
Either way I love hearing about new unique products save them in a playlist you never know when are if you'll need them.
The editing is the easy part. Getting the words out of my dumb face is where I struggle 😜
Never knew got either. It would have been handy back in the day.
Damn. I’ve never seen those Gator hooks before.
I’m definitely getting a handful for the garage.
Good one. Thanks. There ya go. 👍
Getting Organized..? A very bold maneuver indeed Brave Sir as one is taking on the Dark Forces of Chaos and Entropy.. Good luck in thy sacred Quest..!
😂😂
Heck yeah. We got ProjectFarm mixed with an AvE
Great video. It was very attracting. By the way, that’s an absolutely awesome shirt.
😎👍🏻
they are some pretty cool products.
These are cool. Maybe a little pricey but just gave me a great idea...
I have a set of arched cabinet pulls that I picked up on clearance for a couple of bucks that aren't quite good enough that I've ever put them on cabinets. However, If I pick up some of those neodymium magnets with the screw holes in them, all the pulls already include screws so I should be able to create my own set.
From the first time i saw one of your videos, I've been trying to place who you reminded me of and i think i finally figured it out. It's definitely " the amazing Jonathan" i think there's less coke involved, but your dry sense of humor and some physical aspects for sure. Does this ring true for anyone else or is it just me?
😂😂 😁👍🏻
for thread checking, I have a set that is on a string. Each piece has a male and female thread of that size. a lot easier to use on a thread that is part of something.
My plan is to eventually figure out some sort of mechanism to hold my Snowbrush on the roof of my van I bought some magnets at harbor freight and I haven't gotten around to doing it. This is great to see some other ideas. I also took a 12 outlet workshop Power strip and screwed on some magnets to the tabs that I got a harbor freight as well. I don't think the one I got has the standard flat mounts to accept the LTT thingy.
Oh and if you do get the LTT thingies get them through their store directly as there's a markup on Amazon as Amazon is very expensive to sell through.
Those magnet hooks are awesome. I use the us general ones, and unfortunately the hooks are on the small side and I lose them easy due to size. These would be great for the extension cords and maybe the ladder with 2 or 3
If one of the cable management arch things is not quite up to the task, you could certainly use a pair. One top, one bottom. It would also prevent the cable loops swinging out then banging back on the door with every stop, or every door-close. Even if the noise isn't annoying, it'd also minimize fatigue in the cables.
some cool stuffs
Those wire management things could also be pretty nice in collision work.
When the car is disassembled it’s good practice to tape wiring harnesses out of the way so they don’t get damaged.
Not currently on my priority list to buy since we get free tape at the place I work, but might eventually get some.
I didn’t even think about that. Nice 👍🏻
Iv been preaching magnets for years I buy the cheap 2 foot long magnetic strips from harbor freight to stick my hundreds of sockets on they the strips are powerful enough to hold even 1/2 and 3/4 drive large sockets in -place on each stick is 2' long 1" wide they retail for 5 bucks a stick here in WA state. I use them for all sorts of stuff forget about those expensive magnet organizer sets they sell for sockets what a rip off . Good advice FUNK!!!
Came from the WAN show too
Could use those hook things to hold a drill or small impact driver.
Maybe even a drill bit case or saw blades.
Edit: where'd ya get the magnetic film btw?
Great video! I wish I knew about those magnetic cable organizers sooner! Lol I had the same exact double sided taped one as you and a week ago it fell and left residue everywhere thanks to the heat.. But now I see there's an alternative, magnets!
I know it sounds 'dumb' - on my end-, but it really is one of those things that you aren't aware of until (thanks to you) someone shows you?! 👍🏽💯 That and a few other items I'll pick up thanks to your content 👌🏽
Amazon sells that magnet film. It’s cheap. I think less than $10
Nice
Nice, been curious about those gator hooks, whether they were a scam or not. Turns out they are awesome, picking those up for sure!
Great ideas. I just got an 8 pack of Neodymium mag hooks at Menards for my wife who uses the fridge side for hanging oven mitts and whatnot. Might have to borrow a few back when she's not looking. 10 for $3.00 brand was Household Trends
Neat.
