We stay right around the corner at Andaz 5th Ave. We usually do the Andaz Suite and looking to change it up. This or stick to Andaz? Last question the commodore, so is it free or no? During the beginning of your video you say everything is free minus the wine and beer but later in the video you say there’s a fee?
@@MUFCXI I would personally stick w the Andaz 5th ave 🎉 The commodore lounge comes with a fee per room. Once you get it, everything in the lounge is free except for the alcohol.
Staying here, a few more days to go. All I can say is you're paying for convenience. THAT's ALL. No service to speak of, room not made up after a day out in the heat and we left our room at 12! You get a standard recorded message when you try to call the Duty manager who don't call back, staff are nonchalant about service requests.... so yes, don't expect the Hyatt service here & you'll be alright. Cos the room is big compared to many NYC hotels. But the King size bed is only slightly wider than a double. Aircon is on a Low all day but better than some hotels here where aircons go on a throttle. And lifts work so well here as compared to the other Hyatt. Btw there's no bed bugs, thank goodness!
Stayed here for a week in July '24 (from the UK). We had a Corner suite on the 30th floor with a view of the Chrysler building. No major issues, except we were expecting a proper pull-out couch bed for our daughter to sleep on, but the couch doesn't do this, so she had to sleep on a rollaway bed. Which was fine as the room was large. But agree the bathroom is a bit cramped for the size of the room - even the largest rooms have the same sized bathroom. Great service on check-in (from Alex) and throughout our stay, whenever we needed anything. Being greeted on entry and when you leave the hotel is a nice touch. Access to the Commodore lounge on 16 is a must-have in my opinion. Enabled us to have a light breakfast whenever we needed it before a busy day of sightseeing. Useful tip: Pershing Square opposite the hotel do a great breakfast at a fraction of the USD45pp that the hotel charge. Another useful tip: You also get USD5 pp/pd to spend at the "Market" in the lobby - handy for grabbing snacks. Hotel location is perfect. Always plenty of cabs around as it's so close to Grand Central. Walking distance to many top sights. Cheap to store cases if you are flying late in the evening - USD6 per item. Sadly, homeless folks and/or drug users are a fairly common sight around the outside of the hotel, but no more so than the rest of NYC. Would stay here again.
@1shottravel if you had to chose between hyatt grand central or Park Central Hotel (on 7th), whicwoone would you prefer? Note: yes. I watched your Park Central Hotel review
I stayed here over Thanksgiving with my family after watching your review, but this hotel is dated. The carpet in the lobby, hallway, and in the room is old. Paint is peeling off the wall in the bathroom. It is not up to the Hyatt standard from my previous experience. I had better experience staying at the Westin Grand Central down the street.
Riu Times Square or Riu Manhattan. They have complimentary breakfast in the morning. 😊 Rooms are bigger in Hyatt Grand Central tho, if that’s a factor that’s important for you 👍🏻
Great review. After seeing it, I'd totally consider staying at the Hyatt Grand Central. Thanks for the info on the Commodore Lounge. I would pay $45 for that but not the restaurant.
The hotel was nice rooms were awesome few minor hiccups like when you check in they hit you with a hold of $$$ until you check out other than that everything turned out wonderful when we stayed for three days and two nights But Sadly be prepared for lots of homeless - pickpockets - psyche cases on either side of the hotel soon as you walk out the front door on either side of the building Almost got pickpocketed twice and partner almost once but didn't have anything in their pocket at the time
I am not entirely sure if its a buffet for I did not enter the bfast area. In their website however, it does say Breakfast Buffet. "Fuel up for a day of exploring New York City with our breakfast buffet. Featuring classic American breakfast delights. Hours / Monday-Sunday: 6:30AM-12:30PM"
Sadly, resort/destination/facility fees are the most common things in NYC hotels. Don't forget the $3-4 Convention Fee (even though you are not attending any conventions). :(
I know right!!! Unfortunately, this is a very common thing for hotels here in Manhattan - NYC. :( One more thing to add to the total expense for the night.

Good video.. Thankx..

We stayed here for a couple days a during December, it is huge and you can get lost and confused. the daily hold on my card was $200 per day per room.
That’s great!
What do you guys think? Would you stay here in your future travels in New York City? 😊

Yes! I think I find more value in the lounge versus paying day by day for bfast amongst other things 🎉
is the sound insulation good?
Yes it is 😊
2 mini fridges ? Odd. Gorgeous lobby. Great review.
I was surprised as well. Maybe the prior guest requested it and they just never took it out. Again, I am not complaining. 😆

So are the lounges and free items only for the Elite Members?
This is available for regular guests as well. I believe it’s around $35-45 per room (not per person) and you get unlimited access to this.
@@1ShotTravel is that 35-45 dollars per room per day?
@@damianmiller8298 yes, per room per day, for the lounge. I recommend this lounge access.
it is NOT grand central station… it IS grand central terminal
That hotel makes my dreams come true. And also that is like the biggest hotel in the world

Air conditioning?
Yes, they have air conditioning 👍🏻
