Great video, finally found one straight to the point. Does anyone know how to remove that back plate? I wanna check things out before I pull the whole transaxle.
What kind of tractor do you have? Mine has the fuel tank under the seat so no way for me to check without pulling the whole unit out and working on it.
Not a fun job but you certainly took the guess work out of it. Fluid level looked good on mine, it did not like going uphill. Changed the oil, now ill put it back together and give this girl another ride. Okay, reassembly complete and its still a slow poke especially going up hill. Aside from belt replacement, is there anything else i need to consider? Drive belt tightening? No squeeky belt noise either. Husky has little or no info out there...arrg.
I just posted a video on the drive belt. I put a slightly smaller one on mine and that fixed my problem. After I changed my fluid it was better than it was, but still not great. After the belt it was great.
Did you find the problem? I have a lot of hills at my place and it was acting like a drive belt slipping, but replacing that didn't work. Called General Transmission (the manufacturers of the transmission) and they diagnosed mine as needing a driven kit ($55) plus a transaxle variation belt ($18). Thought I was in for a new transmission ($500), so I was happy!
So my Husqvarna YTH 24V48 reverse was going out really bad and now the forward went out, so I figured out how toget my transmission off but couldn't figure out the fill so thanks to your video got the old fluid out and put new in but under estimated how much it holds 😅 to the store for more and tomorrow I'll put it all back and see if it fixed it before I go to belts. If i need a smaller one do you remember what you put on yours? Thanks again buddy!
I'm not quite clear on where to fill to, you said 3/4" below hole, in that the lower hole or the hole to the side or the top hole, I couldn't see by the video where it was filled to. Other than that it was a very informative video, thanks.
My mower will move forward and back but with very little strength. Can't go uphill forwards or backwards. Last summer it did this, but after warming up it started working properly, and yes, this is an old mower. I was hoping adding transmission fluid would fix this, but it looks like I'll have to remove the whole thing as in your video.