The arch things could be useful if you have to hold back a wiring harness or hose while you are working on something.
I think the power strip thing with the battery chargers is kinda genius
I've seen a similar thread thingy at my local hardware store
Gators can definitely be used to hang power tools
Have you ever went to a store and asked for help finding an air hose and the assistant employee treats you like there's all different kinds of air hoses and like there's some that are advanced and sophisticated?
I have some good for -50° temps and some that would shatter in those temps. Some are fine outdoors in the sun and others are junk.
I just get the rubber one and replace it when it gets too many cracks in it 😜
Get some VHB and something like a lego brick or something similar and stick it below the magnets to prevent the magnets from sliding past them.
Hello from WAN Show!
Thanks for coming 😎👍🏻
Man. I'm an ltt fan but I didn't know they had those magnet arches...i need a 3d printer 🤔 😅
😂😂👍🏻
Dammit Funk, my gadget addiction was in remission. 😅
pretty cool use for those arches. still debating with myself whether it's worth the tax and shipping to get em here in europe :/ either way, at least you seem to have fun with em :)
You guys got it tough with shipping. A friend of mine did a giveaway on his channel and someone in the UK won. It cost more to ship it than it did for the product.
I like your T shirt. Is it your own merch?
That’s from Till Valhalla Project. You should check them out. Lots of cool shirts and supports a good cause.
I could imagine the large LTT loops would hold a screwdriver or something like that.
Bro, y our channel has blown up. I have followed you for a while and just noticed your sub count.
Most of that from my Shorts videos. I do alright for an old guy who doesn’t know what he’s doing 😜
Can you make a short of the gator hook but move the lever while viewing the magnet sheet on it? Wanted to see the magnets move as it is locked.
The magnet actually stays still. The lever pivots the frame.
@@FunkFPV Ahhh. I think I saw the demo video from a home expo showing the hinge pushing it off. Thought seeing all those little magnets meant it canceled out itself like magswitch witchcraft.
Will you ever do a forklift job vlog again?
Those were fun but not necessarily sanctioned 😬 I’ve got a lot more eyes on me now.
Beware of Lorentz force I don't know if the scales of is going to generate force to move the welding cables.
(Magnetic field and current will generate force) (Simplest way to express myself sorry ;))
Actually nevermind the cables are barely getting magnetic field most likely because they will not be right underneath the magnet but on the side, so it should be fine. 😅 Maybe I'll get some for welding as well;)
I’m not a nice person
But I’m probably the best friend a person can have
I get that same vibe from you
Dude, the Gator magnetics is perfect for headphone holder... wtf i want one now hahahaha i could stick it in my PC Case and just have my headphones there
Isn't that the lady's name from pee wee Herman? Large Arch😅
In 2010 when I was looking to build my gaming pc and was looking for different computer components on YT and seeing what reviewers were saying abour then I stumbles across a tech reviewer holding a dslr and unboxing a computer cpu while talking about this amazing new processor that Intel had come out with.
That man was Linus Sebastian. over the course of the next few months I used his and few other peoples videos to build a pretty banging pc for the time and I also subscribed to Linus whose personal channel was called Linus Tech Tips.
He also did videos on a Canadian tech hard ware suppliers channel called NCIX where he worked.
LTT was his side hustle back then.
Over the course of the next few years Linus' side hustle became his main hustle and he quit NCIX to start focusing on his own company and business.
A year and half ago I stumbled across Funk making fun of idiots doing dumb things with tools and machinery and I subscribed.
Today I am watching Funk unbox, use and review Linus Tech Tips products for a video on his channel.
Nice 👍🏻
@@FunkFPV small world
2:25 that was actually one of the big things I wondered. Are those extra or included?
Those come with them. They sell other ones made from different materials for other applications. I linked their video in the description.
Do any tools get stuck to the inside of the drawer or cabinet?
Not in my case. I’m sure it could happen if you got something close enough.
From LTTs’ WAN show w review
Thanks for the look 😎👍🏻
@@FunkFPV no problem 🤝🏻
get it together Funk... magnetically
You didn't do the paper on the magnet with the level in the upright position. Can you please do that?
