My last day is coming up! This Friday!! I realized it was time when I kept having work based nightmares. My workplace is chaotic and mentally draining. I’m leaving to continue writing my book. Working on a sci-fi thriller about a survival bunker for the wealthiest 1percent. Going to be a dark comedy like dr. strange love. Thanks for the motivation to leave a toxic environment
This amazes me to see that people who are living so far from me are experiencing the same thing. I am living in Africa, and I can tell You that as an ex-banker, I went through so much negative pressure that I literally started having nightmares with my line manager threatening me in my dreams!!! Despite our differences of colour, country and culture, I finally realised that We have something in common: the HUMAN SOUL that connects us regardless of our differences.
Hey Mako, you're such an inspiration. I've recently reduced my working hours from 40hr 5 days a week full time to 30 hours 3 days a week. Even though i'll have to work 10 hours a day but i'm glad to have the rest of my 4 days free to chase my dreams. It's a good start and i already feel happier, looking forward to quit completely when i'm comfortable.
Thanks again so much for sharing your experience quitting your job. My last day will be Dec 31st 2024 and I am excited to see what's going to happen! Take Care 😊
You’re such an inspo! I just spent a month in Japan while working remotely on my corporate job.. And by the end of the trip I realized I’m done with this corporate suck-all-my-time-and-energy job, and I resigned. Japan is quite a place to realize that there’s more to life than sitting in the office :D
So happy to see a sponsored video from you😄Rooting for your success. It would be interesting to hear about Japanese work culture / rules from you (only if you are interested in making a video like that!). I've always been curious about how rigid the work culture in Japan is, and I wonder if there are any significant changes now compared to, say, 10 years ago. As a woman in her late twenties who quit my job last year, I find your videos very calming and encouraging. Keep up the good job :)
Thank you Mako. I completely agree. When I decided to quit my job a month ago it felt scary though exciting. But now I feel more liberated and like you said I feel that over time we will become more comfortable to take on more new challenges. I am also sharing this journey of mine through my channel and you're a very key inspiration in that. Thank you so much. 🥰❤
Your production and visuals are excellent, a joy to watch. I love that you don't use any generic stock footage!! I wonder what direction you have in miind for your channel. Agewise, I am way past the point of needing job advice, but the general theme of Overcoming Challenges applies to all ages and situations in life. I like your attitde and your skillful, authentic presentation! :-) Best wishes!
Thank you so much, I try my best to shoot everything original. I want to see where my creativity take me but for now, I enjoy sharing my experience of quitting 9-5 to pursue my passion :)
Thanks for the motivation. I'm quitting my 9-to-5 job. It was a super flexible work-from-home setup, but it was also super stressful. I felt like I was stuck in a never-ending loop, and it was stressful to see my job when I was trying to relax. I don't know what this decision will lead to, but I'm going to do it anyway. ❤
This is very motivating Mako. I really love how you deliver your life experiences. Though I quit my job for almost 2 years now, I still felt stuck and don't know where to go. But I love my freedom and peace of mind better than having my corpo job. Will try some of your advice specially making a system :) And btw, I am so happy seeing that your channel is growing and I started watching your vids when its not yet monetized and now you have a partnership (T.T) Hoping for more blessings for you. Thank you for sharing your slice of life with us. Ganbatte!!!
Thank you so much for your video. I won't miss watching your video because i cannot stop watcing it your video and i have learned from you. I gained clarify in my mind from this video and also connected my life with yours.
Yes, having a system is much more important than all the effort one puts in. This idea actually dates back to René Descartes and his "Discours de la Méthode" ("The Discourse on the Method" by Cartesius). Learning a new language is a wonderful, exhilarating and energizing experience. The brain needs the exercise just like the body does. I'm currently learning the Japanese language and I can safely say that I've become hooked. Whenever I need to cheer myself up, it's time for a bit of Japanese😆 So happy you start getting sponsorships! You're such an intelligent woman and I admire your knowledge of English. I think it was Mark Anthony who said that "If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life." As to comparing oneself to others. I guess it only makes sense to compare oneself to the previous version of the self. We have no idea what other people are really going through. Keep posting your vids, Mako-san. I just know you'll be getting better and better❤
I agree, building a system can take time but its very important. That is amazing that you enjoy learning Japanese because I assume it can be a difficult language to learn 😅
Sometimes it feels like there is no other way than just start something new. Making my own system is an amazing idea. Im sure its something that Im currently missing. Thanks so much for your effort Mako.
Thank you for your practical advice about quitting 9 to 5. I'm very ready to quit because 9 to 5 is something I never wanted for myself. The trouble is knowing what to do for work next.

I quit my job a month before you! It takes so much time and effort to grow and I am naturally very disorganized. 😅 I tried all kinds of different advice to be more organised etc., only to fall back to chaos and loose all motivation! Still trying to find my balance and see what works. It is a long way, but it feels much better than when I was working and too tired after work to do anything else then netflix. Also happy to see you have a sponsor! ❤

Hi Mako. I started working on my System in order to be more efficient, productive and motivated in the long run. That's why I started to review your videos again. I thought that maybe a nice video topic can be on how You manage your every day. Do you work on weekends, do you plan your day. How diary helps you ? I understand that sometimes we need to be intentionally imperfect 😊 But some discipline and structure should also be present.
Self-decline is definitely important! I try to write down my time schedule for the next day before going to bed, which helps me imagine how my day is gonna look like and to be more productive :) I do work on the weekend often for now but once in a while I try to have a weekend where I don’t do anything related to work to avoid burnout :)
I quit my job, or rather didn’t renew my contract in Seoul. It’s been two months, and I’m planning on moving to Japan and starting school at a イラスト専門学校 (illustration school.) I’m 34, terrified, and have no idea if I’ll be able to support this dream. I wonder if this leap is worth it.