The lever just pushes the magnet away. It doesn’t change it 👍🏻
Alrighty, then. 😊 I am ready to be edumacated.
get that bag i guess
Fucking magnets - how do they work?
Yeah... I get how the thread-checker works, but Magnets ?!

I don’t think so
theyre really cool organizing tools, but holy crap are they expensive
The XL arches are a little pricey. I think $10 would be a more reasonable.

Welcome 🙏🏻
@11:50 What kind of matrix-y robotic time traveler are you really, funkfpv?
Haha 😜
Pretty sweet little haul there. If the big ones tend to slide down with the jumper cables on them, maybe you can cut a 1/2" slice of pipe that matches the curve of the magnet and tack it to whatever you're mounting it on. Think closet rod, the little cups you screw in to set the rod on. Or even 2 screws sticking out a bit so that they sit on the heads. That nut and bolt gauge is pretty cool too.
Surprisingly they haven’t moved an inch since I put them up there. And that’s driving on horrible Philadelphia roads 😂
Since you have one extra magnet now you can go magnet fishing in nearby toolbox
Haha
Don’t forget to get magnetic oil.
I cant believe this dude has almost a million subs or every bit of 3/4 of a million and that blows my mind. His channel isnt fancy or flashy and yet swimming with the big dogs.

A year-ish ago, when I first heard of LTT's plans for magnetic cable guides, I was like, "Why didn't I think of that?" So, I ordered some small rectangular neodymium magnets, and when they showed up, I got the calipers out, measured them, and started prototyping a 3D printed cable guide system. I eventually came up with a design that works, but I've kept it to myself.
It's basically a 1"×1" square base with a gap in the middle to allow cables to slot between and an arch connecting the 2 halves of the base. My desk is made with 1"square tubing, that's why 1"×1" so it sits flush and can be rotated 90° and still be flush.
Here before all the ltt haters flood the comments with their delusion and idiocy
I know. Their 3 major mistakes last year were easily forgivable one of which was the misplacement of that water block which ended up getting placed in a pile of items they were auctioning off was a mistake and was not intentional then that beef with Gamers Nexus was started by an employee boasting how LTT has better testing equipment in one off their videos then Gamers Nexus responded with saying that some of their recent GPU/CPU reviews had a couple of inaccuracies which even before that beef started I remember seeing comments from LTT themselves on one of those videos stating all the errors that a graph in the video had as they mislabelled the graph in it and not only that but GN brought up the misplaced water block too. Then there was that one story of an ex employee saying someone inappropriately touched her or something which she only revealed when the company was getting roasted by GN and that story died down after like a month and I never heard from it since and I personally think she could have been lying because I have never heard of any updates on that scandal (There have been many high profile cases of females faking harassment just to get fame and to get free money) also even if it were true that is not Linus's fault and it is not like every company can protect against this behaviour and most don't even see it or are not even prepared till it actually happens. It is like building a custom water cooled PC and it working fine till a few days later it springs a leak and you thought you did all you could to stop it happening only to now decide to go even further with the testing before giving the final pass on the build since you experienced first hand the problem
Haha People have their opinions I guess. My opinion is to try and do what they do without screwing up sometimes.
@@zahidshabir4038 the whole water block thing was definitely a mistake and no malice was intended, but a mistake nonetheless the less. The inaccurate benchmark/testing was definitely warranted by GN because of how trusted and valued LTT’s tests and reviews were by the tech community. Luckily that has been ironed out though. And the whole harassment allegations were completely disproven when they released the results of the third party investigation done by a big investigation firm. It was concluded beyond a doubt to be false.
So definitely some mistakes that they have to take responsibility for, but they have.
@@zahidshabir4038 Linus Tech Tips put a community message out a few weeks ago.
They decided to be quiet and asked the staff to do the same while they hired a third party to look into things.

@@my_channel_44if you can’t afford the cable management solutions that ltt have, then you probably don’t have a lot of tech or cables that you need to organize. Because there’s no reason to buy it if you aren’t able to fully utilize them.
